Ganpatipule
Ganpatipule (Gaṇpatīpuḷē) is a small town located in the Ratnagiri district on the Konkan coast of Maharashtra, in the sub-continent of India. The town of Chiplun is located to its north.
Origin of the name
According to local folklore, the Hindu god Ganapati, taking umbrage at a remark made by a native lady, moved to Pulé पुळे (a few km before the town) from his original abode of Gulé. Thus the region was named Ganpati-pulé.
The 400-year-old Ganpati idol at Ganpatipule is said to have sprung up from the soil. This deity faces the west, so as to guard the western gates, unlike deities in other Indian temples who face the east. The temple is at the base of a hill, and pilgrims walk around (pradakshina) the hill as a mark of respect.
Geography and history
Ganapatipule is approximately 375 km. south of Mumbai, along the Konkan Coast. It is a very small town with about 100 houses, and has one of the most spectacular beaches along the Konkan Coast – an idyllic getaway that attracts peace-seekers, beach lovers, and pilgrims alike. The temple of Swayambhu (self-originated) Ganesh is much frequented by thousands every year. The God is considered to be the Paschim Dwarpalak (Western Sentinel God of India),and those who visit Ganapatipule make it a point to pay their respects to this deity. In addition to its clean beach and clear waters, Ganapatipule is rich in flora, including mangroves and coconut palms.

Ratnagiri
Ratnāgiri is a port city on the Arabian Sea coast in Ratnagiri District in the southwestern part of Maharashtra, India. The district is a part of Konkan division of Maharashtra.
The Speciality of Ratnagiri district is that 6 out of total 43 Bharat Ratna Awardees, (which is India's highest Achievement Award) are from here.
The Sahyadri mountains border Ratnagiri to the east. Heavy rainfall results in highly eroded landscape in the coastal region, but fertile alluvial valleys in the region produce abundant rice, coconuts, cashew nuts, and fruits, "Hāpus" (Alphonso) mangoes being one of the main fruits. Fishing is an important industry in Ratnagiri.
A few illustrious Indians, including "Lokmānya Tilak" (or Bal Gangadhar Tilak), a prime leader in the nation's freedom movement in the British Raj days; Bharat Ratna "Maharshi" Dhondo Keshav Karve, a social reformer and educationist; and Wrangler Paranjpe i.e. Wrangler Raghunath Purushottam Paranjpe, a mathematician and educationist, were born in Ratnagiri or its vicinity. Ratnagiri district is a birthplace of four Bharat Ratna awardees Dhondo Keshav Karve, Acharya Vinoba Bhave, Pandurang Vaman Kane and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Also, two another Bharat Ratna awardees Sachin Tendulkar and Govind Vallabh Pant have their native places in Ratnagiri district.

Greenery of coconut and mango trees surrounding one side of the beach adds to the beauty and makes the whole experience of every visitor a memorable one.
4. Vengurla is famous for its long stretch of iridescent sand, lined up with thick cashew, coconut, jackfruit and mango groves. Vengurla rocks or Burnt Islands is so near to this beach. Malvan has now become a part of the mainland. This area is thickly covered with palm trees. This place is famous for the temples of Shri Devi Sateri Temple and Rameshwar Temple as well. There are two old forts at nearby Sindhudurg Fort and Padmagad Fort in the township of Malvan.
5. Mochemad Beach is located in the Mochemad village, which is at a distance of around 8 km from Vengurla. It is surrounded by 200 feet high mountains and hills. This gives feeling of the village being placed inside a bowl and to top it off it has also been blessed with a Golden sand beach that stretches its clean sand for miles. The water is pure and clean. The coastline has been strewn with "Suru" tree plantations.
6. Vengurla is known for its Sagareshwar beach and cashew nuts. Driving on the way to Shiroda from Vengurla just turn to the right at Ubhadanda you will see the huge streteh of shiny silvery sand dunes. By trampling the sand under the foot, a short walk, climbing the sand dunes and lo behold you are at the sparkling beach, clean with white sands and deep blue water of Sagreshwar. A small temple of Sagareshwara (Lord of the Sea) is situated on the beach.
7. Shiroda Velagar Beach is one of the beautiful beaches around Malvan and is famous for its sparkling blue water and long stretches of silver sand. 1. Bhogave Beach is in the vicinity of Kille Nivati. Foamy waves and silver sand is what the Bhogave beach is endowed with.This beach is beautiful and clean. This beach will surely destress you! Village Bhogave has another attraction of unification of sea and river named Karli. As the beach is scerene and calm it is just the perfect place for the person, fed up of city life. This beach has lush green surroundings and golden sands.Facilities includes boating, fishing and even the sea beach resort is available.
2. The Devgad Beach, situated in Devgad town, is a popular picnic spot. Devgad beach lies just 1Km away from Devgad bus stand. The greenery on the beach side is marvelous. It has an ancient temple on its shores. Activities like swimming and sunbathing can be enjoyed at this beach.
3. Kunkeshwar Beach, one of the major attractions of Kunkeshwar, is popular for activities like swimming and sunbathing.The pristine beach of Kunkeshwar, and the surrounding greenery will definitely fetch every visitor a feeling of sheer joy and pleasure. if you are lucky ones you can get a rare view of dolphins diving in the deep sea from a distance. Greenery of coconut and mango trees surrounding one side of the beach adds to the beauty and makes the whole experience of every visitor a memorable one.
4. Vengurla is famous for its long stretch of iridescent sand, lined up with thick cashew, coconut, jackfruit and mango groves. Vengurla rocks or Burnt Islands is so near to this beach. Malvan has now become a part of the mainland. This area is thickly covered with palm trees. This place is famous for the temples of Shri Devi Sateri Temple and Rameshwar Temple as well. There are two old forts at nearby Sindhudurg Fort and Padmagad Fort in the township of Malvan.
5. Mochemad Beach is located in the Mochemad village, which is at a distance of around 8 km from Vengurla. It is surrounded by 200 feet high mountains and hills. This gives feeling of the village being placed inside a bowl and to top it off it has also been blessed with a Golden sand beach that stretches its clean sand for miles. The water is pure and clean. The coastline has been strewn with "Suru" tree plantations.
6. Vengurla is known for its Sagareshwar beach and cashew nuts. Driving on the way to Shiroda from Vengurla just turn to the right at Ubhadanda you will see the huge streteh of shiny silvery sand dunes. By trampling the sand under the foot, a short walk, climbing the sand dunes and lo behold you are at the sparkling beach, clean with white sands and deep blue water of Sagreshwar. A small temple of Sagareshwara (Lord of the Sea) is situated on the beach.

Joy Ride : Pune to Ganpatipule on a road parallel to sea
A vlog of my ride to Ganpatipule from Pune. Ganpatipule hosts a temple in the beach where in the statue of Ganpati is naturally formed out of the rock. The best part of the trip is the bike ride which went through magnificent Amba valley. The valley was lush green and humongous. Then there was the road parallel to the sea. The Arey warey beach is a must to go place in this trip. It was clean with white sand and crystal clear water.

Ganpatipule hosts a temple in the beach where in the statue of Ganpati is naturally formed out of the rock.
The best part of the trip is the bike ride which went through magnificent Amba valley. The valley was lush green and humongous. Then there was the road parallel to the sea. The Arey warey beach is a must to go place in this trip. It was clean with white sand and crystal clear water.
