Strength To Carry On, debut single by Will Page, tells the amazing story of an incredibly strong woman; Doris Page (author name Ann Armstrong), who despite being paralyzed for 30 years of her life by polio disease wrote published books and magazine articles typing with her toes and founded the Independence At Home charity. For all her amazing work, Ann was awarded an MBE by Queen Elizabeth II. Ann was Will Page’s grandmother.
In Spring 2022 a blue plaque was mounted on Ann’s family home in Newbury to commemorate her incredible achievements and as a person of significant historical importance; not least for surviving 30 years of bed-bound and respiratory paralysis, legacy of championing independent living for disabled people, writing boo...

Broadstairs - by Will Page - Broadstairs Folk Week 2023
I wrote this song to celebrate Broadstairs Folk Week, the internationally renowned Kentish festival (South East England) where for one week every year the whole town is immersed in folk music and arts with simultaneous gigs at every possible venue! I have fond memories of performing at this festival over the years with my band, Noble Jacks, and it was upon being booked as a solo artist in 2023 that I felt it was time to capture the magic and excitement of Broadstairs Folk Week in a song!
This video was a bit of a DIY experiment, shooting on my phone(!), though enabled me to capture some of the festival as I experienced it in 2023!
You can stream the song via all streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon etc).

Will Page | Eight Principles for Pivoting Through Disruption | Talks at Google
Will Page discusses his book "Tarzan Economics: Eight Principles for Pivoting Through Disruption", a stunning new insight into how the most crucial lesson you can learn in today’s challenging business environment is how to change the fundamentals of what you do, rather than carrying on fighting a battle that is already lost.
Music matters because it got there first. In its first decade of disruption it spent millions and lost billions fighting piracy. In the second, it applied Tarzan Economics, embracing streaming and set upon a success story that is the envy of everyone else. In this book, Page ties these principles together: a framework for letting go of the old vine and grabbing onto the new.

Interview with Will Page, author and former chief economist at Spotify.
James Evelegh talks to Will about:
• what publishers can learn from his book 'Tarzan Economics: Eight Principles in Pivoting Through Disruption'
• how the music industry was the first to suffer and the first to recover
• how consumption is not the problem, monetisation is
• how industries, when they face disruption, shouldn't fight change, but build something that's better than before ... "change is happening regardless"

In Spring 2022 a blue plaque was mounted on Ann’s family home in Newbury to commemorate her incredible achievements and as a person of significant historical importance; not least for surviving 30 years of bed-bound and respiratory paralysis, legacy of championing independent living for disabled people, writing books published by the BBC (A Breath Of Life, 1985) or being a wife and mother of two. Above all, it was her mental strength and spirit which still inspires today.
It was at the 2022 commemoration service, led by the Mayor of Newbury and other community and family members, that Will fully unearthed the immense story of his grandmother and was compelled to write a song in her memory. “I hope my song ‘Strength To Carry On’ serves as a positive and inspiring message to listeners in these troubled times” tells Will. “Beginning my solo artist career at this time feels like my grandmother has reached down from above to give me this song to set me on my journey”.
Taking the lead on this track are Will’s energetic, expressive fiddle playing and melodic vocals. Noteworthy too is the performance by BBC Folk Award winning instrumentalist, Cormac Byrne, on bodhran and percussion. Being well recognised on the Americana scene, you can observe Will’s enthusiasm for storytelling within his lyrics; indeed Strength To Carry On showcases Will in full storytelling mode! The song crescendos with fiddle and vocal soaring together to create an exciting and heartfelt listening experience.

Vocals, fiddle & guitar performed by Will Page. Bodhrán & Percussion performed by Cormac Byrne. Piano & bass guitar performed by Jack Hosgood.
Recorded at Doz Studios. Produced by Will Page. Percussion Production by Cormac Byrne. Mixed by Al Drake Brockman.

In this book, Page ties these principles together: a framework for letting go of the old vine and grabbing onto the new.
Will Page is the former Chief Economist of Spotify and PRS for Music, where he pioneered Rockonomics. At PRS he published work on Radiohead's ‘In Rainbows’ and saved BBC 6Music. At Spotify he helped redefine catalog, uncovered the anatomy of a hit and articulated the global value of music copyright. A passionate communicator, Will’s work is regularly featured in Billboard, The Economist and The Financial Times. More recently, he published "Malbeconomics: Taking Stock of the Twentieth Anniversary of the 9.99 Price Point". He is a visiting fellow at the London School of Economics and a fellow at the Royal Society of the Arts.

• how tech kills friction ("publishing still has a lot of friction")
• how the future of publishing might be catering to the extremes: bargain & luxury
• what lessons publishers can take from the rebirth of vinyl
• how publishers need to aim much higher as their current subs numbers are "missing zeros"
• how publishers can rethink the challenges they face
• how the redesign of King's Cross station was publishing's "Napster moment"
• why we should actually listen to customers: "customers have pulses, dashboards don't"
• and much more…
