Our Process

Fire and water damage to your home is an emotional ordeal.  At IDC, we understand this.  We want you to know that we will carefully examine the damage and work with you and your insurance provider to ensure that you receive the best care, restoration, and insurance settlement possible.

STEP  1
Your IDC representative will meet with you and do an overview of the complete damage. We take great care to fully uncover the damage caused indirectly by smoke and soot, and we make sure to document everything with photos. It’s also important that you are in contact with your insurance provider right away — our team at IDC can help with this process since there will be a number of things that are important to share with your provider.

STEP 2
We will determine what can be done right away to secure your property and make any emergency repairs. We consider an emergency repair to be any repair made in order to prevent further damage to your property.

All emergency repairs made before the insurance company adjuster does their inspection will be well documented so that they can be included in the loss claim. Additional work should not be done before the inspection by the insurance company so as not to jeopardize coverage.

STEP 3
Your IDC representative will meet with you and the insurance adjuster to make sure that all necessary tasks, items, repairs and other related losses are brought to the attention of the adjuster. This is very important because restoring fire and water damage can be a very complex scope of work. At IDC we have found that many times the adjuster will rely on our expertise to detail the work required to properly make the repairs and we’re glad to be able to help!

STEP 4
The insurance company will usually issue an initial insurance check right away so that the repairs can begin as soon as possible. Along with the check,  a copy of the Loss Claim will be included. This document will detail every task that the insurance company determines necessary to make the repairs. Fire and water damage claims can be 20 or 30-pages long and very complex.  At IDC, we will go through the Loss Claim with a fine-tooth comb to ensure that the proper line items have been used, as well as the correct material estimates and labor charges.

We have yet to find a fire or water claim that we have not been able to renegotiate to include more than the original claim. This is not the fault of the adjuster or insurance company however—  these losses are very complex and it is very easy to overlook things that will need to be completed during the restoration.

STEP 5
We will work to complete reconstruction and repairs of all damage listed on the insurance claim. Once our work is completed,  the insurance company is notified by IDC. Any supplements or change orders approved during reconstruction are added to the claim and the final check is submitted to you for your final payment.
