Carolyn Kylstra

Editor-in-Chief

Carolyn Kylstra is the Editor-in-Chief of SELF, where she oversees editorial content for the legendary brand.

Prior to her current position, Kylstra served as Executive Digital Director of SELF; under her leadership, Self.com went through a full redesign in 2016, and organic traffic grew 131% in one year, while offsite video views grew 210%.

Before joining SELF, Kylstra was the health editor of BuzzFeed, where she launched the site’s popular Health vertical. Prior to BuzzFeed, Kylstra spent two years as the site director of Women’s Health, spearheading digital strategy for the brand. She also worked at as a senior editor at Cosmopolitan after beginning her career at Men’s Health.

Kim Kelleher was named chief business officer of Allure, Brides, Glamour, Self and Teen Vogue in January 2017. In addition to overseeing revenue of the brand collection, Kelleher works directly with clients, as well as colleagues on the industry team to bring innovative solutions to market and grow the heritage of each brand.

Most recently, Kelleher served as chief revenue officer and publisher of Wired Media Group, which includes Ars Technica, Backchannel and WIRED.

Kelleher’s career in media, marketing, and advertising spans more than 20 years. Before joining Wired Media Group, she was president of Say Media. Prior to that, Kelleher was worldwide publisher of Time. During her tenure, she was named Advertising Age’s Publisher of the Year in October 2011. Kelleher also served as vice president and publisher of Sports Illustrated, where she was the first female executive to lead Sports Illustrated advertising sales in the history of the brand. Previously, she was vice president and publisher of Self and was inducted into the American Advertising Federation’s Advertising Hall of Achievement, the industry’s premier award for outstanding young advertising professionals.

Kelleher is active in many philanthropic initiatives. She is currently vice chair of the American Advertising Federation and serves on numerous boards including: Upworthy; the Board of Governors of Cancer and Careers; the charitable arm of Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW); the John A. Reisenbach Foundation; the Media and Entertainment Council at Lincoln Center; New York Women in Communications; and the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Journalism and Mass Communications.

Kelleher is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison and resides in New York with her husband and two sons.
