Seems like Neymar is surely moving to PSG. He cancelled an autograph session in China and the reason given was apparently that the player is "involved in a transfer". We're also looking to buy Coutinho for £75m. Delle Alli seems to be on the radar too although negotiating with Levy is possibly the worst thing in football transfers. It seems like the management is getting ready to spend the £195m they're getting from PSG. If we manage to get coutinho and somehow Verratti, I'll be fine with letting neymar go.
And now he had a fight with Semedo and left the pitch like a little bitch. He can go follow the money and go from playing with the likeS of Suarez and Messi in La Liga to Cavani and Di Maria in Ligue 1.

Don't get me wrong, obviously I want Neymar to stay but if he's leaving then GTFO asap so we can find replacements. Our season starts in 2 weeks and it would have been nice if we had his replacements come to the preseason with us.

Oh and I'm afraid our board is just going to get Coutinho and that's it. That won't be enough. We also need Dembele so that way Coutinho can play in midfield.
He wants to be the main guy, at Barcelona that will never happen, its Messi's team.
If he goes, we need to get Verratti and Coutinho/Dembele.
+3
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mdSNcaClSk

Here's the video.

Seems like his just overdoing it. His pissed about something but he wouldn't dare do that to his other teammates but picks on the new guy? His angling for a move to PSG, looks he wants to force the club to sell him now after the president said they want him to stay.

Coutinho is not a Neymar replacement, he would play in the MF 3, Mbappe or Dembele would be better options.
Why the hell would he want to be the main guy in Ligue 1? Neymar wants to be the best player in the world, can he really achieve that playing there? If he moved to EPL or even Bundesliga then sure. But Ligue 1? No disrespect but he would need to score 70+ goals a year and win the treble in order to be considered the best.

I would have been less angry if he went to United. At least United are a big club playing in a big league. So it's not just about being the main guy. It's him and his dumbass father being greedy. Anyways, we don't need this kind of drama. Thanks Neymar and good luck. I hope we use that money wisely.
+1
Neymar needs to leave asap. Can't have a guy who is throwing tantrums and clearly doesn't want to be here. It is only going to make the dressing room poisonous. Dembele + Verratti and we will be fine.
+4
^ ousamane dembele ,verrati in and a middle finger to neymar, then I will be the happiest man in the world, lol
Coutinho/Dembele + Verratti for Neymar will be huge win for you guys in long run.

+2
You should keep him , Neymar is probably the only one who has a legit chance of winning the Ballon D Or in CR7 and Messi era, I really hope he doesn't leave, football fans Toyota want to see Neymar competing in the top league
+1
I feel it won't be as easy as you think. After all this no way PSG will budge on Veratti, and while even Liverpool are very stubborn about Coutinho, you'll have to pay 130m+ for him because that's the market now. Add to that everyone know you have 222m to spend, you're not getting anyone for cheap.

I feel you guys should get Sanchez back for cheap as a short term replacement and try to get Coutinho/Dybala/Dembele later.

Oh btw coming from a Chelsea fan, Hazard is MASSIVELY overrated, just carried by teammates, don't even bother, big waste of money if you get him ;)
+1
The only chance of you getting verrati this season is if PSG can not meet FFP.

^ I don't think they need to sell Verratti for that. They can offload players like Matuidi (good player but really seems to want to leave), Rabiot, Krychowiak, and Ben Arfa to do so. I would imagine Rabiot alone should be able to get them around 40M or so in today's ridiculous market.

I don't think PSG will let him go that easy and he may be more inclined to stay now with a player like Neymar joining his team.
I hope Verratti will just force his way out. His idol is Xavi, his dream is to be Xavi's heir at Barça. There's not going to be a better chance to reach that than leaving PSG now, when Barça badly needs a player of his calibre in the CM position.
If all of it is true, then it's a sad end to a beautiful story, this whole Neymar saga.

Can't say I'm surprised though; he always had been a prima donna, unlike Messi or Suárez. Or of course our talismanic heroes Xavi, Iniesta and Puyol back in the day.

I really hope we can get Verratti and Dembélé or Mbappé for that money instead.
So... How are you guys feeling about the preseason so far?

Football-wise I'm quite pleased. We look confident and strong. I've been impressed by some of our backups like Cilessen and Munir. It's good to see Vidal back too; really happy he recovered well.

Transfer-wise I do hope we can sign Veratti or another top CM. Last season our midfield was the weak point; we need energy and spirit in there.
I wish I was optimistic like you budd, I feel we are worse than we were last season, outside of MSN and Messi in particular , there is no soul, the moments Messi steps off, all the lights go off. I fear that with stalwarts , Iniesta , Masche and Busquets getting older, it is going to be tough to challenges for the three competitions. The new RB addition seems ok so far, but doesn't look like an X-factor yet, I know , need to be patient.
As you diligently said we need at least 1 top CM and another top defender at least, would love another reliable striker as well. I also feel like the bench is still weak. The season is long and grueling, we need to be able to rest players and account for injuries/suspensions, without a strong bench, we are basically praying for other teams to drop points, not good of a recipe in my opinion. I think the board failure to sign marquee/great players over the last 2 or 3 season speaks volume.
I usually am more optimistic when people are pessimistic, and I'm more pessimistic when people expect great things.

Usually teams do better when they're not expected to win everything. Because even when they do win several trophies then, people will still focus on the one or two they didn't win. It's been like that for Barça for over a decade. Now people fear we're in trouble and I think this alleviates the pressure on our players quite a bit. I'm looking forward to the season.
Would you guys take Pep back if you had the chance? I wonder what Pep would do with Barca's current MF and MSN. What are you thoughts?
Ofcourse. You won't find a single Barca fan who won't take Pep . He would probably sign a top class midfielder and shift the focus of our play to midfield again. Not to mention he will surely improve players like Alena, Samper, Roberto, etc. Valverde is trying to do the same. Have to wait and see what he is capable of.
+2
I'd be glad to give Pep a shot. I'm not sure if he would give the youth players a chance though. With Bayern and City, he made it a point to challenge for titles immediately. If a manager chose to invest in the Barca youth now, I think that is a conscious decision to build a team and challenge for titles in two or three seasons which is not what Barca is currently about. I'd be lying if I said I had complete confidence that Pep could pull off what he did last time, but I'd be hopeful.
Valverde giving Alena and Samper a chance is a good sign for me. The world dominance Barca has come to be associated with is short lived and instead of focusing on that, I would really like a manager who gives Barca products like Alena and Samper a chance. Losing Thiago left a crap flavor in most of our mouths and that's something the club has to reckon with. If we don't learn from mistakes like that then I can see Barcelona turning into a club who focuses solely on buying talent instead of giving real homegrown talent a chance. I'd sacrifice the reputation that Barca has to win every title for forever if it meant giving the players worth waiting for time to develop.
Did you guys see what Martial did to Carvajal? 😂

And the PKs! Lmao!
+2
I feel bad for Carvajal, he always gets into highlight reels of wingers putting him in a blender.

I think FIFA 17 ruined penalties in real life too, that was terrible.
+1
Pique just posted a pic with neymar on instagram saying he stays. is he reliable?
+1
He is our president what you mean "is he reliable"??
For those claiming Neymar isn't on Messi and CR7 level, I beg to differ. Imo Neymar is on that level right now, in fact the only player better than Neymar now is Messi. When age catches up to Messi in a few years Neymar will be the best player in the world. The problem now is Neymar is impatient and wants the recognition and achievement as the best player in the world. I don't blame him. It is understandable since all athletes want to be the best in their respective fields.
you're contradicting your own statement in the same post. 1st you tell "Neymar is at same level as Messi and Ronaldo right now". 2nd line your telling he is only bettered by Messi and will reach that level in few years.

IMO he is 3rd or 4th best in the list below Messi and Ronaldo and very close to Suarez and maybe Bale who is always injured.

Simply dont judge going by great goals and drilling skills to compare players with Messi and Ronaldo. They both have carried teams for almost 10 years and consistently won everything leading from the front. At 25 age Messi and Ronaldo were banging goals almost every game..pure dominance which i have not seen from Neymar yet.
+7
It's not a contrediction. If we were playing a game and u and I were on level 10, but I was almost at the end and u were are almost near the half way mark then I would be ahead of u even though we are on the same level. Does that clarify it for you?

BTW imo Dybala is probably the one Neymar has to watch out for. Suarez is 30 and Bale is injured a lot.
I think it's very difficult to compare Neymar to Messi because their careers have been going very different routes. Messi's opportunities to play for the 1st team came very early on and he's been a starter since he was 20 years old. Neymar has to deal with that reality. He is a fantastic player and deserves to win a Ballon D'or, but Messi and Ronaldo have been too dominant for too long. Maybe he does have to go to another club to make his mark on football history SOONER, but I think he can afford to wait to take the mantle from Messi. Neither Messi or Ronaldo have shown definite signs of slowing down. Both are so dominant with scoring and assisting, they get criticized for a 3-4 game goal drought. They still score nearly 50 goals a season when they should be slowing down. I think it's very hard for Neymar to compensate for Messi's dominance because it's simply too great at this point. Plus he is still less consistent of a scorer than both Suarez and Messi. He's given plenty of goalscoring chances and all he needs is a 50 goal season of his own and the transition from Messi to Neymar is sure to happen. Messi will only move deeper into the playmaker role as time goes on anyway.
Don't understand how Bale is even in the top 5. Players like Hazard, Kroos, Modric, Lewa and many more are all ahead of Bale. Bale can't even stay fit for more than 2 months.
+8
Agreed, that Bale is not even in Top-6 right now...I was only considering forwards and goal scoring players. Hence left out Kroos , Modric etc. Also, i dint want to mention Hazard to sound biased.

Anyways Neymar is surely 3rd along with Suarez , Dybala ,Hazard below him . But the gap between Top-2 and 3rd is pretty big to catch-up. I would say Neymar has score at-least 45-50 goals for couple of season to be even considered in that bracket. Its not going to be easy for sure.

Messi and Ronaldo are Federer and Nadal of football. Players like Novak and Murray come-up with flashes of brilliance, but cant touch the legends.
At first it was all fun to be part of MSN but now at 25, I think the pressure to compete with guys like Messi and Ronaldo for the Ballon D'or is looking impossible unless he leaves. His Brazil's main man but he will always be in Messi's shadow and will have to content by not being the main man at Barca while Messi is still around. Then theirs the fact that his dad wants to get a cut of the transfer fee if his son Neymar goes to PSG and is probably pushing him to leave. His in a tough spot for sure, stay and win more titles but stay in the Messi's shadow or leave to another European giant that builds its squad around you.

It would be a big blow to Barca if he left but if the transfer fee is triggered Barca can buy Mbappe and probably toss 80mil to Dortmund and get Ousmane Dembele as well.
Nah for me Hazard is up there with the best. The guy is not and probably will never be a goal scoring machine but he does much more than that.

As for Neymar competing with Messi and Ronaldo. Barca is the best place for him to be. And if he really wants to be the main man then at least go to EPL. Why go to a dead Ligue that no one gives a s**t about.

The only way he would win the Ballon D'Or with PSG is if he wins the treble with them.
I miss the game today. Can anyone tell me how Semedo did? And how Sergi was playing in midfield.
Unreal second goal by Neymar today. However, as good as he is, for that much money anyone is replaceable, including Ronaldo and Messi.
+1
That would have been true 5-10 years ago but right now players like Lukaku go for 75 mil and Mbappe go for 120 mil. So I truly do believe Messi and Ronaldo are worth more than 222 mil. In today's market probably 500 mil each.
+1
There is a point when money isn't important to a club compared to a player because by keeping a player like Messi you can dominate European football and make revnue that is way more than the transfer fee
Someone watching Juventus vs Barcelona.. Such an entertaining game, doesn't look like a friendly at all.. Neymar's being a beast!! I hope he doesn't leave..:/
Neymar really is leaving to Psg. Wow, didn't see that coming
If he does is because he would want to be the main man. Can't see it happening though
It really is happening. Some very reliable Catalan sources say it's almost done
Sell him for 195m and use it to buy Mbappe and Verrati....He is no Messi or Ronaldo to categorized under irreplaceable's
+4
Agree with Bazinga, he's not irreplaceable but the only thing is IMO he will be in a couple of years. But if instead of staying at a club like Barca and taking over Messi he chooses to go to a club like PSG in a league like Ligue 1 then bye Neymar.

We can use that money to get Verratti (although PSG won't sell him) and Mbappe/Dembele. Or we can get Dembele and Mbappe since Verratti probably won't leave after Neymar goes there.

If there is a time where Neymar has to choose between becoming the best player in the world and making history or making lots of $$ then the time is right now.
+1
Apparently the Barca executives are not happy with his excessive party lifestyle.

If he is really being sold then we should use the money and get Coutinho, Veratti and Dyabala/Mbappe/Dembele.
I'm not sure what Neymar has been doing recently, but if it's true he's behaving like a diva, I hope we do sell him. And if we do, it'll be massive; €200+m.

Then it's time for Dybala and Veratti please! Dybala is arguably as good as Neymar anyway, and we all know Veratti's quality. Veratti's idol is Xavi and he has often said his dream is to be Xavi's heir at Barça.
+3
His release clause is 222m. If he wants to leave he can f**k off for all I care. It could be that he's using the PSG interest to get a better contract but if he really wants to go, we should go for Mbappe and Veratti with the 222m we will get from his sale. If PSG can buy him them why isn't Mourinho going for him? I'm pretty sure united can find a way to make him the face of their club and offer him a lot more money than PSG.
+1
Guys, we are not selling him. The rumor about the club being unhappy with his party style is not true. It seems his dad is the one pushing for this move since the man has had his assets frozen by the government. Neymar's dad approached Psg and signed a pre deal according to the Brazilian journalist who broke the story first.

222m is massive money. My concern is this board is absolutely clueless and will probably waste the money on average players like they did last summer.
If the partying rumours are true, then it almost feels like Déjà vu. I think that was one of the reasons Ronaldinho was let go.

However, the sources I've read are saying Barca are basically putting the ball in Neymar's court, it's entirely up to him.

Even if he somehow stays, the entire fiasco has done a lot of damage. He does this every summer, why keep him any longer?
good luck with trying to get veratti. They will be wanting 220m from you

and @Hikmat Barca has no say in this with a release clause being activated anyway
I love the overwhelming amount of love toward our player here. LOL
+3
I would like our team get Osman dembele, I find he is better than mbappe. Two footed, amazing dribbler, great vision and much suited for our playing style.I don't think they would let verrati to come here, we rather sign seri then.

Either way knowing our board, we would buy cutincho for 100 m, paulincho for 40 m plus spend 60 m for Wilshire as well with the money we are about to get from psg,lol
+1
@blackstyle88 I was going to say, now he's a villian because PSG bid on him and he might leave. smh. why do you guys feel entitled to his career? i doubt he'd leave barca, but so what if he wanted to? why would he deserve abuse?
^ I had seen lot of snake dimaria comments back then from man Utd fans, honest doubt, why did you so hard on them?did he deserves such? He wanted to move after all.more important why would you see any different here from your fans, lol.
+3
@SIF__I personally think he won't leave, but even he does I don't blame him. He is a good player, not irreplaceable, but good enough to become a face of a team. In Barca, unlucky for him, we have the best player in history of football, so it's really impossible for him to get the spot lights he really deserves/wishes for. At the same time he is gonna make way more money than what he does he, so from financial perspective, it's a smart move to actually move to Paris and get all he wants.
+2
No one is hating on him. But if he leaves he leaves. Good luck to him and I hope he does well. But it won't be bad because we can use that money to buy two world class players.

If he stays, then even better.
220m is a lot.

But 80m was a lot as well when we sold Ronaldo.

Neymar is probably the best player in the world if you don't include the other two
Congrats on the 220M. ParisUnited is reporting it as "done deal". Many says this source is very reliable.

https://twitter.com/parisunited6/status/888381728666025985
4ever - i cant believe you compared Neymar to Di Maria. One is one of the best players who contributed so much for the team and won many trophies already. One had 1 bad season and decided to go to his preferred club which he couldn't transfer to the year before. Did you know that just before Di Maria left he posted a long letter to fans saying how he appreciated the fans and would play much better in the upcoming season for UTD? It always sucks when a player wants to leave buy come on... Neymer deserves better than being compared to DM
^ but we aren't hating ney here, we are angry and disappointed because every transfer season, we hear transfer speculation about him, not just rumors more reliable thing.

We got him at barca with a price, our club's image been shattered because of the way he arrived, also it took a while for him to adapt with us.Now he wants to leave when he is about reach his peak ,so annoying.

Don't get me wrong, I like him, he is a great lad, the problem isn't him,it's his greedy father. But he has to be mature enough to decide his own life.
The bottom line is no player is irreplaceable except messi. If he's looking for more money and/or better status in the team then he's going to have to leave barca because other than Barça any team will make him their main star including madrid. Neymar used to party before he joined us and the comparisons to Ronaldinho are unnecessary because Dinho put in weight and used to come late for practice. Neymar is doing really well and apart from a bit of dip in form last year, he is imo the 2nd best player in the world.

If PSG activate his release clause and neymar is willing to move then we can't do anything about it but psg will want to balance their books for Fifa fair play rules. They will not mind getting some of that money back in a player swap plus cash deal. Verratti also doesn't have a release clause which actually might not be a bad thing. Offer money above his value and if verratti throws a temper tantrum, he might be on his way out.
+1
PSG have found a pretty good way of bypassing FIFA's totally useless rules.

A Qatari company will pay Neymar directly, who will activate his own release clause.

If they get Neymar, I think Veratti chances are gone. Neymar means they're going for it, believing they can win the CL. Why sell your best midfielder?
They were fined and punished for similar arrangements already. At the moment they will need to sell couple of big stars. Fifa is closely watching teams that get investments above their market value and with neymar it'll be a huge media splash. They will need to sell a couple of big players to balance their books.
Di maria was a snake, he didn't fight for his place. he was on the bench the last half of the season and didnt earn his stripes. He also then lied about wanting to join us, when he joined psg he said he wanted to go there but for financial reasons. Also he was supposed to show up for training in USA with rojo but missed his flight without informing staff and was sold shortly after. I feel he was forcing a move through his behavior.there was no reason we would sell so soon and for a loss of 15million

he is free to leave, like anyone else, but obviously he did not leave on good terms and was not worth the investment.
