Recorded in Westminster Abbey, March 1967, by the choir of Westminster Abbey, conducted by Douglas Guest. In 1965, the Blandford Press published a five-volume anthology entitled “The Treasury of English Church Music”. A year later, EMI issued on the HMV label a set of five complementary LPs to accompany the collected anthology. They featured the choir of Westminster Abbey, the cathedral choirs of St Paul’s, Chichester and Guildford, and the Ambrosian Singers. The original LPs have now been re-released as a CD box set, which also includes a large number of “bonus items” from other choirs, including this one.
