Perth man alleged to have had approximately two million child exploitation images: Police

WA detectives have charged a man after its alleged they located approximately two million child exploitation material images on his computers.

Detectives began investigating the 43-year-old man in April after it was alleged he sexually assaulted and indecently recorded three young girls known to him.

As part of the investigation detectives executed a search warrant on the man's home where they seized 19 computers and electronic storage devices. 

During an initial inspection of the devices detectives are alleged to have found child exploitation material.

As a result of the initial investigation the man was charged with a range of offences, including 10 counts of indecent dealing with a child under 13 and possess child exploitation material.

He appeared in court on those charges on April 7.

Child Abuse Squad detectives and Technology Crime Services investigators conducted a further analysis of the seized electronic devices.

It is alleged during this further analysis, investigators located approximately two million child exploitation images and identified a further six female victims aged between 5 and 9.

Child Abuse Squad detectives further charged the man last week with an additional 65 offences, including 39 counts of indecent dealing with a child under 13 and 16 counts of sexual penetration with a child under 13.

The 43-year-old man faced Perth Magistrates Court on Monday.

He was remanded in custody to appear in court again in August.
