Elegant Fuel “Good Service Never Gets Old"
What started as an innocent mail asking if we were interested in helping create a video for the Elegant Fuel brand turned into one of the most fun projects we’ve worked on in a long time! Working together with the Elegant Fuel team every step of the way, we set out to create a spot that encapsulated their brand of business, namely their attention to 'good old fashioned' great service.
In just 6 short weeks, we conceptualised, wrote and shot a fun commercial centred around the idea that “Good Service Never Gets Old”, featuring South African screen legends Frank Opperman and Norman Anstey, joined by former Generations actor Thami Mngqolo.
The shoot was not without it’s tribulations however, with the team having to overcome 39 degree heat, a classic car that need some convincing to start, and the noise of not only a fully-functioning fuel station to contend with, but also a busy N1 highway. Despite all this, we think it came out pretty great

Frank Opperman
Frank Opperman (born 8 June 1960, Johannesburg, South Africa) is a South African actor and musician. After attending numerous schools across South Africa in Worcester, Benoni, Hermanus and Middelburg, he matriculated from Silverton High School in Pretoria in 1978.
An interest in acting
He started studying law in 1979 at the University of Pretoria but soon lost interest and joined the South African Defence Force in 1980, where he played in an army marching band. Upon leaving the service, he dated a female drama student and became interested in acting as a career option. He subsequently obtained a three-year national diploma in acting at the Pretoria Technicon and received the Pretoria Trust Award for best student. While studying he married his first wife; however, the marriage lasted only 18 months.
The following two years he worked for PACT (Performing Arts Council Transvaal) and acted in productions such as Spring awakening and Caspar in my tuin. He also acted alongside fellow South African actor Arnold Vosloo in a full-length feature film called Boetie gaan border toe, but gained popularity in an Afrikaans sitcom called Orkney Snork Nie, created by Willie Esterhuisen, playing a character named Ouboet van Tonder. Later he starred in a television drama series The Big Time as Chris Karedes, a Cypriot emigrant. The series received numerous SABC Artes awards.

Jonathan Hammond (sport shooter)
Jonathan Hammond is a British sport shooter, who has competed for Scotland at the Commonwealth Games and Great Britain at the Olympics. He is currently the head coach of the rifle team at the West Virginia University.
Early life
Hammond was born on 1 October 1980 in Aberdeen, Scotland. He began shooting at Ardvreck School in Crieff, Perthshire and at the age of 13 he won the Scottish under-18s championships. At the age of 17 he won the World Junior Championship in prone rifle. Has a BA in geography and a masters in sport management.
2008 Olympics
At the 2008 Summer Olympics held in Beijing, China, Hammond competed in three events as the sole representative in rifle for Great Britain. In his first event, the men's 10 metres air rifle, Hammond scored 589 points to finish in 29th place as Abhinav Bindra won to become India's first ever individual Olympic gold medallist. Hammond came 34th in the 50 metre rifle prone again scoring 589 points as gold was won by Artur Ayvazian of Ukraine. In the 50 metres rifle three positions Hammond finished 42nd out of the 49 athletes who started in an event that was won by China's Qiu Jian

Michele Civetta is a filmmaker and multi-media artist and founder of Quintessence Films.
Career
Civetta has directed videos for Lou Reed, Sparklehorse, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Marracash, Ladytron, Yoko Ono. Commercials for Coca-Cola, Martini & Rossi, Cingular wireless, Badoit mineral water. In 2006 Civetta wrote and directed an ambitious and critically acclaimed musical feature for Sean Lennon's Capitol Records release Friendly Fire. The 50-minute film debuted January 2008 on Mark Cuban's HDNet channel.
Civetta is preparing a film based on the international bestseller Coin Locker Babies that was scheduled to shoot in the summer of 2010 in Thailand and Japan, a co-production between Don Murphy's Angry Films (Natural Born Killers, Bully, From Hell, Transformers) and the French Studio Wild Bunch (City of God, Irreversible, March of the Penguins, Che). Production was delayed to 2013; by May of that year, the project had been renamed Regular Boy, and it was listed in IMDB as being in "pre-production". Originally set to star Val Kilmer, Gael Garcia Bernal, Asia Argento, Brady Corbett, Jamie Cambell Bower, Devon Aoki and Tadanobu Asano, it now had Tadanobu Asano, Asia Argento and Brady Corbett confirmed.

In November 2015, we began working on the follow-up to the first, very successful commercial for our client Elegant Fuel. The brief? To showcase Elegant’s vast footprint in South Africa, timeous delivery methods and also feature their new branded fuel tanker. We (Peter van Jaarsveld and Gabrielle Gray from Embassy) pitched our creative approach in early December and began mapping out a route that would take us to some of the most iconic regions of our country, as well as some lesser-known but equally beautiful parts. Working closely with Elegant Group Director Ryno Strydom, we wrote a script that would allow us visualise how far Elegant Fuel are willing to go to reach their customers whilst showcasing the beauty of South Africa. We began shooting in early February 2016, with a small crew headed up by Embassy director Christiaan Rautenbach. Starting at Elegant Fuel’s flagship branch in Musina, we then travelled down to Cape Town for the second leg of filming. From Cape Town, we travelled to Niewoudtville via Van Rhyn’s Pass. From there we journeyed, with fuel tanker in tow, to the sparse and perhaps little-known area of Verneukpan, an empty, desert-like pan that has been historically used for land-speed tests. From here, we travelled onwards to the Garden Route, before heading back to Cape Town via Gordon’s Bay. Our third and final leg happened in and around Gauteng and included the world-famous Blyde River Canyon, Nelson Mandela Bridge, and a cameo from the star of our first commercial, Frank Opperman. Special mention must also be made of our super-hero driver, Timothy Banda, who handled his first-time acting experience like a professional! Timothy has been driving fuel tankers for almost 20 years and it was fantastic having he and his expertise on board with us. All in all, we covered around 9000kms over the course of two full weeks and got about 14 hours of footage. Needless to say, the edit process was slightly daunting! Evy Katz from Left Post Production was tasked with editing it down to a mere 45 seconds, and did a superb job of summarising our epic journey into a beautiful, heartwarming tale of our driver’s journey across South Africa as he delivers fuel to Elegant Fuel customers. Part of our initial creative approach was to combine our ‘epic’ visuals with an equally epic musical track that would enhance the message and make it memorable for viewers long they’d watched it on TV. Myself and Peter, with the help of Nigel Laver from The Kitchen Sync, searched through thousands of songs sourced by Nigel over the 3 month production period, eventually settling on a little-known 1950’s recording from African Jazz singer Dorothy Masuka called “Hamba Notsokolo” which speaks to leaving bad times behind and moving onwards - quite fitting! All in all, it was a once-in-a-lifetime production for a client that trusted us implicitly every step of the way, making it not only the most memorable and fun we’ve worked on, but also one we are very proud of. Elegant Fuel “Good Service Never Gets Old" What started as an innocent mail asking if we were interested in helping create a video for the Elegant Fuel brand turned into one of the most fun projects we’ve worked on in a long time! Working together with the Elegant Fuel team every step of the way, we set out to create a spot that encapsulated their brand of business, namely their attention to 'good old fashioned' great service. In just 6 short weeks, we conceptualised, wrote and shot a fun commercial centred around the idea that “Good Service Never Gets Old”, featuring South African screen legends Frank Opperman and Norman Anstey, joined by former Generations actor Thami Mngqolo. STATEMENT : Astarte is the ancient Phoenician Goddess of Fertility, Motherhood and War. She was called the mother of souls in Heaven, the Moon surrounded by her star children to whom she gave astral Bodies. I chose to create a modern ritualistic occult ceremony where the Goddess was called upon in an incantation. I believe dreams offer fragments of the collective unconscious;todays heritage includes the media we absorb. Elegant Fuel Road Trip
In November 2015, we began working on the follow-up to the first, very successful commercial for our client Elegant Fuel. The brief? To showcase Elegant’s vast footprint in South Africa, timeous delivery methods and also feature their new branded fuel tanker. We (Peter van Jaarsveld and Gabrielle Gray from Embassy) pitched our creative approach in early December and began mapping out a route that would take us to some of the most iconic regions of our country, as well as some lesser-known but equally beautiful parts. Working closely with Elegant Group Director Ryno Strydom, we wrote a script that would allow us visualise how far Elegant Fuel are willing to go to reach their customers whilst showcasing the beauty of South Africa. What started as an innocent mail asking if we were interested in helping create a video for the Elegant Fuel brand turned into one of the most fun projects we’ve worked on in a long time! Working together with the Elegant Fuel team every step of the way, we set out to create a spot that encapsulated their brand of business, namely their attention to 'good old fashioned' great service.
In just 6 short weeks, we conceptualised, wrote and shot a fun commercial centred around the idea that “Good Service Never Gets Old”, featuring South African screen legends Frank Opperman and Norman Anstey, joined by former Generations actor Thami Mngqolo.
The shoot was not without it’s tribulations however, with the team having to overcome 39 degree heat, a classic car that need some convincing to start, and the noise of not only a fully-functioning fuel station to contend with, but also a busy N1 highway. Despite all this, we think it came out pretty great

The film showcase brought together internationally known filmmakers, artists, futurists and all-around visionaries to produce 42 films on their personal interpretation of what it means to dream. Each film is 42 seconds long, hence the name: 42x42.
ONEDREAMRUSH’s aim was to unite the world’s premier directors in China, under the umbrella of complete artistic autonomy to create and showcase their work in the country for the first time. Ultimately, the projects aim is to foster the spirit of ingenuity in the world’s youthful filmmakers by bringing the best of the world’s leaders in film together to explore their creative capacity around a concept universally shared by every living human: Dreams.

In November 2015, we began working on the follow-up to the first, very successful commercial for our client Elegant Fuel. The brief? To showcase Elegant’s vast footprint in South Africa, timeous delivery methods and also feature their new branded fuel tanker.
We (Peter van Jaarsveld and Gabrielle Gray from Embassy) pitched our creative approach in early December and began mapping out a route that would take us to some of the most iconic regions of our country, as well as some lesser-known but equally beautiful parts. Working closely with Elegant Group Director Ryno Strydom, we wrote a script that would allow us visualise how far Elegant Fuel are willing to go to reach their customers whilst showcasing the beauty of South Africa.
We began shooting in early February 2016, with a small crew headed up by Embassy director Christiaan Rautenbach. Starting at Elegant Fuel’s flagship branch in Musina, we then travelled down to Cape Town for the second leg of filming. From Cape Town, we travelled to Niewoudtville via Van Rhyn’s Pass. From there we journeyed, with fuel tanker in tow, to the sparse and perhaps little-known area of Verneukpan, an empty, desert-like pan that has been historically used for land-speed tests.
From here, we travelled onwards to the Garden Route, before heading back to Cape Town via Gordon’s Bay. Our third and final leg happened in and around Gauteng and included the world-famous Blyde River Canyon, Nelson Mandela Bridge, and a cameo from the star of our first commercial, Frank Opperman.
Special mention must also be made of our super-hero driver, Timothy Banda, who handled his first-time acting experience like a professional! Timothy has been driving fuel tankers for almost 20 years and it was fantastic having he and his expertise on board with us.
All in all, we covered around 9000kms over the course of two full weeks and got about 14 hours of footage. Needless to say, the edit process was slightly daunting! Evy Katz from Left Post Production was tasked with editing it down to a mere 45 seconds, and did a superb job of summarising our epic journey into a beautiful, heartwarming tale of our driver’s journey across South Africa as he delivers fuel to Elegant Fuel customers.
Part of our initial creative approach was to combine our ‘epic’ visuals with an equally epic musical track that would enhance the message and make it memorable for viewers long they’d watched it on TV. Myself and Peter, with the help of Nigel Laver from The Kitchen Sync, searched through thousands of songs sourced by Nigel over the 3 month production period, eventually settling on a little-known 1950’s recording from African Jazz singer Dorothy Masuka called “Hamba Notsokolo” which speaks to leaving bad times behind and moving onwards - quite fitting!
All in all, it was a once-in-a-lifetime production for a client that trusted us implicitly every step of the way, making it not only the most memorable and fun we’ve worked on, but also one we are very proud of.

Frank Cullotta was born in Chicago in 1938. As a youth he embarked on a decades-long criminal career, hanging around with some of the toughest kids on the Windy City’s streets. Frank and several of his associates went on to become accomplished thieves, arsonists, and killers. One of those was Frank’s friend, Tony “the Ant” Spilotro, who gained notoriety as a ruthless Chicago Outfit enforcer. Tony was the mob’s top man in Las Vegas during the 1970s and through the mid-1980s. Frank was his main man for much of that time. Together, they and their gang ruled the Vegas underworld.
In 1982, the two men had a falling out that resulted in Frank rolling and becoming a government witness. His testimony was instrumental in putting a number of mobsters behind bars and causing the Outfit to lose its control over Las Vegas. Although the mob issued a contract on his life, Frank survived his time in prison and the Witness Protection Program. He is now a free man. His tell-all biography, Cullotta, is due to be released in May 2007.

The Knockout (1914) was Charlie Chaplin's seventeenth film for Keystone Studios. Chaplin only has a small role, and Fatty Arbuckle takes up the main role (it is one of only a few films in which Chaplin's Little Tramp character appears in a secondary role; Chaplin doesn't even appear until the second half of the film). It also stars Arbuckle's wife, Minta Durfee, Edgar Kennedy and Keystone owner, Mack Sennett in a minor role as a spectator. The film was directed by Charles Avery, and made in 1914 in America.
Pug, a down-and-out hobo, is talked into pretending he is Cyclone Flynn, the boxing champion, and entering the ring for a fight. When the real Cyclone shows up, Pug ends up having to trade punches with him instead.

One of those was Frank’s friend, Tony “the Ant” Spilotro, who gained notoriety as a ruthless Chicago Outfit enforcer. Tony was the mob’s top man in Las Vegas during the 1970s and through the mid-1980s. Frank was his main man for much of that time. Together, they and their gang ruled the Vegas underworld.
In 1982, the two men had a falling out that resulted in Frank rolling and becoming a government witness. His testimony was instrumental in putting a number of mobsters behind bars and causing the Outfit to lose its control over Las Vegas. Although the mob issued a contract on his life, Frank survived his time in prison and the Witness Protection Program. He is now a free man. His tell-all biography, Cullotta, is due to be released in May 2007.

In 2002, Dennis turned his attention to non-fiction. Policing Las Vegas (Huntington Press, April 2005) follows the evolution of law enforcement in Las Vegas and Clark County from 1905 thru 2005. That successful debut was followed by The Battle for Las Vegas – The Law vs the Mob (Huntington Press, April 2006).
This latest book tells the inside story of Chicago Outfit enforcer Tony Spilotro’s reign in Vegas, and the war law enforcement waged to remove him. The Hollywood version of that era was reflected in the 1995 movie Casino, in which actor Joe Pesci played a character based on Spilotro.
Mr. Griffin is an active member of the Henderson Writers Group, Wizards Of Words, and the Public Safety Writers Association.

To showcase Elegant’s vast footprint in South Africa, timeous delivery methods and also feature their new branded fuel tanker. Elegant Fuel “Good Service Never Gets Old"
What started as an innocent mail asking if we were interested in helping create a video for the Elegant Fuel brand turned into one of the most fun projects we’ve worked on in a long time! Working together with the Elegant Fuel team every step of the way, we set out to create a spot that encapsulated their brand of business, namely their attention to 'good old fashioned' great service.
In just 6 short weeks, we conceptualised, wrote and shot a fun commercial centred around the idea that “Good Service Never Gets Old”, featuring South African screen legends Frank Opperman and Norman Anstey, joined by former Generations actor Thami Mngqolo.
The shoot was not without it’s tribulations however, with the team having to overcome 39 degree heat, a classic car that need some convincing to start, and the noise of not only a fully-functioning fuel station to contend with, but also a busy N1 highway. Despite all this, we think it came out pretty great

Astarte is the ancient Phoenician Goddess of Fertility, Motherhood and War. She was called the mother of souls in Heaven, the Moon surrounded by her star children to whom she gave astral Bodies. I chose to create a modern ritualistic occult ceremony where the Goddess was called upon in an incantation.
I believe dreams offer fragments of the collective unconscious;todays heritage includes the media we absorb. The film that intertwines the narrative is an old Black Magic mass from the 1920’s that portrays all the gruesome delights necessary to invoke the Goddess Astarte, Ritual bloodletting, flogging, Enchain Sex Magic & a little fellatio with a fellow who bears a striking resemblance to Satan.

In November 2015, we began working on the follow-up to the first, very successful commercial for our client Elegant Fuel. The brief? To showcase Elegant’s vast footprint in South Africa, timeous delivery methods and also feature their new branded fuel tanker.
We (Peter van Jaarsveld and Gabrielle Gray from Embassy) pitched our creative approach in early December and began mapping out a route that would take us to some of the most iconic regions of our country, as well as some lesser-known but equally beautiful parts. Working closely with Elegant Group Director Ryno Strydom, we wrote a script that would allow us visualise how far Elegant Fuel are willing to go to reach their customers whilst showcasing the beauty of South Africa.
We began shooting in early February 2016, with a small crew headed up by Embassy director Christiaan Rautenbach. Starting at Elegant Fuel’s flagship branch in Musina, we then travelled down to Cape Town for the second leg of filming. From Cape Town, we travelled to Niewoudtville via Van Rhyn’s Pass. From there we journeyed, with fuel tanker in tow, to the sparse and perhaps little-known area of Verneukpan, an empty, desert-like pan that has been historically used for land-speed tests.
From here, we travelled onwards to the Garden Route, before heading back to Cape Town via Gordon’s Bay. Our third and final leg happened in and around Gauteng and included the world-famous Blyde River Canyon, Nelson Mandela Bridge, and a cameo from the star of our first commercial, Frank Opperman.
Special mention must also be made of our super-hero driver, Timothy Banda, who handled his first-time acting experience like a professional! Timothy has been driving fuel tankers for almost 20 years and it was fantastic having he and his expertise on board with us.
All in all, we covered around 9000kms over the course of two full weeks and got about 14 hours of footage. Needless to say, the edit process was slightly daunting! Evy Katz from Left Post Production was tasked with editing it down to a mere 45 seconds, and did a superb job of summarising our epic journey into a beautiful, heartwarming tale of our driver’s journey across South Africa as he delivers fuel to Elegant Fuel customers.
Part of our initial creative approach was to combine our ‘epic’ visuals with an equally epic musical track that would enhance the message and make it memorable for viewers long they’d watched it on TV. Myself and Peter, with the help of Nigel Laver from The Kitchen Sync, searched through thousands of songs sourced by Nigel over the 3 month production period, eventually settling on a little-known 1950’s recording from African Jazz singer Dorothy Masuka called “Hamba Notsokolo” which speaks to leaving bad times behind and moving onwards - quite fitting!
All in all, it was a once-in-a-lifetime production for a client that trusted us implicitly every step of the way, making it not only the most memorable and fun we’ve worked on, but also one we are very proud of.

His tell-all biography, Cullotta, is due to be released in May 2007.

Dennis N. Griffin retired in 1994 after a twenty-year career in investigations and law enforcement in New York State, and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada later that year. In 1996 he wrote his first novel, The Morgue, based on an actual case he investigated. He currently has six mystery/thriller books in print.
In 2002, Dennis turned his attention to non-fiction. Policing Las Vegas (Huntington Press, April 2005) follows the evolution of law enforcement in Las Vegas and Clark County from 1905 thru 2005. That successful debut was followed by The Battle for Las Vegas – The Law vs the Mob (Huntington Press, April 2006).
This latest book tells the inside story of Chicago Outfit enforcer Tony Spilotro’s reign in Vegas, and the war law enforcement waged to remove him. The Hollywood version of that era was reflected in the 1995 movie Casino, in which actor Joe Pesci played a character based on Spilotro.
Mr. Griffin is an active member of the Henderson Writers Group, Wizards Of Words, and the Public Safety Writers Association.

Dennis N. Griffin retired in 1994 after a twenty-year career in investigations and law enforcement in New York State, and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada later that year. In 1996 he wrote his first novel, The Morgue, based on an actual case he investigated. He currently has six mystery/thriller books in print.
In 2002, Dennis turned his attention to non-fiction. Policing Las Vegas (Huntington Press, April 2005) follows the evolution of law enforcement in Las Vegas and Clark County from 1905 thru 2005. That successful debut was followed by The Battle for Las Vegas – The Law vs the Mob (Huntington Press, April 2006).
This latest book tells the inside story of Chicago Outfit enforcer Tony Spilotro’s reign in Vegas, and the war law enforcement waged to remove him. The Hollywood version of that era was reflected in the 1995 movie Casino, in which actor Joe Pesci played a character based on Spilotro.
Mr. Griffin is an active member of the Henderson Writers Group, Wizards Of Words, and the Public Safety Writers Association.
