This came after witnesses reported seeing a black Mercedes-Benz, apparently the same model Ms Ristevski drove, in the Mount Macedon area the day of her disappearance.
One witness told investigators a lone male was also seen near the car.
Ms Ristevski was last seen after a fight with her husband, Borce Ristevski.
Mr Ristevski remains a key person of interest in the case and police have not ruled him out as the driver of the vehicle.
In June, police released CCTV footage of a Mercedes-Benz SLK coupe identical to Ms Ristevski's travelling through Diggers Rest toward Mount Macedon on the day she went missing.
The registration was not visible in the footage, but investigators were working under the hypothesis it was the missing woman's car.
Mr Ristevski reportedly told detectives he had driven his wife's 2004 Mercedes-Benz coupe on the day she disappeared to test a faulty fuel gauge.
He said the car hit a bump in the road and the problem fixed itself, so he turned around and returned home.
Fairfax Media is not suggesting Mr Ristevski was involved in Ms Ristevski's disappearance.
