San Antonio (/ˌsænænˈtoʊni.oʊ/ Spanish for "Saint Anthony"), officially the City of San Antonio, is the seventh most populated city in the United States of America and the second most populated city in the state of Texas, with a population of 1,409,019. It was the fastest growing of the top 10 largest cities in the United States from 2000 to 2010, and the second from 1990 to 2000. The city is located in the American Southwest, the south–central part of Texas, and the southwestern corner of an urban region known as the Texas Triangle.
San Antonio serves as the seat of Bexar County. Recent annexations have extended the city's boundaries into Medina County and, though for only a very tiny area near the city of Garden Ridge, into Comal County. The city has characteristics of other western urban centers in which there are sparsely populated areas and a low density rate outside of the city limits. San Antonio is the center of the San Antonio–New Braunfels Metropolitan Statistical Area. Commonly referred to as Greater San Antonio, the metropolitan area has a population of over 2.3 million based on the 2014 US Census estimate, making it the 25th-largest metropolitan area in the United States and third-largest in the state of Texas. Growth along the Interstate 35 and Interstate 10 corridors to the north, west and east make it likely that the metropolitan area will continue to expand.
William Telemachus McManus (1780 in Brunswick, Rensselaer County, New York – January 18, 1835 in Brunswick, Rensselaer Co., NY) was an American lawyer and politician from New York.
He was the son of Hugh McManus (1747–1826) and Mary McManus (1751–1834). He attended Lansingburgh Academy. Then he studied law with John Bird, was admitted to the bar, and commenced practice in Troy, New York. He married Catharina Coons, and they had four children, among them Jane (McManus) Cazneau (1807–1878). He was Surrogate of Rensselaer County from 1815 to 1818, and District Attorney from 1818 to 1821.
McManus was elected as an Adams man to the 19th United States Congress, holding office from March 4, 1825, to March 3, 1827. Afterwards he resumed the practice of law.
In 1832, McManus ventured into land speculation, and was one of the founders of the Galveston Bay and Texas Land Company. The next year, he set out with his son Robert, his daughter Jane and a company of German settlers for Texas, which was then still part of Mexico. The scheme failed when the German settlers refused to go beyond Matagorda, and McManus returned with his daughter to Brunswick, NY, in 1834, and died there soon after. His son Robert remained in Texas and became a wealthy planter.
A Chief of Police, also known as Police Chief or sometimes shortened to just Chief, is the title typically given to the top official in the chain of command of a police department, particularly in North America. Alternate titles for this position include Police Commissioner, Colonel (according to Rhode Island State Police), Police Superintendent, and Chief Constable. In contrast to a Sheriff (who is generally elected by the voters of a county, except in the states of Rhode Island and Hawaii), a Chief of Police is usually a municipal employee who owes his allegiance to a city or town. Some states have both an appointed and an elected Chief of Police (Louisiana). In some jurisdictions the head of the police commission is the leader of the police and holds a position analogous or similar to the one described here, in this case he is referred to as Commissioner. The New York City Police Department has both a Police Commissioner and a Chief, formerly called the Chief Inspector, now called the Chief of Department. In Louisiana, a Chief of Police may serve as the Chief of Police, Marshal, and Constable for a city. The fraternal organization International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) is an organization often associated with many Chiefs of Police.
William may refer to:
Antonio is a Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese first name of Latin origin. In the English language it is translated as Anthony, and has some female derivatives: Antonia, Antónia, Antonieta, Antonietta, and Antonella. It also has some male derivatives, such as Anthonio, Antò, Antonis, Antoñito, Antonino, Antonello, Tonio, Toño, Toñín, Tonino, Nantonio, Totò, Tó, Tony, Toni, Toninho, and Toñito.
The Portuguese equivalent is António (Portuguese orthography) or Antônio (Brazilian Portuguese). In old Portuguese the form Antão was also used, In Galician the form Antón. The Greek versions fxxxx general Marcus Antonius held that the origin of the name was Anthon, son of Hercules. This myth, recorded by Plutarch, was probably created by Marcus Antonius himself, in order to claim divine parentage. The name was in use throughout the Roman world which, at its height, comprised the whole of the Mediterranean and much of Europe as well as the Middle East. When the Roman Empire became Christian, the name continued in popularity because of the many great saints who bore the name. Later, the name was spread all around the world as Christianity was introduced to other places (e.g. the Far East, the Americas, and Sub-Saharan Africa).
The views expressed here are those of the individual only and not those of the Air Force or DoD. Alex Jones, of Infowars.com, and Anthony Gucciardi, of Storyleak.com, interview San Antonio Police Chief William McManus. Make note of how the chief answers in as low of a voice as possible. He doesn't want to be on record so he makes sure you can hardly hear his responses. I made comments to the private security thug that his gun was printing and was told later that day that it is legal to have your concealed carry piece print in Texas. Just goes to show you there is room for improvement in everyone. I still stand my ground on the comment that if I did that I would be arrested. SAN ANTONIO -- "Redemption Day" is what the family of now police Captain Joe Salvaggio is calling his promotion Friday following a 4-year court battle. Salvaggio was fired by San Antonio Police Chief William McManus after false allegations were made concerning cheating during the captains exam. Salvaggio won in arbitration to get his job back. But the City of San Antonio and the San Antonio Police Department spent the next 4 years and at least a $1 million to try to keep him from returning to the department. That ended when the Texas Supreme Court refused to hear their appeal and ordered Salvaggio be reinstated and promoted. The media was not allowed to attend Friday's promotion ceremony. We asked the police department for an interview with Captain Salvaggio, but our request was ...

2002 - John F. McManus discussed his book William F. Buckley, Jr.: Pied Piper for the Establishment, published by The John Birch Society. The book is a critical examination of Buckley’s life and career. According to Mr. McManus, William F. Buckley, Jr. was chosen by the “liberal establishment” as the chief spokesman for conservatives. Mr. McManus addressed what he views as Buckley’s promotion of liberal causes, including abortion, drugs, and pornography, his connections to the CIA and Yale’s Skull & Bones Society; and his criticism of John Birch Society founder Robert Welch. Following his remarks, Mr. McManus responded to questions from members of the audience.
