HIV symptoms
Within a month or two of HIV entering the body, 40% to 90% of people experience flulike symptoms known as acute retroviral syndrome (ARS).
But sometimes HIV symptoms don't appear for years—sometimes even a decade—after infection.
"In the early stages of HIV infection, the most common symptoms are none,"
One in five people in the United States with HIV doesn't know they have it, which is why it's so important to get tested, especially if you have unprotected sex with more than one partner or use intravenous drugs.
Here are some signs that may be HIV-positive.
Described are 16 symptoms that I experienced from the time that I contracted HIV (summer of 2013) till my diagnosis on 2/15/16 two and half years later.
Remember that many of these symptoms alone don't mean you have HIV, it was the combination of symptoms that should have been a signal to a physician, but it wasn't. In my case, the HIV had time to attack my immune system and as a result I was diagnosed with AIDS.

This film doesn't so much delve into the 'origin' of HIV / Aids but it very effectively explains a widely accepted and logical theory of how the virus spread through polio vaccination programs .

****SOME CORRECTIONS****
As stated in the video I couldn't remember some things off of the top of my head like the fact that Positive mothers can birth NEGATIVE children BUT proper medications must be taken & ALSO not everyone takes 5 pills a day I stated that SOME do and others from 1+ depending on your treatment! I also meant to say "world" instead of ppl in "USA" with HIV/aids and keep in mind the those statistics are just of those who have come forth to reveal their status, there are many that haven't been accounted for unfortunately. Thanks for watching!

The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a lentivirus (a subgroup of retrovirus) that causes HIV infection and over time acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). AIDS is a condition in humans in which progressive failure of the immune system allows life-threatening opportunistic infections and cancers to thrive. Without treatment, average survival time after infection with HIV is estimated to be 9 to 11 years, depending on the HIV subtype. Infection with HIV occurs by the transfer of blood, semen, vaginal fluid, pre-ejaculate, or breast milk. Within these bodily fluids, HIV is present as both free virus particles and virus within infected immune cells.
HIV infects vital cells in the human immune system such as helper T cells (specifically CD4+ T cells), macrophages, and dendritic cells. HIV infection leads to low levels of CD4+ T cells through a number of mechanisms, including pyroptosis of abortively infected T cells,apoptosis of uninfected bystander cells, direct viral killing of infected cells, and killing of infected CD4+ T cells by CD8 cytotoxic lymphocytes that recognize infected cells. When CD4+ T cell numbers decline below a critical level, cell-mediated immunity is lost, and the body becomes progressively more susceptible to opportunistic infections.

As stated in the video I couldn't remember some things off of the top of my head like the fact that Positive mothers can birth NEGATIVE children BUT proper medications must be taken & ALSO not everyone takes 5 pills a day I stated that SOME do and others from 1+ depending on your treatment! I also meant to say "world" instead of ppl in "USA" with HIV/aids and keep in mind the those statistics are just of those who have come forth to reveal their status, there are many that haven't been accounted for unfortunately. Thanks for watching!

One in five people in the United States with HIV doesn't know they have it, which is why it's so important to get tested, especially if you have unprotected sex with more than one partner or use intravenous drugs.

Remember that many of these symptoms alone don't mean you have HIV, it was the combination of symptoms that should have been a signal to a physician, but it wasn't. In my case, the HIV had time to attack my immune system and as a result I was diagnosed with AIDS.

As stated in the video I couldn't remember some things off of the top of my head like the fact that Positive mothers can birth NEGATIVE children BUT proper medications must be taken & ALSO not everyone takes 5 pills a day I stated that SOME do and others from 1+ depending on your treatment! I also meant to say "world" instead of ppl in "USA" with HIV/aids and keep in mind the those statistics are just of those who have come forth to reveal their status, there are many that haven't been accounted for unfortunately. Thanks for watching!

However, for gay black men in America, the chances of getting HIV in a lifetime are still one in two. In some Southern states, the rates of infection for black men who have sex with men rival rates in underdeveloped countries like Botswana. Once diagnosed with HIV, these men are unable to access the medicine, clinical resources and psychological support they need to keep life threatening AIDS diagnoses at bay.
