Léon Mathot (5 March 1886, Roubaix, Nord-Pas-de-Calais - 6 March 1968, in Paris) was a French film actor and film director best known perhaps for playing Edmond Dantes in The Count of Monte Cristo film serial in 1918.
He appeared in the 1923 silent film Coeur fidèle, directed by Jean Epstein.
He starred in some 60 films mostly in silent film between 1906 and 1939. He turned director in 1927 whilst still appearing in several films and retired in 1953 directing well over 20 films.
Léon Orthel (4 October 1905, Roosendaal – 6 September 1985, The Hague) was a Dutch composer, pianist and teacher.
In 1921 he became a student of the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. He studied violin with André Spoor, piano with Eduard van Beinum and composition with Johan Wagenaar. He later studied at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik with Paul Juon and Curt Sachs.
His compositions include among other works 6 symphonies and two cello concertos.
His third and fifth symphonies received awards from the Dutch government, in 1946 and 1962 respectively.
Charles Pathé (French: [pate]; 26 December 1863 – 25 December 1957) was a major French pioneer of the film and recording industries.
The son of a butcher shop owner, Charles Pathé was born at Chevry-Cossigny, in the Seine-et-Marne département of France. In 1894, together with his brother Émile, he formed Pathé Records. Two years later they created the Société Pathé Frères to enter the motion picture production and distribution business. Both companies would become a dominant international force in their respective industries.
In 1929, Charles Pathé sold out his interest in the businesses and retired to Monaco where he died in 1957.
Leon, Léon (French) or León (Spanish) may refer to:
A film festival is an organized, extended presentation of films in one or more cinemas or screening venues, usually in a single city or region. Increasingly, film festivals show some films outdoors. Films may be of recent date and, depending upon the festival's focus, can include international and domestic releases. Some festivals focus on a specific film-maker or genre (e.g., film noir) or subject matter (e.g., horror film festivals). A number of film festivals specialise in short films of a defined maximum length. Film festivals are typically annual events. Some film historians do not consider Film Festivals as official releases of film, like Jerry Beck. The best known film festivals are the Venice Film Festival, the Cannes Film Festival, the Toronto Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, and the Berlin International Film Festival, the latter being the largest film festival worldwide, based on attendance. The Venice Film Festival is the oldest major festival. The Melbourne International Film Festival is the largest film festival in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the oldest in the world. A 2013 study found 3,000 active films festivals worldwide—active defined as having held an event in the previous 24 months.

Andantino 05:15 - III. Capriccietto {Allegretto} Possibly because of Willem Pijper's appreciation for the Sonatina-form, it was frequently used (especially in The Netherlands) by composers who were active in the early twentieth century. Léon Orthel, who actually had nothing to do with the school of Pijper, composed quite a few pieces in the genre, like this Sonatina No. 3, a small but wonderful piece for piano. The sonatina is dedicated: "Voor Tineke Zeevenhooven".

Hommage en forme d'étude; Ravel - 01:55 Sepp Grotenhuis, piano dedicated to Susana Frugone Léon Orthel was a Dutch composer and pianist. By 1921 he was already studying with Wagenaar. A state scholarship enabled him to continue his composition training with Juon and Sachs at the Berlin Musikhochschule (1928-1929), after which he returned to Wagenaar for one year. He was professor of piano at The Hague Royal Conservatory (1941-1971) and of composition at the Amsterdam Conservatory (1949-1971). In the 1930s he strived for an independent voice, dissociating himself from the then current polytonal and atonal techniques; the results of this are evident in one of...

Reinders said of this acquaintance: "His student Ton Hartsuiker, who was to play in a student-concert, called: ‘Students play their masters’, asked me to sing three early songs by Orthel [this Opus 26]. Orthel loved my performance and I loved the songs on words by Rainer Maria Rilke which suited me marvelously.
