MIFF 56th Shorts Awards 2017

MIFF features one of the most highly regarded short film competitions in the Southern Hemisphere. Thanks to our Shorts Awards Partners, eligible short films compete for a total cash prize pool of $56,000:

City of Melbourne Grand Prix for Best Short Film

Film Victoria Erwin Rado Award for Best Australian Short Film

Swinburne Award for Emerging Australian Filmmaker

Cinema Nova Award for Best Fiction Short Film

RMIT University Award for Best Documentary Short Film

SAE Award for Best Animation Short Film

School of Culture and Communication Award for Best Experimental Short Film

The MIFF Shorts Awards are Academy Awards accredited and the winners of the Best MIFF Short, Best Australian and Best Documentary awards are eligible to submit their films to the 90th Academy Awards in 2018
