Anthony John Fox (born 25 April 1946) is a British statistician, who has worked in both the public service and academia.
He was born on 25 April 1946, the son of Fred Frank Fox OBE. He was educated at Dauntsey's School, University College London (BSc) and Imperial College London (PhD). He was a statistician at the Employment Medical Advisory Service, 1970-5 and then the Medical Statistics Division of the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys (OPCS) until 1979. In the latter job, he helped to set up the England and Wales Longitudinal Survey, which monitors the health, address changes and fertility of a 1% sample of the population of England and Wales over time for statistical purposes.
During 1980-8, he was Professor of Social Statistics at City University, building up his department into one of the world's leading centres for social statistics. He returned to OPCS in 1988 as the United Kingdom Chief Medical Statistician. In 1990, he took on the additional post of honorary professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Plot: After a car accident, Lizzie lies dead on the roadside - slowly she is taken into the light - but is pulled back to earth when she is revived by the doctors. Lizzie feels sure that during the 184 seconds that she lay dead, something latched on to her and came back into her world. The nightmares and visions that follow only crystallize her belief that she should have died in the crash... Then the disturbances start, at first merely tappings and bad smells - but soon the activity escalates. Lizzie seems to be the focus, but according to others, she's just playing games for attention. Only when Kate, her mother, is confronted with inexplicable events does she face the possibility that they may be the victims of a poltergeist infestation.

In the 2012 presidential election, Silver correctly predicted the winner of all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Between his electoral and popular vote predictions, he was by some measures the most successful major forecaster of the presidential election. Silver's predictions of U.S. Senate races were correct in 31 of 33 states; he predicted Republican victory in North Dakota and Montana, where Democrats won. --Wikipedia Nate Silver joins Hal Varian (Google's Chief Economist) to talk about his book "The Signal and the Noise: Why So Many Predictions Fail-but Some Don't" and answer Googler questions.

He goes on to talk about his ideological development and reacting negatively to the Vietnam protests. Question: Does personal experience shape your approach to the law? Richard Posner: Well I think very substantially. This is the fun of it actually. American law is extremely uncertain. And now the majority, even, given that the majority of cases are cut and dried if you look across the whole American system with their millions of cases filed every year. And most of them have no merit, or some have obvious merit. But when you're talking about a federal appeals court, a significant fraction of the cases that come to us arise in unsettled...

Chronicling the rise and fall of the efficient market theory and the century-long making of the modern financial industry, Justin FoThe Myth of the Rational Market is as much an intellectual whodunit as a cultural history of the perils and possibilities of risk. Stats has a media problem. Journalists can distort numbers, exaggerate risk and ignore basic rules of sampling and data handling. Things are improving, but the price of accuracy is constant vigilance. This video doesn't just look at how statisticians can protect themselves against misreporting. It's also about exploiting opportunities to get statistics into the public domain through the media, through more imaginative presentations and user-friendly releases. We've put together a panel of people who work with stats, who are in constant contact with the media. What do they recommend, both pro-actively and defensively? Can media organisations be pushed into greater care with stats? Are there new rules of the road for social media? The panel is moderated by David Walker, director of RSS gets...

Author John Fox visits Google Cambridge to discuss his new book, "The Ball." From the book's description: "Anthropologist John Fox sets off on a worldwide adventure to the farthest reaches of the globe and the deepest recesses of our ancient past to answer a question inspired by his sports-loving son: "'Why do we play ball?' "From Mexican jungles to the small-town gridirons of Ohio, from medieval villages and royal courts to modern soccer pitches and baseball parks, The Ball explores the little-known origins of our favorite sports across the centuries, and traces how a simple invention like the ball has come to stake an unrivaled claim on our passions, our money, and our lives. Equal parts history and travelogue, The Ball removes us from the scandals and commercialism of today's sports ...

As the former head of Soviet military intelligence for all of Western Europe, Krivitsky was a man who knew too much… and shared it with British Intelligence. He was a haunted and hunted man when he checked into DC’s Hotel Bellvue one February night in 1941. FBI Historian, Dr. John Fox, will reveal the path that led Krivitsky to Room 524 and the top theories about what occurred there that night. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/IntlSpyMuseum Twitter: https://twitter.com/intlspymuseum SpyBlog: http://blog.spymuseum.org

Why is Fox still trying? Is it pride? Is it money? Do they actually think they have a good idea this time? Isn’t it time for them to give up on the Fantastic Four stuff? 15:18 MrYazMan300 - Who are some of the director or actors you think the media is overhyping them as the next best thing even though you don't think they are. In twilight's last gleaming
The sky slides away
Leaving me here at
The edge of the day
Songs in the sand
Hand on the door
I've been here so often before
In twilight's last gleaming
So smoky and gold
Endless horizons
Glister and glow
I see you in strangers
In light on the sea
In twilight's last gleaming we'll meet
In twilight's last gleaming
At this time of year
Wherever you go to
Whoever you're near
Think of these times
Remember these dreams
