Designed for an urban environment, this Niu GTS-Pro is not built for high speeds or long ranges, but it has enough of both to make it the perfect electric solution for commuting and last mile deliveries. It has two batteries, both of which can be removed to be charged anywhere making charging easy but not the fastest. It comes with an app and some cool tech which allows users to see how the scooter performs as well as locate it and turn it on remotely.
It might not be the fastest two-wheeled electric vehicle, or have the biggest range, but it's comfortable, enjoyable to ride, nippy and lets face it, it looks pretty cool!

Niue

Designed for an urban environment, this Niu GTS-Pro is not built for high speeds or long ranges, but it has enough of both to make it the perfect electric solution for commuting and last mile deliveries. It has two batteries, both of which can be removed to be charged anywhere making charging easy but not the fastest. It comes with an app and some cool tech which allows users to see how the scooter performs as well as locate it and turn it on remotely.
It might not be the fastest two-wheeled electric vehicle, or have the biggest range, but it's comfortable, enjoyable to ride, nippy and lets face it, it looks pretty cool!

We visited this remote island in the South Pacific in 2012 on the (then) once weekly fligth from Auckland. Niue is not your typical South Pacific Island with snowy white sand and swaying palm trees! But what they lack in terms of beaches the reason why you should come here, is the people of the island! Incredible hospitable and we felt that the entire island met us at the airport on arrival. Immediately invited to chair in local traditions (as the weekly sundowner on the beach bar) to local festivities. And on top of the people iot is the incredible diving that are offered on Niue. This is a very special place in the South Pacific scheme of things! The video was given to us by the Niue Tourism Office.

Niue High School Athletic Sports Highlights 2021. Part 1 of 2.
Everyone who lived on Niue and goes to secondary school here would always have some ties to their House Team at Niue High School as it is the only secondary school on the Island. Every year teams Pua, Kieto, Moea and Lagakali will battle it out for the Athletics Championship. The teams are named after some local trees growing on the IsIand. Kieto used to be Fou and Moea used to be Pine.

The main takai day on Niue mainly falls on the second Saturday of January every year. This is when villages or groups would do up their rides and travel around the whole Island celebrating. The whole week leading up to this Saturday is actually the takai week where villages and groups can go on their takai. Some groups also cycle or walk around the Island during this time. (About 60km total distance.) The hype and vibe on this day, collectively, is the biggest in relation to any other celebration that we have here. Niueans normally always cook their pigs this way in an umu or an earth oven. The size of the pigs or the earth oven can determine how many pigs you can fit in one go. Heading towards the festive season, many parties are happening on the Island. Baked or roast pigs are mostly always on the menu. We are blessed, Niue is Covid-19 free so we are still carrying on with life and parties as usual. Taro is a staple food here on Niue Island. Most locals grow their own. It is part of our culture and tradition as a Niue person to do this. The knowledge is passed on from generation to generation within families. The old school refer to our bushwork of taro farming in our bush gardens the Local Office! The dreams of parents back in the days are for their children to work in actual government office jobs or the likes of it. Those who were not so lucky will have to make do with working in their bush gardens as job opportunities were pretty scarce back then. As there are no political parties, there is no formal parliamentary Opposition, though there are MPs who oppose the government.
7. Because Niue is a raised coral atoll, it has a geography and coastline like no other Pacific Island. Its landscape will take your breath away, with surprises around every corner. The cave systems are among the most spectacular and extensive in the South Pacific. Above and below water.

We visited this remote island in the South Pacific in 2012 on the (then) once weekly fligth from Auckland. Niue is not your typical South Pacific Island with snowy white sand and swaying palm trees! But what they lack in terms of beaches the reason why you should come here, is the people of the island! Incredible hospitable and we felt that the entire island met us at the airport on arrival. Immediately invited to chair in local traditions (as the weekly sundowner on the beach bar) to local festivities. And on top of the people iot is the incredible diving that are offered on Niue. This is a very special place in the South Pacific scheme of things! The video was given to us by the Niue Tourism Office.

The whole week leading up to this Saturday is actually the takai week where villages and groups can go on their takai. Some groups also cycle or walk around the Island during this time. (About 60km total distance.)
The hype and vibe on this day, collectively, is the biggest in relation to any other celebration that we have here. Bigger than our self governing celebrations in October also, in my opinion.

Heading towards the festive season, many parties are happening on the Island. Baked or roast pigs are mostly always on the menu.
We are blessed, Niue is Covid-19 free so we are still carrying on with life and parties as usual.
This is our men's group in our church branch cooking the pigs and taros in 2 separate earth ovens (umu) for our Branch's Christmas party 2021.
If you are raised in Niue or spend some time of your life here then for surely you would have experienced this.
We grew up doing this so it becomes second nature as we get older and passing on the knowledge and know how to the younger lot.
Changes and improvements were also made along the way!

The knowledge is passed on from generation to generation within families.
The old school refer to our bushwork of taro farming in our bush gardens the Local Office!
The dreams of parents back in the days are for their children to work in actual government office jobs or the likes of it.
Those who were not so lucky will have to make do with working in their bush gardens as job opportunities were pretty scarce back then.
A well known local song taught and sung in one of the Primary schools refers to working the land as our local office, hence came the calling of our bush gardens or plantations the "Office".

1. Niue, whose capital is the village of Alofi, is a self-governing state in free association with New Zealand; and New Zealand conducts most diplomatic relations on its behalf. Niueans are citizens of New Zealand, and Queen Elizabeth II is head of state in her capacity as Queen of New Zealand. Between 90–95% of Niuean people live in New Zealand.
2. Its land area is 260 square kilometres (100 sq mi) and its population, predominantly Polynesian, was around 1,190. The island is commonly referred to as "The Rock".
3. Alofi is the capital of the Pacific Ocean island nation of Niue, which is located within the Realm of New Zealand. With a population of less than 1,000 (census of 2014), Alofi has the distinction of being the second smallest national capital city in terms of population (after Ngerulmud, capital of Palau).
4. The first Europeans to sight Niue sailed under Captain James Cook in 1774. Cook made three attempts to land, but the inhabitants refused to grant permission to do so. He named the island "Savage Island" because, as legend has it, the natives who "greeted" him were painted in what appeared to be blood. The substance on their teeth was hulahula, a native red banana. For the next couple of centuries, Niue was known as Savage Island until its original name, Niuē, which translates as "behold the coconut", regained use.
5. In 1889 Niueans wrote a letter to Queen Victoria, asking to be part of the British Empire. It was only in 1901 that the island was brought within the boundaries of New Zealand. In 1974 New Zealand restored self-government, after a referendum in which most people opted for it.
6. In Niue, political parties have never played an important role. There is, at present, no political party, and candidates to elections therefore run as independents. The only party ever to have existed, the Niue People's Party, disbanded in 2003. As there are no political parties, there is no formal parliamentary Opposition, though there are MPs who oppose the government.
7. Because Niue is a raised coral atoll, it has a geography and coastline like no other Pacific Island. Its landscape will take your breath away, with surprises around every corner. The cave systems are among the most spectacular and extensive in the South Pacific. Above and below water.

We visited this remote island in the South Pacific in 2012 on the (then) once weekly fligth from Auckland. Niue is not your typical South Pacific Island with snowy white sand and swaying palm trees! But what they lack in terms of beaches the reason why you should come here, is the people of the island! Incredible hospitable and we felt that the entire island met us at the airport on arrival. Immediately invited to chair in local traditions (as the weekly sundowner on the beach bar) to local festivities. And on top of the people iot is the incredible diving that are offered on Niue. This is a very special place in the South Pacific scheme of things! The video was given to us by the Niue Tourism Office.

The main takai day on Niue mainly falls on the second Saturday of January every year.
This is when villages or groups would do up their rides and travel around the whole Island celebrating.
The whole week leading up to this Saturday is actually the takai week where villages and groups can go on their takai. Some groups also cycle or walk around the Island during this time. (About 60km total distance.)
The hype and vibe on this day, collectively, is the biggest in relation to any other celebration that we have here. Bigger than our self governing celebrations in October also, in my opinion.

Niueans normally always cook their pigs this way in an umu or an earth oven. The size of the pigs or the earth oven can determine how many pigs you can fit in one go.
Heading towards the festive season, many parties are happening on the Island. Baked or roast pigs are mostly always on the menu.
We are blessed, Niue is Covid-19 free so we are still carrying on with life and parties as usual.
This is our men's group in our church branch cooking the pigs and taros in 2 separate earth ovens (umu) for our Branch's Christmas party 2021.
If you are raised in Niue or spend some time of your life here then for surely you would have experienced this.
We grew up doing this so it becomes second nature as we get older and passing on the knowledge and know how to the younger lot.
Changes and improvements were also made along the way!

Taro is a staple food here on Niue Island. Most locals grow their own. It is part of our culture and tradition as a Niue person to do this.
The knowledge is passed on from generation to generation within families.
The old school refer to our bushwork of taro farming in our bush gardens the Local Office!
The dreams of parents back in the days are for their children to work in actual government office jobs or the likes of it.
Those who were not so lucky will have to make do with working in their bush gardens as job opportunities were pretty scarce back then.
A well known local song taught and sung in one of the Primary schools refers to working the land as our local office, hence came the calling of our bush gardens or plantations the "Office".
