VICTIM PARTY - Getting To Know The… LP
Just submitted this, and it’ll turn a lot of heads. Not the usual Ugly Pop fare, but a current Toronto band doing extremely strong, perfectly-executed melodic punk reminiscent of early Dillinger Four, Leatherface and the like (not NOFX-style foodcourt skatepunk, lest that need be emphasised). Only 500 to be pressed, but an essential grip– I’m very stoked about this one.

X - Spurts LP (UP053)
X - Aspirations LP (UP054)
Absolutely top notch first-wave Australian punk; first time ever on vinyl for the essential 1977 demo (Spurts); the 1979 debut (Aspirations) back in print again.
Out in a week!

PF COMMANDO - Manipulerade Mongon LP
Self-released in 1979 by one of Sweden’s most notorious bands, this monster debut was the first Swedish punk LP, packing in 15 tracks of pure three-chord bash at its most primal and aggressive. Vocals are alternately barked and snarled, guitars slash and buzz, the rhythm section thrashes along maniacally in the vein of The Germs, The Viletones and early Black Flag– no pop, no art, just PUNK!
Ugly Pop is very pleased to be making this hard-to-find slab available again in its first legitimate vinyl pressing since 1979.
Super stoked at how beautifully this pure punk rock monster came out.
Jackets are now in house and vinyl is expected soon, so I’m opening up pre-orders before the vinyl arrives in a couple weeks.

X - Aspirations LP (UP054)
This Sydney band’s 1979 debut is one of the all-time great Australian records, a devastatingly tough yet diverse album featuring 14 tracks of superb punk rock seething with urgency and barely-restrained desperation. This antipodean classic has fallen out of print again in recent years but should always be available, so Ugly Pop is pleased to announce that we’ll be reissuing it this summer with new insert and unseen photos.

X - X-Spurts LP (UP055)
Before their legendary debut LP, X recorded a 1977 demo session that remains a brilliant ten-track snapshot of the period, and a treasure for anyone with an interest in world-wide first wave punk. 37 years on, Ugly Pop presents the first ever vinyl appearance of this seminal document.

I spent some time this morning at Greg Dick’s, listening to the Kimona Nails studio session from April ‘83. Members of Dream Dates, Forgotten Rebels, Direct Action and BFG doing excellent hard glammy punk rock in the style of Heartbreakers, Dolls, Joneses and early Teenage Head, with no wussy ballad/hair band damage. Hard to believe something this great has been sitting unheard in a box for over three decades, but I promise that anyone who likes loud, raw guitars will be all over this.

It’s a 27 minute session with zero duds, so mini LP, not a 45. First song is a completely ripping version of Dream Dates hit “Heart Attack Rhythm”, just as raw but just a little faster and burlier. Expect late spring release for this LP!
