Ordinary People is a 1980 American drama film that marked the directorial debut of actor Robert Redford. It stars Donald Sutherland, Mary Tyler Moore, Judd Hirsch and Timothy Hutton.
The story concerns the disintegration of an upper-middle class family in Lake Forest, Illinois, following the death of one of their sons in a boating accident. The screenplay by Alvin Sargent was based upon the 1976 novel Ordinary People by Judith Guest.
The film received six Academy Award nominations and won four: the Academy Award for Best Picture, the Best Director for Redford, the Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay) for Sargent, and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for Hutton. In addition, it won five Golden Globes: Best Motion Picture – Drama, Golden Globe Award for Best Director (Redford), Best Actress in a Drama (Tyler Moore), Best Supporting Actor (Hutton), and Best Screenplay (Sargent).
The Jarretts are an upper-middle-class family in suburban Chicago trying to return to normal life after the death of one teenage son and the attempted suicide of their surviving son, Conrad (Timothy Hutton). Conrad has recently returned home from a four-month stay in a psychiatric hospital. He feels alienated from his friends and family and begins seeing a psychiatrist, Dr. Berger (Judd Hirsch). Berger learns that Conrad was involved in a sailing accident in which his older brother, Buck, whom everyone idolized, died. Conrad now deals with post-traumatic stress disorder and survivor's guilt.
Steven Paul "Steve" Jobs (/ˈdʒɒbz/; February 24, 1955 – October 5, 2011) was an American information technology entrepreneur and inventor. He was the co-founder, chairman, and chief executive officer (CEO) of Apple Inc.; CEO and largest shareholder of Pixar Animation Studios; a member of The Walt Disney Company's board of directors following its acquisition of Pixar; and founder, chairman, and CEO of NeXT Inc. Jobs is widely recognized as a pioneer of the microcomputer revolution of the 1970s, along with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. Shortly after his death, Jobs's official biographer, Walter Isaacson, described him as the "creative entrepreneur whose passion for perfection and ferocious drive revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing, and digital publishing."
Adopted at birth in San Francisco, and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area during the 1960s, Jobs's countercultural lifestyle was a product of his time. As a senior at Homestead High School in Cupertino, California, his two closest friends were the older engineering student (and Homestead High alumnus) Wozniak and his countercultural girlfriend, the artistically inclined Homestead High junior Chrisann Brennan. Jobs briefly attended Reed College in 1972 before dropping out, deciding to travel through India in 1974 and study Buddhism.

A short experimental film produced as part of my assessment for Queensland TAFE. Filmed in and around Brisbane City and Rainbow Beach. My friend Matthew and I filmed the vast majority of this together; this is just as much his video as it is mine. I also have him to thank for the wonderful drone footage. After watching Nerdwriter1's video detailing Ghost in the Shell's exploration of Identity in Space and discovering electronica artist Lorn's music, I was inspired to make something similar, something that is more about aspects of ordinary life in a place than it is about a story, a goal, or time pressing forward. And although this is being used as a submission for an assignment, I think I ultimately made it more for myself, and I'm very proud of it.

I shot this video just for fun. It's so easy to get sucked into the vortex of only doing paid jobs and not being creative for creativity sake. My job is fun, I love making films that touch a heart, change a life and hopefully reach the world in whatever capacity I might be striving to do so in, for that particular film. But it still can become a job. Work and job are two different words to me. Sure, what I do is tough work at times, but it doesn't have to be a job. A great photographer named Chase Jarvis expressed how important it was for we as artists to schedule in our personal creative projects. And so this was my result of one of those projects, and I had a blast doing it! "At Crossfit Franco's we are ordinary people, doing extraordinary things." -Chris Perez, Crossfit Coach

The Unknown - Behind every rescue is a volunteer. This is a short film about a group of people who venture out into the unknown to save lives at sea. This is for and about the men and women of the RNLI. Unknown menace can lurk beneath. When you see the sea as a beautiful rippling blanket of sunrise – a flat sea, still as a pond sparkling with dawn, then you don’t really see the sea at all. You miss its missing dormant strength, its powers untapped, it’s muscles unflexed, dozing, dreaming and caressing the shore. A elemental force that can place disaster round every corner. But some few are always preparing for when that menace will surface. Constant planning and checking that they will be ready when needed. So the sea – worked on; played on; and travelled over- is a place where we can...

VIETNAM veterans, described as ''the forgotten warriors of a war America does not want to remember,'' were the subjects of an exceptionally insightful and poignant documentary on CBS-TV back in 1981. ''Bittersweet Memories: A Vietnam Reunion'' represented an unusual venture for television. It was produced in cooperation with Newsweek magazine, which featured a cover story on the soldiers of Charlie Company, who saw combat in Vietnam in the 1960's. Of the 80 men interviewed for the story, 30 were brought, along with some of their wives, by CBS News to a threeday gathering in Florida. The idea for the reunion was devised by Howard Stringer, who produced the program with Andrew Lack and Bill Willson. The veterans are seen talking among themselves and being interviewed separately. Capitalism: A Love Story examines the impact of corporate dominance on the everyday lives of Americans (and by default, the rest of the world). The film moves from Middle America, to the halls of power in Washington, to the global financial epicenter in Manhattan. With both humor and outrage, the film explores the question: What is the price that America pays for its love of capitalism? Families pay the price with their jobs, their homes and their savings. Moore goes into the homes of ordinary people whose lives have been turned upside down; and he goes looking for explanations in Washington, DC and elsewhere. What he finds are the all-too-familiar symptoms of a love affair gone astray: lies, abuse, betrayal...and 14,000 jobs being lost every day. Capitalism: A Love Story also presents wha...

(Swing Out Sister)
What you see may only be skin deep
But what you feel inside is there for keeps
Can't know happiness 'till you've been sad
But tears drown all the joy you ever had
Talkin' about people
Who spreads wanton hurt?
Talkin' about people
Still waiting for their turn
Talkin' about people
Living in uncertainty
Ordinary people
People like you and me
Seen your life before you slip away
Hanging on to every Irish day
Can't keep up the face
But can't slow down
Life's a rat race there's no short way around
Talkin' about people
Who didn't make the grade?
Talkin' about people
Who's just another paid?
Talkin about people
Holdin' on for dignity
Ordinary people
People like you and me
You may have nothing else but you've got pride
You have nothing else but you've got pride
Until there's nothing to sacrifice
We'll survive
We'll survive
Talkin' about people
Talkin' about people
Existing from day to day
Talkin' about people
Who lost their way?
Talkin' about people
Living by destiny
Ordinary people
Like you and me
When hunger bites you deep down inside
You may have nothing else but you've got pride
And when there's nowhere to run or hide
You'll find there's no short cut and there's no
Rewrite
Until there's nothing to sacrifice
We'll survive
Never give up till it's gone
Together we'll be strong
We'll survive
(Spoken)
In this we breathe the same air
We cherish our children
Never give up until it's gone
