For the field of computer hardware, given the fact that our audience is extremely technology savvy, we need writers with an extensive knowledge of hardware and the ability to judge hardware for its pros and cons, without depending on fanboy rhetoric. It is extremely important for you to understand that you will not be covering general news items, but will be commenting on real hardware technology trends, making comparisons and drawing your own conclusions. You will need to know what you are talking about.
Gadgets, Mobile Tech and Wearables
For writers interested in applying for gadgets, wearables and mobile technology niches, please note that we will differentiate between mobile hardware and software niches. For mobile and gadget hardware niche, we need writers with an understanding of the industry, the future of mobile/gadget hardware specially in terms of CPU, GPU, SoC innovations and hardware specific, software innovations such as Metal.
For mobile software niche, we need people with an understanding of iOS, Android and Windows Phone. You should be able to report on newest Android ROM releases, iOS updates, jailbreaks, tweaks and hacks involving widely used mobile operating systems.
Gaming
Please note, that a slight preference will be given to native English speakers, with prior experience of writing for other relevant journals or blogs. If you have experience at writing well researched, long-form articles, it’s all the better.
For writers interested in applying for covering gaming related topics, gaming technology niche, please note that we need people with an understanding of the industry, gaming titles, who are able to come up with original content and not just cover latest news.
General Technology News and Trends
For general technology reporting, we are looking people who can pen op-eds and explain general science and technology trends. These articles will need to be very well-researched and coherent, so any earlier experience in the field will be deemed important. These articles can include the latest from Snowden leaks, hackers getting hold of consumer financial data, TOR getting probed for vulnerabilities by researchers, new Windows OS, Yosemite and the future of Mac OS.
