Buddy Clark (July 26, 1912 - October 1, 1949) was a popular American singer in the 1930s and 1940s.
Clark was born Samuel Goldberg to Jewish parents in Dorchester, Massachusetts. He made his Big Band singing debut in 1932 as a tenor, with Gus Arnheim's orchestra, but was not successful. Singing baritone, he gained wider notice in 1934, with Benny Goodman on the Let's Dance radio program. In 1936 he began performing on the show, Your Hit Parade, and remained until 1938. In the mid-1930s he signed with Vocalion Records, having a top-20 hit with "Spring Is Here". He did not have another hit until the late 1940s, but continued recording, appearing in movies, and dubbing other actors' voices.
In 1946 he signed with Columbia Records and scored his biggest hit with the song "Linda" recorded in November of that year, but hitting its peak in the following spring. "Linda" was written especially for the six-year-old daughter of a show business lawyer named Lee Eastman, whose client, songwriter Jack Lawrence, wrote the song at Lee’s request. Upon reaching adulthood, Linda became famous as a photographer, a musician (as a member of Wings, the 1970s band headed by her husband, former Beatle Paul McCartney), and a prominent spokeswoman for animal rights.
Clark is an English language surname, ultimately derived from the Latin clericus meaning "scribe", "secretary" or a scholar within a religious order, referring to someone who was educated. Clark evolved from "clerk". First records of the name are found in 12th century England. The name has many variants.
Clark is the twenty-seventh most common surname in the United Kingdom, including placing fourteenth in Scotland. Clark is also an occasional given name, as in the case of Clark Gable.
According to the 1990 United States Census, Clark was the twenty-first most frequently encountered surname, accounting for 0.23% of the population. Notable people with the surname include:
Buddy may refer to:
Tyler A. Clark is an American politician from Maine. A Republican, Clark has served in the Maine House of Representatives since 2008. He ran unsuccessfully in 2006. He earned a B.A. from the University of Maine at Presque Isle in 2008. During his third term in the Legislature, Clark was a member of the influential Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee.
Citing the low pay for state legislators, Clark announced in July 2014 that he would not seek a 4th term in the Maine House.
"Peg o' My Heart" is a popular song written by Alfred Bryan and Fred Fisher. It was published on March 15, 1913 and it featured in the 1913 musical Ziegfeld Follies.
The song was first performed publicly by Irving Kaufman in 1912 at The College Inn in New York City after he had stumbled across a draft of sheet music on a shelf at the Leo Feist offices.
The song was inspired by the main character in the very successful musical comedy of the time Peg O’ My Heart starring Laurette Taylor in the title role. Taylor appeared on the cover of early published sheet music.
The song, performed by Max Harris and his Novelty Trio (based on a version by The Harmonicats), was used as the theme of the BBC miniseries The Singing Detective (1986). When recording engineer Bill Putnam recorded The Harmonicats version of the song, he became the first person to use artificial reverberation creatively on a pop recording, with the use of the first reverb chamber, which had been set up in the studio's bathroom.

But there are problems in his world, where a talent for the piano has been reduced to playing Chopin on a piano that has had the strings cut by his mother out of frustration at his incessant practicing... the same mother who now requires him to be there to administer her insulin shots. Still, because he is a 'good boy', he plays on the soundless piano, and takes weekly lessons from a piano teacher so eccentric that she will only allow him to strum out the notes on her dining room table... until, like real planets when other bodies get too close, he finds himself pulled and moved in a different direction.

Scott Clark,Clark, 65, was one of two people killed Thursday when a small plane they were flying crashed near a Crystal Lake intersection, east of the Lake in the Hills Airport. The Beechcraft S35 Bonanza’s owner, 82-year-old Paul Sanfilippo of Round Lake Park, also died. Scott was a flying buddy of mine someone who just loved flying not only for a living but also totally enjoyed flying just for fun.Other pilots understand what a gift it is to be able to fly and like the rest of us he was happy the minute he left the ground no matter what aircraft it was in but Powered Paragliding was at the top of the list. This is a shocking tragedy to die with many years of life ahead of him. I guess if you enjoy life along the way and die doing something you love makes it a little better.

This year at the Hunter Ice Festival in Niles, Michigan I came across Buddy Rasmussen and Reverend Butter -- two master ice carvers from Texas who have taken ice carving to a new level with Buddy's, "Ice Fights" -- an adrenalin-pumping competition where chain saws are wielded at blocks of ice with lightening fast accuracy. The crowd of four-hundred onlookers cheered on Buddy and Reverend Butter and their two competitors, Andrew Thistlethwaite, executive chef/co-owner of the Riverfront Cafe in Niles, Michigan and Danny Bloss II, is a cook at the University of Notre Dame. My Grandpa Buddy is a legend. He played piano for some major bands in the earliest days of broadcast radio, ON (not off) Broadway and on "Duffy's Tavern" a national radio variety show. Served in the army and toured with their big band... in the 1940's. Turned down an offer to play with the Glen Miller Band in favor of a settled life without the hassles of touring all the time... which is lucky for us! He met my grandmother many years later and they have been happily married since the early 1980's. Grandpa's style bemused me when I was young, and thought to play properly you have to stick to the notes on the sheet-music... and at that time (stupid me) thought that everything improvised was a mistake. Stupid yoof! Before there was jazz, there was "big band" and swing whose cheeky nature...

Vocalist Buddy Clark (1912-1949) has to be one of the most tragic people in music history. His airplane crashed on October 1, 1949, and he was the only one on board who perished. His great recordings live on like this one from January of 1940.

Full video of Dr. Buddy Clark and Master Hitting Instructor Dan Koosed's presentation "How Technology Unlocked My True Potential At The Plate" at the 2017 American Baseball Coaches Association Convention. During the presentation, Dr. Clark and Mr. Koosed discuss the importance of how the right combination of exit velocity and approach angle can maximize your potential output. Moreover, the duo discusses how technology - including Diamond Kinetics' SwingTracker and inMotion Systems' HitTrax - can help measure and quantify these metrics for players and coaches. Finally, they look at individual case studies of youth, high school, college and professional players and show scientific evidence of how the players numbers improved with the appropriate mindset and swing cues.

Most of the footage was shot on a Canon 7D with an EF 35MM F/1.4L USM and a few shots with a EF 135MM f/2.0 L USM. Special thanks to Scottie Infalt for assisting as a 2nd shooter. The music for the trailer was recorded ...
On a recent road trip through Glacier, Lewis & Clark, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Uinta I was lucky enough to experience the first snow of the season this year. Here is a small collection of clips I shot on my BMPC (BlackMagic Production Camera) 4K with my Canon 70-200mm/2.8 and 16-35mm/2.8. Edited in FCPX, colored in DaVinci Resolve 11. My buddy James Cotton Hartman wrote some original music and sent it to me while I was on the road so I could get a feel for the mood. Peg o' my heart, I love you
We'll never part for I love you
Dear little girl, sweet little girl
Sweeter than the Rose of Erin
It's the shamrock we'll be sharing
Peg o' my heart, your glances
My Irish heart entrances
Come be my own
Come make your home
In my heart
