The Kenyan government on Saturday June 8, 2017; announced the death of its Interior Minister, Rtd. General Joseph Nkaissery.
The 67-year-old died in a Nairobi medical facility, Karen Hospital, few hours after he was admitted for an undisclosed ailment.

The Danish Minister for the Interior and Health, Bertel Haarder, has never had health insurance.
“It’s simply not necessary,” he told a full Joukowsky Forum this week. “Health care in Denmark is free and all citizens are covered.”
During the talk titled “Health Care: Perspectives on Priorities in Denmark and the European Union,” Haarder compared various systems in terms of coverage, quality, and cost.
In Denmark, health is privileged – the government subsidizes two-thirds of annual spending on drugs, for instance – as part of the national ethos of equality, Haarder said. The system is financed through taxes and costs a little more than half the cost per capita than in the United States.
The Scandinavian country, he also pointed out, was rated the world’s happiest country by a Gallup World Poll in 2010.
But Haarder, who is ideologically positioned as center-right, also outlined some of the challenges in the health system. Because of the Danish focus on equality, the development of leading hospitals and medical innovations is difficult, he said. “There is a huge pressure on the health care system, the expectations are rising all the time,” the minister added. “You could call it the tyranny of equality. The worst thing you could do in Danish politics is diverge from that principle of equality.”
A growing elderly population, excessive drinking and smoking, and a dwindling number of general practitioners are the chief concerns in the Nordic country. But its health sector is growing in productivity by two percent annually and is the only sector with increased expenditure, he added.
Like Denmark, all European countries have universal health coverage, though the models vary. Haarder separated the Scandinavian tax-based model from the German model that combines compulsory private insurance with state-financed options for the elderly and the poor. “All systems have their advantages and shortcomings,” the minister said.
European Union member states remain responsible for their national health plans, he said. But the bloc approves pharmaceuticals sold within the internal market as a whole, for instance. And as of next year, patients will be able to use prescriptions in drug stores across the EU.
Health care provision is also progressing in the ex-Soviet states that have recently joined the EU, said Romano Prodi, the former prime minister of Italy and Brown professor at large, who attended the talk.
“Health care is the right of every European citizen,” Prodi said during the question and answer session. “It’s a very peculiar difference between the United States and Europe.”
While Haarder agreed that transatlantic views on health care diverge significantly, he said the major predicaments – the aging of the baby boomers and a growth in medical possibilities – are shared.
But skyrocketing costs and overtreatment are the principal ills in the American model, he added. And once expenditures have swelled, he added, shrinking them back is tricky. “There is no necessary link between cost and quality,” the minister said. “That of course should make it possible to reduce costs without reducing quality, but I have to see it before I believe it.”
While lamenting the money spent on insurance, lawsuits, and treatment in the United States, Haarder said the model’s competitiveness has benefits. European nations envy the prime American hospitals that often attract the best doctors, he added.
As a European, Haarder said he found it puzzling that the American health care reform did not overhaul the system more fundamentally.
“Health is at the top of the political agenda in the United States and that is also the case in Denmark. But we certainly have different points of departure,” Haarder said. “Is it possible to combine the two systems? Yes, it should be possible.”

An interior ministry (sometimes ministry of internal affairs or ministry of home affairs) is a government ministry typically responsible for policing, emergency management, national security, supervision of local governments, conduct of elections, public administration and immigration matters. The ministry is often headed by a minister of the interior or a minister of home affairs. In some countries, matters relating to the maintenance of law and order and the administration of justice are the responsibility of a separate justice ministry.
In some countries, policing and national security belong to a separate ministry (often titled "ministry of public order", "ministry of security" etc.), with the interior ministry being limited to control over local governments, public administration, elections etc. Notable examples include Greece (ministry of citizen protection) and Israel (ministry of public security).

Death of Khaled Mohamed Saeed
Khaled Mohamed Saeed (Arabic: خالد محمد سعيد IPA: [ˈxæːled mæˈħæmmæd sæˈʕiːd]; 27 January 1982 – 6 June 2010) was a young Egyptian man whose death under police custody in the Sidi Gaber area of Alexandria on 6 June 2010 helped incite the Egyptian Revolution of 2011. Photos of his disfigured corpse spread throughout online communities and incited outrage over allegations that he was beaten to death by Egyptian security forces. A prominent Facebook group, "We are all Khaled Said", moderated by Wael Ghonim, brought attention to his death and contributed to growing discontent in the weeks leading up to the Egyptian Revolution of 2011. In October 2011, two Egyptian police officers were found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to seven years in prison for beating Saeed to death. They were granted a retrial and sentenced to ten years in prison on 3 March 2014.
Personal life
Saeed was raised by his mother and the rest of his extended family after the death of his father when he was young. Showing an interest in computers, he stayed for some time and studied computer programming in the United States. He also loved music and had been composing a musical piece before his death.

Ahsan Iqbal
Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhary (Urdu: احسن اقبال چودھری; b 28 September 1958), known as Ahsan Iqbal, is a Pakistani politician who serves as the Minister of Planning, National Reforms, and Development since June 2013. He also serves as the Member of Parliament of Pakistan representing the mainly rural district of Narowal. He is a prominent leader of Pakistan Muslim League and serves as it's Deputy Secretary General and member of it's Central Executive Committee.
After graduating from the Wharton School, he worked as the general manager of the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab. He went on to serve as a special assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Policy and Public Affairs between 1990 and 1993 and was elected for the first time from constituency NA-117 (Narowal-III) to the National Assembly in the 1993 elections and later re-elected from the same constituency in 1997. He served as the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission between 1997 till the 1999 Pakistani coup d'état.

Plot: On June 12, 1964, Nelson Mandela, along with a number of political detainees, was sentenced to life imprisonment in what remains the most sensational treason trial in the history of South Africa. The incarceration of Mandela and other political prisoners on Robben Island would become a symbol of the struggle to end apartheid and win freedom for the black majority in South Africa. On February 2, 1990, President F.W. De Klerk stood before Parliament and announced the legalization of the African National Congress and a host of other banned political organizations. At the same time, he announced that Nelson Mandela, having served 27 years in prison, would be released within 7 days. Yet the world, and indeed most South Africans, knew little about how this momentous occasion came to pass. Until now. Mandela & De Klerk was filmed in South Africa. The Danish Minister for the Interior and Health, Bertel Haarder, has never had health insurance.
“It’s simply not necessary,” he told a full Joukowsky Forum this week. “Health care in Denmark is free and all citizens are covered.”
During the talk titled “Health Care: Perspectives on Priorities in Denmark and the European Union,” Haarder compared various systems in terms of coverage, quality, and cost.
In Denmark, health is privileged – the government subsidizes two-thirds of annual spending on drugs, for instance – as part of the national ethos of equality, Haarder said. The system is financed through taxes and costs a little more than half the cost per capita than in the United States.
The Scandinavian country, he also pointed out, was rated the world’s happiest country by a Gallup World Poll in 2010.
But Haarder, who is ideologically positioned as center-right, also outlined some of the challenges in the health system. Because of the Danish focus on equality, the development of leading hospitals and medical innovations is difficult, he said. “There is a huge pressure on the health care system, the expectations are rising all the time,” the minister added. “You could call it the tyranny of equality. The worst thing you could do in Danish politics is diverge from that principle of equality.”
A growing elderly population, excessive drinking and smoking, and a dwindling number of general practitioners are the chief concerns in the Nordic country. But its health sector is growing in productivity by two percent annually and is the only sector with increased expenditure, he added.
Like Denmark, all European countries have universal health coverage, though the models vary. Haarder separated the Scandinavian tax-based model from the German model that combines compulsory private insurance with state-financed options for the elderly and the poor. “All systems have their advantages and shortcomings,” the minister said.
European Union member states remain responsible for their national health plans, he said. But the bloc approves pharmaceuticals sold within the internal market as a whole, for instance. And as of next year, patients will be able to use prescriptions in drug stores across the EU.
Health care provision is also progressing in the ex-Soviet states that have recently joined the EU, said Romano Prodi, the former prime minister of Italy and Brown professor at large, who attended the talk.
“Health care is the right of every European citizen,” Prodi said during the question and answer session. “It’s a very peculiar difference between the United States and Europe.”
While Haarder agreed that transatlantic views on health care diverge significantly, he said the major predicaments – the aging of the baby boomers and a growth in medical possibilities – are shared.
But skyrocketing costs and overtreatment are the principal ills in the American model, he added. And once expenditures have swelled, he added, shrinking them back is tricky. “There is no necessary link between cost and quality,” the minister said. “That of course should make it possible to reduce costs without reducing quality, but I have to see it before I believe it.”
While lamenting the money spent on insurance, lawsuits, and treatment in the United States, Haarder said the model’s competitiveness has benefits. European nations envy the prime American hospitals that often attract the best doctors, he added.
As a European, Haarder said he found it puzzling that the American health care reform did not overhaul the system more fundamentally.
“Health is at the top of the political agenda in the United States and that is also the case in Denmark. But we certainly have different points of departure,” Haarder said. “Is it possible to combine the two systems? Yes, it should be possible.”
His talk was co-sponsored by the Danish Institute for Study Abroad, Brown University’s Global Health Initiative, the Office of International Programs, the Program in Liberal Medical Education and the Watson Institute for International Studies.

The Danish Minister for the Interior and Health, Bertel Haarder, has never had health insurance.
“It’s simply not necessary,” he told a full Joukowsky Forum this week. “Health care in Denmark is free and all citizens are covered.”
During the talk titled “Health Care: Perspectives on Priorities in Denmark and the European Union,” Haarder compared various systems in terms of coverage, quality, and cost.
In Denmark, health is privileged – the government subsidizes two-thirds of annual spending on drugs, for instance – as part of the national ethos of equality, Haarder said. The system is financed through taxes and costs a little more than half the cost per capita than in the United States.
The Scandinavian country, he also pointed out, was rated the world’s happiest country by a Gallup World Poll in 2010.
But Haarder, who is ideologically positioned as center-right, also outlined some of the challenges in the health system. Because of the Danish focus on equality, the development of leading hospitals and medical innovations is difficult, he said. “There is a huge pressure on the health care system, the expectations are rising all the time,” the minister added. “You could call it the tyranny of equality. The worst thing you could do in Danish politics is diverge from that principle of equality.”
A growing elderly population, excessive drinking and smoking, and a dwindling number of general practitioners are the chief concerns in the Nordic country. But its health sector is growing in productivity by two percent annually and is the only sector with increased expenditure, he added.
Like Denmark, all European countries have universal health coverage, though the models vary. Haarder separated the Scandinavian tax-based model from the German model that combines compulsory private insurance with state-financed options for the elderly and the poor. “All systems have their advantages and shortcomings,” the minister said.
European Union member states remain responsible for their national health plans, he said. But the bloc approves pharmaceuticals sold within the internal market as a whole, for instance. And as of next year, patients will be able to use prescriptions in drug stores across the EU.
Health care provision is also progressing in the ex-Soviet states that have recently joined the EU, said Romano Prodi, the former prime minister of Italy and Brown professor at large, who attended the talk.
“Health care is the right of every European citizen,” Prodi said during the question and answer session. “It’s a very peculiar difference between the United States and Europe.”
While Haarder agreed that transatlantic views on health care diverge significantly, he said the major predicaments – the aging of the baby boomers and a growth in medical possibilities – are shared.
But skyrocketing costs and overtreatment are the principal ills in the American model, he added. And once expenditures have swelled, he added, shrinking them back is tricky. “There is no necessary link between cost and quality,” the minister said. “That of course should make it possible to reduce costs without reducing quality, but I have to see it before I believe it.”
While lamenting the money spent on insurance, lawsuits, and treatment in the United States, Haarder said the model’s competitiveness has benefits. European nations envy the prime American hospitals that often attract the best doctors, he added.
As a European, Haarder said he found it puzzling that the American health care reform did not overhaul the system more fundamentally.
“Health is at the top of the political agenda in the United States and that is also the case in Denmark. But we certainly have different points of departure,” Haarder said. “Is it possible to combine the two systems? Yes, it should be possible.”

The video is about a demonstration that took place a week later on the 16th of June 2010, near Khaled Saeed's house in Cleopatra district in Alexandria protesting against his murder.

Khaled Saeed was sitting in an internet cafe in near his house when the two wild detective cops (Mahmoud Al Fallah and Awad Abdel Zaher) ambushed that cafe asking people for their IDs which is totally out of their authority and without legal permission.
Khaled did reject that way of inhumane treatment and consequently was attacked so viciously , was kicked in his chest and belly severely, and his skull was smashed with the marble bar before all people and witnesses in the internet cafe while Khaled was bleeding. Then savage cops abducted Khaled and put him inside the police vehicle to continue torturing him to death in the police station. Finally, they threw his corpse in the street to claim that he was attacked by some strangers in order to avoid responsibility. The cops were released few hours later and some protesters were arrested.
Shocking pictures of Khaled Saeed's body, whose face is almost unrecognizable from the beating he received has been posted on the internet.

On June 12th, 2010 the department of media and public relations of the Egyptian ministry of interior issued a statement denying the content of the testimonies of eyewitnesses as well as reports by human rights organizations. The statement also claimed that Khaled Saeed was a "wanted criminal," with two convictions in absentia for theft and illegal possession of weapons, and that he had evaded his military service. It was claimed that Khaled had died of ASPHYXIATION after he swallowed a packet of drugs.
Khaled Saeed's death enraged many Egyptians, who went out on demonstrations protesting his brutal murder and demanding justice for Khaled and for his assassins to be judged - all the way up to the Minister of Interior, Habib El Adly. Khaled Saeed's murder was one of the reasons that started the January 25 revolution.

Lin Zexu (1785-1850) was the Chinese Commissioner in Canton whose actions precipitated the Opium Wars (1839-1842). Although opium was used in China for centuries, it was not until the opening of the tea trade to Dutch and British merchants that China was able to import large quantities of the drug. By the early nineteenth century opium was the principal product that the English East India Company traded in China and opium addiction was becoming a widespread social problem. When the emperor's own son died of an overdose, he decided to put an end to the trade. Lin Zexu was sent to Canton, the chief trading port of the East India Company, with instructions to negotiate an end to the importation of opium into China. The English merchants were uncooperative, so he seized their stores of opium. This led to immediate military action. The Chinese were decisively defeated and had to cede to a humiliating treaty that legalized the opium trade. As a result commissioner Lin was dismissed from office and sent into exile.
Lin Zexu's "Letter of Advice to Queen Victoria" was written before the outbreak of the Opium Wars. It was a remarkably frank document, especially given the usual highly stylized language of Chinese diplomacy. There remains some question whether Queen Victoria ever read the letter.

The Chinese Army, decimated by 10 years of rampant opium addiction, proved no match for the British Army. The war ended in 1839 with the signing of "The Treaty of Nanking." This included provisions especially designed to guarantee the right to enslave an entire population with opium. The "peace treaty" included these provisions: "1) full legalization of the opium trade in China, 2) compensation from the opium stockpiles confiscated by Lin of 2 million pounds, 3) territorial sovereignty for the British Crown over several designated offshore islands.
British Prime Minister Palmerston wrote Crown Commissioner Captain Charles Elliot that the treaty didn't go far enough. He said it should have been rejected out of hand because: "After all, our naval power is so strong that we can tell the Emperor what we mean to hold rather than what he would cede. We must demand the admission of opium into interior China as an article of lawful commerce and increase the indemnity payments and British access to several additional Chinese ports." Thus, China not only had to pay the cost of his dumped opium but reimburse England an unheard sum of 21 million pounds for the cost of the war!
Our media, being an arm of government, neglects to tell us why Hong Kong was handed back once the lease was up.

“It’s simply not necessary,” he told a full Joukowsky Forum this week. “Health care in Denmark is free and all citizens are covered.”
During the talk titled “Health Care: Perspectives on Priorities in Denmark and the European Union,” Haarder compared various systems in terms of coverage, quality, and cost.
In Denmark, health is privileged – the government subsidizes two-thirds of annual spending on drugs, for instance – as part of the national ethos of equality, Haarder said. The system is financed through taxes and costs a little more than half the cost per capita than in the United States.
The Scandinavian country, he also pointed out, was rated the world’s happiest country by a Gallup World Poll in 2010.
But Haarder, who is ideologically positioned as center-right, also outlined some of the challenges in the health system. Because of the Danish focus on equality, the development of leading hospitals and medical innovations is difficult, he said. “There is a huge pressure on the health care system, the expectations are rising all the time,” the minister added. “You could call it the tyranny of equality. The worst thing you could do in Danish politics is diverge from that principle of equality.”
A growing elderly population, excessive drinking and smoking, and a dwindling number of general practitioners are the chief concerns in the Nordic country. But its health sector is growing in productivity by two percent annually and is the only sector with increased expenditure, he added.
Like Denmark, all European countries have universal health coverage, though the models vary. Haarder separated the Scandinavian tax-based model from the German model that combines compulsory private insurance with state-financed options for the elderly and the poor. “All systems have their advantages and shortcomings,” the minister said.
European Union member states remain responsible for their national health plans, he said. But the bloc approves pharmaceuticals sold within the internal market as a whole, for instance. And as of next year, patients will be able to use prescriptions in drug stores across the EU.
Health care provision is also progressing in the ex-Soviet states that have recently joined the EU, said Romano Prodi, the former prime minister of Italy and Brown professor at large, who attended the talk.
“Health care is the right of every European citizen,” Prodi said during the question and answer session. “It’s a very peculiar difference between the United States and Europe.”
While Haarder agreed that transatlantic views on health care diverge significantly, he said the major predicaments – the aging of the baby boomers and a growth in medical possibilities – are shared.
But skyrocketing costs and overtreatment are the principal ills in the American model, he added. And once expenditures have swelled, he added, shrinking them back is tricky. “There is no necessary link between cost and quality,” the minister said. “That of course should make it possible to reduce costs without reducing quality, but I have to see it before I believe it.”
While lamenting the money spent on insurance, lawsuits, and treatment in the United States, Haarder said the model’s competitiveness has benefits. European nations envy the prime American hospitals that often attract the best doctors, he added.
As a European, Haarder said he found it puzzling that the American health care reform did not overhaul the system more fundamentally.
“Health is at the top of the political agenda in the United States and that is also the case in Denmark. But we certainly have different points of departure,” Haarder said. “Is it possible to combine the two systems? Yes, it should be possible.”

On the 7th June 2010, Khaled Saeed a 28-year-old Egyptian was allegedly tortured to death by two police officers in plain clothes after refusing to be searched under the emergency law while he was sitting in an internet cafe. The Egyptian government denied the content of the testimonies of eyewitnesses as well as reports by human rights organizations and claimed that Khaled Saeed was a "wanted criminal" who died of ASPHYXIATION after swallowing a packet of drugs. The video is about a demonstration that took place a week later on the 16th of June 2010, near Khaled Saeed's house in Cleopatra district in Alexandria protesting against his murder.

Khaled Saeed was sitting in an internet cafe in near his house when the two wild detective cops (Mahmoud Al Fallah and Awad Abdel Zaher) ambushed that cafe asking people for their IDs which is totally out of their authority and without legal permission.
Khaled did reject that way of inhumane treatment and consequently was attacked so viciously , was kicked in his chest and belly severely, and his skull was smashed with the marble bar before all people and witnesses in the internet cafe while Khaled was bleeding. Then savage cops abducted Khaled and put him inside the police vehicle to continue torturing him to death in the police station. Finally, they threw his corpse in the street to claim that he was attacked by some strangers in order to avoid responsibility. The cops were released few hours later and some protesters were arrested.
Shocking pictures of Khaled Saeed's body, whose face is almost unrecognizable from the beating he received has been posted on the internet.

On June 12th, 2010 the department of media and public relations of the Egyptian ministry of interior issued a statement denying the content of the testimonies of eyewitnesses as well as reports by human rights organizations. The statement also claimed that Khaled Saeed was a "wanted criminal," with two convictions in absentia for theft and illegal possession of weapons, and that he had evaded his military service. It was claimed that Khaled had died of ASPHYXIATION after he swallowed a packet of drugs.
Khaled Saeed's death enraged many Egyptians, who went out on demonstrations protesting his brutal murder and demanding justice for Khaled and for his assassins to be judged - all the way up to the Minister of Interior, Habib El Adly. Khaled Saeed's murder was one of the reasons that started the January 25 revolution.

Lin Zexu (1785-1850) was the Chinese Commissioner in Canton whose actions precipitated the Opium Wars (1839-1842). Although opium was used in China for centuries, it was not until the opening of the tea trade to Dutch and British merchants that China was able to import large quantities of the drug. By the early nineteenth century opium was the principal product that the English East India Company traded in China and opium addiction was becoming a widespread social problem. When the emperor's own son died of an overdose, he decided to put an end to the trade. Lin Zexu was sent to Canton, the chief trading port of the East India Company, with instructions to negotiate an end to the importation of opium into China. The English merchants were uncooperative, so he seized their stores of opium. This led to immediate military action. The Chinese were decisively defeated and had to cede to a humiliating treaty that legalized the opium trade. As a result commissioner Lin was dismissed from office and sent into exile.
Lin Zexu's "Letter of Advice to Queen Victoria" was written before the outbreak of the Opium Wars. It was a remarkably frank document, especially given the usual highly stylized language of Chinese diplomacy. There remains some question whether Queen Victoria ever read the letter.

Thus, the Opium Wars began with the British Army fighting as mercenaries. They attacked cities and blockaded ports. The Chinese Army, decimated by 10 years of rampant opium addiction, proved no match for the British Army. The war ended in 1839 with the signing of "The Treaty of Nanking." This included provisions especially designed to guarantee the right to enslave an entire population with opium. The "peace treaty" included these provisions: "1) full legalization of the opium trade in China, 2) compensation from the opium stockpiles confiscated by Lin of 2 million pounds, 3) territorial sovereignty for the British Crown over several designated offshore islands.
British Prime Minister Palmerston wrote Crown Commissioner Captain Charles Elliot that the treaty didn't go far enough. He said it should have been rejected out of hand because: "After all, our naval power is so strong that we can tell the Emperor what we mean to hold rather than what he would cede. We must demand the admission of opium into interior China as an article of lawful commerce and increase the indemnity payments and British access to several additional Chinese ports." Thus, China not only had to pay the cost of his dumped opium but reimburse England an unheard sum of 21 million pounds for the cost of the war!
Our media, being an arm of government, neglects to tell us why Hong Kong was handed back once the lease was up.
