The Amazon rainforest (Portuguese: Floresta Amazônica or Amazônia; Spanish: Selva Amazónica, Amazonía or usually Amazonia; French: Forêt amazonienne; Dutch: Amazoneregenwoud), also known in English as Amazonia or the Amazon Jungle, is a moist broadleaf forest that covers most of the Amazon basin of South America. This basin encompasses 7,000,000 square kilometres (2,700,000 sq mi), of which 5,500,000 square kilometres (2,100,000 sq mi) are covered by the rainforest. This region includes territory belonging to nine nations. The majority of the forest is contained within Brazil, with 60% of the rainforest, followed by Peru with 13%, Colombia with 10%, and with minor amounts in Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana. States or departments in four nations contain "Amazonas" in their names. The Amazon represents over half of the planet's remaining rainforests, and comprises the largest and most biodiverse tract of tropical rainforest in the world, with an estimated 390 billion individual trees divided into 16,000 species.

Por outro lado, é óbvio que muito, mas muito raramente seremos capazes de entender e compreender tudo que vive e acontece nesse lugar. This is a metaphorical journey through the Amazon delta and the problems that threaten its future as great living river. We will see the work of archaeologists in Marajó Island, emerged right at the mouth of the river where there was a people whose culture still remains secret. We will also know how humans and wildlife adapt to this situation of antagonistic but complementary match between the river and the sea. In this mixed ecosystem, life is multiplied to the nth degree and the Amazon River says goodbye, filling our planet with life.

Travel video about destination Amazonica in Brazil. In today’s world, an expedition on an Amazonas ship into the depths of the rain forestmust surely be one of the most thrilling experiences possible. An adventure within a tropical world of wonder that has not yet been consumed by civilisation. Manaus, the capital of the Brazilian federal state of Amazonas, lies on the banks of the Rio Negro and is surrounded by impenetrable rain forest. From here explorers ventured further into the wilderness by boat and even today the Amazonians travel by boat as the rivers serve as roads through the jungle. The city’s huge cathedral was constructed during the rubber boom which made it prosper. A journey of several days is about to begin on the Amazon Clipper, upstream on the Rio Negro, one of the region...
Peru – a land of extremes and intrigue – principally known for being home to the most important archaeological site in all of the Americas, offers in reality so much more. Its landscapes range from high Andean peaks, to sultry Amazon rainforests, from high altitude deserts and wild windswept coasts. Of course its great to travel with the Incas from Cusco to the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu, but its also possible to get off the beaten track, to explore remote ruins of the cloud warriors in the north, or afro-Peruvian beats along the pacific coast. Most of all it’s a diverse country that offers something for everyone. But for many, a trip to Peru will begin in Cusco. As the ancient Inca capital, and the political power base in colonial times, Cusco has its fair share of sites. Sitting in a na...

Amazonia
Amazonia
From the heart of Amazonia
Comes the very air we breathe
But the people there are poor
Can't see the forest for the trees
In the time it takes to sing this song
Another acre's gone
Gotta save the Amazonia
Before all of it is gone
Amazonia
Amazonia
With so many people hungry
All those children there to feed
No use blaming the Sinterras
They've got families
Finding other ways to prosper
Realize the damage done
Educate them with an answer
And take care of everyone
In Amazonia
Amazonia
Amazonia
Simple answers are much harder
To accomplish than the rest
And there's always someone getting hurt
When you have to do what's best
So put your imagination
And your shoulder to the task
Save the rain forest from ourselves
There's no more we can ask
