Two people have died after a semi-trailer collided with their vehicle in the Southern Highlands on Wednesday evening.
The sedan the pair were travelling in was struck by a southbound semi-trailer while trying to cross the Hume Highway at Golden Vale Road shortly after 6.30pm. The driver and passenger of the sedan died at the scene.

Police from Hume Local Area command closed one lane of southbound traffic along the highway and established a crime scene shortly after.
The driver of the semi-trailer driver was detained for mandatory blood and urine samples.
Police are preparing a report for the coroner.
