Low-lying bayside and riverside Brisbane suburbs are being warned to prepare for potential flash flooding over the weekend, with an abnormally high tide expected.
Brisbane City Council advised residents in areas prone to localised flooding to avoid parking their cars in the street and said sandbags were available if required.
Areas connected to foreshore and tide-affected areas of the river, creeks and other waterways may also be affected, according to BCC.
The Bureau of Meteorology forecast high tides above 2.65 metres on Saturday, Sunday and Monday evenings, with the peaks expected between 9 and 10.35pm.
However, rough conditions on water were not expected, with the large swell expected to remain offshore.
Council said the weekend peaks were predicted to have similar impacts to the high tides experienced between June 23 and 25.
While there were no reports of damage to properties last month, there was minor flooding in bayside, riverside and low-lying suburban streets.
Sandbags will be available during any time of the day at the following locations:
- 38 Shamrock Road, Darra
- 9 Redfern Street, Morningside
- 66 Wilston Road (in carpark off Erneton Street), Newmarket
- 33 Jennings Street, Zillmere
- Herbert Street, Lota.
