RhoDeo 1122 Roots

Hello, we stick to last weeks voices but turn back towards Europa, the Balkan to be more precise, Bulgaria if you want it more precise. A few decades ago Les Voix Bulgares was upon everyones radar as the work of Swiss ethnomusicologist Marcel Cellier whose recordings of the Bulgarian State Radio and Television Female Vocal Choir ended up mainstream after being released and promoted by trendy label 4AD. The harmonies hit a nerve then and still do....

***** ***** ***** ***** *****

Les Voix Bulgares is the vocal manifestation of an ancient, savage , proud and rustic tradition; an expression modelled by the women of a people oppressed for centuries, crying the loss of their men in a neverending revolt, whilst firmly voicing their resistance to the invader. Sharp piercing voices from wide open spaces, bodily and closely woven like the singers themselves who as they chant grip eachother by the waist or simply hold hands.

In 1951, the father of Bulgarian concert folk music, Philip Koutev, established the Ensemble of the Bulgarian Republic. His goals was to join the rich heritage of his country's solo folk songs with harmonies and arrangements that highlighted their beautiful timbres and irregular rhythms. One year later, the Bulgarian State Radio and Television Female Vocal Choir was founded. Then as now, its members are singers from the rural regions of Bulgaria, each an informal apprentice in the folk songs of her home.

Singers are chosen from country villages for the beauty and openness of their voices, and they undergo extensive training in the unique, centuries-old singing style. Influenced by Bulgaria's Thracian, Bulgarian, Ottoman and Byzantine history, their music is striking in its use of diaphonic singing and distinctive timbre, as well as its modal scales and dissonant harmonies (abundant second, seventh, and ninth intervals).

Though the choir became widely known when the trend-setting English alternative record label 4AD released a pair of anthology albums in 1986 and 1988 with the now famous title Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares, their recordings date as far back as 1957. The first pressing of the Voix Bulgares album was the result of fifteen years of work by Swiss ethnomusicologist and producer Marcel Cellier and was originally released in 1975 on his small Discs Cellier label. Ivo Watts-Russell (founder of 4AD) was introduced to the choir from a third or fourth generation audio cassette lent to him by Peter Murphy, singer from the band Bauhaus. He became thoroughly entranced by the music, and tracked down and licensed the recordings from Cellier. The group has since performed extensively around the world to wide acclaim and were honored with a Grammy Award in 1989 for their second album.

In 1992, the choir formally divided into two: one for radio, one for television. Bulgarian television signed a contract with the one half, which is the Bulgarian State Television Female Vocal Choir; the other half, Les Voix Bulgares De Radio Sofia , organized itself as a collective, and now performs as "Angelite - The Bulgarian Voices."

RhoDeo 1122 Illuminatus 1st Trip I

Hello, I've noticed considerable interest in the Illuminatus ! trilogy PDF, but then i know how it goes... 2mb ? Sure let's have that. Afterwards it tends to get forgotten between all the other stuff that enhances your collection. Time to read ? Often that part looses out. Therefore i present to you today and the coming months this Trilogy in about one hour sessions in audiobook form. I left it in MP3 so you can easily load it up to your phone or player and enjoy on the road, in bed or whenever. It's been read by Ken Campbell and Chris Fairbank who broadcasted it live in London on Resonance FM in June 2006. Here's a chance for the rest of the world to listen in.

ILLUMINATUS ! I - The Eye In The Pyramid

It was the year when they finally immanentized the Eschaton." And so begins the original and genuine trilogy of conspiracies, Illuminatus!. For the first time in audiobook form, Deepleaf Audio presents the unabridged Trilogy in all its grandeur, spookiness, hilarity and brilliance.

Part I - The Eye in the Pyramid was performed by the incomparable Ken Campbell and Chris Fairbank, and broadcast live in London on ResonanceFM in June 2006. In 1976, Ken Campbell adapted Illuminatus! for the stage - a 10 hour epic which went on to open the Royal National Theatre in London under the patronage of Her Majesty Elizabeth II. Chris Fairbank played Simon Moon, among other characters. 30 years and 23 Fernando Poos since Ken and Chris first breathed life into Shea and Wilson's masterpiece and Illuminatus! seems even more startlingly relevant and chock full of laughter than ever before. Enjoy the Trips!

The three parts of the trilogy are subdivided into five "books" named after the five seasons of the Discordian calendar. These books are also subdivided into ten "trips" named after the ten Sephirot. The last trip's conclusion is followed by fourteen appendices named after letters of the Hebrew Alphabet, which share their names with paths on the Tree of Life.

Sundaze 1122

Hello, glad to see you at another new Sundaze, today we have two prolific composers.who have been creating music for decades minimalists in very different ways and still perfect Sundaze. Njoy !

Hans Joachim is one of the pioneers at the field of the exploitation of electrically generated tones, sounds and noises and belongs to the founders of contemporary popular electronic music. His discografie listes about 80 releases and there are more than 10 productions ready to be released in the next future.

Roedelius was born 1934 in Berlin and lives since 1978 in Baden, south of Vienna. He started to be a professional composer, musician, texter in the late sixties with sound-experiments respectively a sort of "anarchic musical actionism". He worked with Choreografer Caroline Carlsen for the "Theatro e Danza la Fenice" in Venice, with Esther Linley, Mark Lintern-Harris and Joao de Bruco for the "Wiener Festwochen", the "Donaufestival", the "Eurokaz" in Zagreb, the "Szene Salzburg" and other Festivals. In 1968 Roedelius co-founded the music commune known as "Human Being" and co-formed Zodiak Free Arts Lab, the center of Berlin's Underground Culture at the time, with conceptual artist Conrad Schnitzler. He met Dieter Moebius at the Zodiak. In 1970 Roedelius, Schnitzler and Moebius formed Kluster (later known as Cluster). While he played as a member of Cluster, Roedelius worked in various projects like Geräusche, Plus/minus, Per Sonare, Harmonia, Meeting Point Vienna, Friendly Game, Aquarello and Tempus Transit. He has collaborated with many other composers and performers including Brian Eno.

In the interim, after Cluster went on hiatus in the wake of 1981's Curiosum, he plunged fully into solo work, regularly releasing several new LPs each year. Although most of these projects pursued ambient paths -- the multi-chapter Selbstportrait series, 1981's Lustwandel, 1987's Momenti Felici and 1992's Friendly Game all being good examples -- others like 1982's Offene Türen and 1992's Sinfonia Contempora I explored more dissonant electronic soundscapes. Additionally, Roedelius worked in a series of mediums including theatre, dance and film, collaborating with everyone from Holger Czukay to Peter Baumann; in 1990, he and Moebius also reunited for Apropos Cluster, and the duo continued working together throughout the decade to follow. Roedelius has written poems in English and German, some of which he recites on his albums. His solo albums are collections of quiet atmospheric piano pieces, including solos Momenti Felici (1987), duos Pink, Blue and Amber (1996) or groups of up to four performers Bastionen Der Liebe - Fortress of Love (1989).

Roedelius had been growing substantially in fame since Cluster began touring again in 1996. He is now often cited by electronic musicians and releases several albums a year, many of which are collaborations with modern musicians who are fans. He works extensively with Tim Storey and recently released Fibre with the help of Noh 1 (a.k.a. George Taylor), an album which has reached 13th place in "the Third Uncut Playlist of 2009" for Uncut Magazine.

In November 2010 it was announced that Cluster had split up for the third time. In the official announcement, the split up was described as Moebius leaving the group. In the wake of this news, Roedelius announced that he was beginning a new project called Qluster, to follow on from Cluster and Kluster. The band is made up of Roedelius and accomplished electronic musician Onnen Bock and will release a trilogy named "Rufen", "Fragen" and "Antworten" (Calling, Asking and Answering) in 2011. "Fragen" will be released on 27th May.

Wim Mertens (b. Neerpelt, Belgium, May 14, 1953) is a Belgian composer, countertenor vocalist, pianist, guitarist, and musicologist. He studied social and political science at the University of Leuven (graduating in 1975) and musicology at Ghent University; he also studied music theory and piano at the Royal Conservatories of Gent and Brussels. In 1978, he became a producer at the then BRT (Belgian Radio and Television). For Radio 2 (Radio Brabant) he produced concerts by Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Terry Riley, Meredith Monk, Urban Sax, and others, and hosted a program called Funky Town. Known primarily as a composer since the late 1970s, Mertens is best known for his opus "Struggle for Pleasure". He is also well known for his piece "Maximizing the Audience" 1984.

Mertens' style, while continually evolving during the course of his prolific output, touches veins of minimalist, ambient and avant-garde, usually, however, preserving a melodic fundament to the forays that he makes into the worlds that he is exploring.

Mertens has released more than 50 albums to date, the majority of which were issued by Les Disques du Crépuscule from 1980 until 2004. Mertens also produced a number of Crépuscule releases and consulted with the label on its choice of works by contemporary composers such as Michael Nyman, Gavin Bryars, and Glenn Branca. Mertens also curated a series of releases for a Crépuscle imprint, Lome Armé, that featured works from the classical era as well as contemporary jazz.

New work released in 2008 includes the CD L'heure du loup which, similar to some of his experimental works, contains a series of tracks based on variations around one composition, the previously released Hors nature. Mertens also released a box set of six volumes from his live Years Without History series, the sixth volume of which (The Promise Kept in Advance) is only available with the box set. A seventh volume, Nosotros, was also released in 2008. In April 2010 Mertens released his first new compositions in several years on the CD Zee Versus Zed.

Hello, still rather frustrated with my windows 7 enterprise, it doesnt see my videocard, the soundcard doesnt function as it should and earlier i found out that one of my dvd writers sends a zero signal duh, im afraid its back to windows XP sp 1,2 3 for me . This system is old in computer terms but then i'm not a gamer-wouldn't be here if i was- it did what i wanted fast enough most of the time and XP at least showed a little respect for it's user, Windows 7 and probably the next versions aswell treats the public as halfwits. Oh well, soon Google will have us all connected to data heaven-the cloud-could it be God will be born there ? Ouch blasphemous, but time is not a straightline anymore it has been moving on an exponentinal path, haven't you noticed everything is going faster and faster.

Ok tonight it's party time... there's a meanwhile rare Dreadzone in there

808 State was formed in 1988 in Bury, England by Martin Price, Graham Massey and Gerald Simpson, initially to form a hip-hop group called Hit Squad Manchester. Soon after the band shifted to an acid house sound, and recorded their debut Newbuild in 1988, naming themselves 808 State honoring the impact the Roland TR-808 drummachine had on them. The album was released on Price's own record label. Simpson left the group in 1989 to form his own solo project, A Guy Called Gerald.Martin . Graham enlisted DJs. Andrew Barker and Darren Partington to record the EP Quadrastate and their next album, Ninety, which put them right in the rave culture. In the US, Tommy Boy got its version of the 90 album almost exactly right. While the track order was drastically changed (and the 60-second concluding track, "The Fat Shadow," removed), there was no real disruption of flow, and seven bonus tracks were added to create a full CD's worth of early 808 in one easy package . The new tracks come from a variety of sources, most being earlier (or later) singles or remixes done exclusively for this release.

For 1991 Ex:el they brought in Bernard Sumner (New Order) and ex-Sugarcubes Björk for lyrics and vocals. In 1992, Price left the group to perform solo producing, eventually forming his own label, Sun Text. The remaining members released a fourth album called Gorgeous, and after that, did some remix work for David Bowie, Soundgarden, and other performers, before returning with the album entitled Don Solaris in 1996. This album marked a change for the band who wanted to shake off their rave moniker and, with 'Don Solaris', they aimed to create a more beautiful, cinemascopic sound. They released a greatest-hits compilation named 808:88:98 in 1998-their last on record label ZTT and a 1998 remix of Pacific soared high in the charts. In 2000, their pioneering 1988 acid house album 'Newbuild' was re-released.In 2003 came their last release thusfar Outpost Transmission .

In May 2008, the re-issue of the album Quadrastate completed a trilogy of pre-ZTT releases on CD for the first time. The reissue of Quadrastate contained three tracks from the Let Yourself Go/Deepville 12-inch single, plus four previously unreleased tracks from the Quadrastate sessions. The band is still active, touring and performing DJ sets.

Dreadzone formed in 1993 when ex-Big Audio Dynamite drummer Greg Roberts teamed up with Tim Bran. Tim and Greg were soon joined by bassist Leo Williams and keyboardist Dan Donovan, also formerly of Big Audio Dynamite. The band signed to Creation Records in 1993 and released their first album 360°. Their music is an eclectic fusion of dub, reggae, techno, trance, and folk. The following year the band signed to Virgin Records and released their second studio album Second Light. In the meantime, Dreadzone had become a favourite festival act and in June that year played the Dance West at Glastonbury Festival. During these early years their backing vocalists included Melanie Blatt, Denise van Outen and Alison Goldfrapp. John Peel championed Dreadzone on BBC Radio 1, and cited Second Light as one of his favourite albums of all time. Dreadzone recorded six Peel Sessions between 1993 and 2001.Between 1998 and 2001 the Dreadzone soundsystem hosted the Dubweiser club night at Notting Hill Arts Club

Between 1998 and 2001 the Dreadzone soundsystem hosted the Dubweiser club night at Notting Hill Arts Club. 2005 they released Once Upon A time followed by a live at sunrise album a year later. On 26 October 2006, it was announced on the Dreadzone forums that Dreadzone guitarist Steve Roberts, the brother of Greg Roberts had died.

In 2007, the band were joined by new members Chris Compton and Chris Oldfield (DJ and lighting designer) and returned to touring. In 2007 and 2008 they played gigs and festival across the UK and Europe, and signed to a new management company in 2008. In 2009, the band released their sixth studio album, Eye on the Horizon.

Transglobal Underground (or simply TGU) is a London-based music collective who specialise in a fusion of music styles (sometimes labelled as "world fusion" or "ethno-techno"). They were formed in or slightly before 1990 by Tim Whelan (aka Alex Kasiek, keyboards/guitar/programming), Hamid Mantu (aka Hamilton Lee, aka Man Tu, drums/percussion/programming) and Count Dubulah (bass). Both Whelan and Mantu were founding members of the British new wave band Furniture. Although the group has always had a fairly fluid line-up (and also deliberately clouded their identities for many years with multiple pseudonyms and obscure credits), others who have been long-time members or associates include singer Natacha Atlas, dhol player Johnny Kalsi, rapper Coleridge, vocalist/percussionist TUUP, sitar player Sheema Mukherjee and percussionist Neil Sparkes. Their remix albums include mixes of their songs by Dreadzone, Lionrock and Youth and they in turn have remixed tracks for Banco de Gaia, Fun-Da-Mental, Transjoik and Pop Will Eat Itself.

The first recording by the group was the single "Temple Head" which was shopped around various labels before eventually being released by Nation Records in 1991. Although not a major hit, it was named "Single of the Week" in Melody Maker, 5 years later and Coca-Cola used it in their advertising campaign for the 1996 Olympic Games. The group was quickly signed to Deconstruction Records, for whom they recorded an album. The label, however, declined to release the album, which eventually saw the light of day on the Nation label as Dream of 100 Nations. This album marked the group debut of Natacha Atlas, formerly of Jah Wobble's Invaders of the Heart.

After two more albums, International Times (1994) and Psychic Karaoke(1996) Atlas left to concentrate on her solo career, with which the core TGU members were already heavily involved as producers and remixers, and Dubulah and Sparkes left to form Temple of Sound. After a period of inactivity a new TGU line-up emerged with the album Rejoice Rejoice and toured Europe supporting Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. The band subsequently left Nation Records and, after releasing the album Yes Boss Food Corner on Mondo Rhythmica (part of the Ark 21 label), set up their own Mule Satellite label for their 2004 album Impossible Broadcasting. The band remains a popular live attraction and its members also continue to work as DJs and remixers.

RhoDeo 1121 Goldy Rhox 27

Hello, today the 26th post of GoldyRhox, classic pop rock. Another remaster again today, which not always works but i have no complaints about this 35 years old upgrade although at the time it sounded way better then most music releases.
Today there not one but two files, however there's just one album be it in two versions. It's not from the usual Anglo American cultural dominators either. Yet these guys have made a huge name for themselves and had they been Anglo American, i have no doubt they would have sold many millions of records, those socalled free airwaves have always been an illusion. Only now, with the increasing integration of the Internet has the playingfield started to level somewhat.

To be honest here i've been a fan for almost 4 decades now and i was shocked to see they just got one gold album..truly bizar. The nature of their music made touring in the seventies and eighties rather bothersome, certainly considering their perfectionism. As it was not in their nature to model in the spotights they didnt feed the press either. Meanwhile their status grew all through the nineties, and this last decade they've done some more touring as their Hi-Tech was finally fit to travel. Tickets for a show were hard to come by for long time fans like me, who had all their records, all being scooped up by those that didn't but had heard it was the event of the year...hmmm. Ok, original language and english version are up

Most of the albums i 'll post made many millions for the music industry and a lot of what i intend to post still gets repackaged and remastered decades later, squeezing the last drop of profit out of bands that for the most part have ceased to exist long ago, although sometimes they get lured out of the mothballs to do a big bucks gig or tour. Now i'm not as naive to post this kinda music for all to see and have deleted, these will be a black box posts, i'm sorry for those on limited bandwidth but for most of you a gamble will get you a quality rip don't like it, deleting is just 2 clicks...That said i will try to accomodate somewhat and produce some cryptic info on the artist and or album.

It's very difficult to try and capture the essence of this band in so many words, but there is no doubt that they are the most influential "band" since the Beatles. Many artists have sold more records and enjoyed greater commercial success, but after nearly 40 years since the founder members Ralf & Florian met in Dusseldorf, their artistic vision has flowered to such a great extent that it is very difficult and probably impossible to imagine the current state of electronic music without them. This album almost accidentilly became gold as it's hitsingle was on the b-side of the follow up albums first single. The UK radio deejays didnt get that brilliant track-(too visionairy) instead they liked to drool over the 4 year old b side..It became a big hit but no appearance in Top Of The Pops, that said, they could have sent their robotic avatars.

RhoDeo 1121 Aetix

Hello, Aetix coming up, that is, there seems to be a glitch here i can't reach multiupload currently, i won't panic yet, considering there's 500+ titles linked thru there. Will be an hour later but they're up and running again. A litle sigh of relief here.
Todays spotlight is on New Order who truly carved out a name for themselves after their previous succesful incarnation Joy Division got decapitated when their depressed singer hung himself. The rest of the band moved on and grew into a league of their own after they blasted open the 12" market and in years to come enabled dozens of remixers to rework their 12" singles and thus anticipated the dance nineties (unknown pleasures indeed ). Here today, Brotherhood a somewhat broody album released during their 12" onslaught, just one single here though another was added to the cd vversion-here. Second the only compilation you need and despite later years saw lots of compilations with varying (sound) quality this one, Substance, is New Order's gift to the eighties.

xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx

Rising from the ashes of the legendary British post-punk unit Joy Division, the enigmatic New Order triumphed over tragedy to emerge as one of the most influential and acclaimed bands of the 1980s; embracing the electronic textures and disco rhythms of the underground club culture many years in advance of its contemporaries, the group's pioneering fusion of new wave aesthetics and dance music successfully bridged the gap between the two worlds, creating a distinctively thoughtful and oblique brand of synth pop appealing equally to the mind, body, and soul.

Preceded by Blue Monday (march 83) Power, Corruption & Lies was released May 1983, a synthesizer-based outing and a dramatic change in sound from Joy Division and the preceding "Movement". Starting from what earlier singles had hinted, this was where the band had found their footing, mixing early techno music with their earlier guitar-based sound, heavily inspired by acts like Kraftwerk and Giorgio Moroder. this album truly stands not only as New Order's most defining moment but perhaps as the most standard-setting moment in alternative dance. Yet as definitive as they may be, New Order's songs have always aspired to a complexity that maintains the band's timelessness. Rarely formulaic, New Order's songs are seldom overwhelmed by a four-on-the-floor throb. But interesting rhythms are just one facet of this musical diamond. Their foreboding, grim, and often just plain heartbreaking lyrics present a contradiction to most dance-pop songs, where lyrics are almost always uplifting. It was hardly surprising that they followed these successes with a relentless electro/proto techno cut, The techno-tinged single "Confusion" (co-produced by Arthur Baker) firmly established the group as a dance music force, inspiring many musicians in subsequent years. It was a crossover success on the club scene. Still, the group did not pigeonhole themselves as a dance act. Instead they pursued two simultaneous and sometimes overlapping styles, one guitar- and rock-based and one dance music-oriented.

1985's Low-Life refined and sometimes mixed the two styles, brandishing The Perfect Kiss and "Sub-culture". In February 1986, the soundtrack album to Pretty in Pink featuring "Shellshock" was released.. Brotherhood (1986) divided the two approaches onto separate album sides. The album notably featured "Bizarre Love Triangle" and "Angel Dust" , a track which marries a synth break beat with Low-Life-era guitar effects.

In 1988, the group was heavily influenced by the Balearic house sounds of Ibiza and the acid house tunes making their way into the Hacienda. Partly recorded at Mediterranean Sound studios on Ibiza, Technique was released in February 1989. The album entered the charts at number one in the UK and contained a mix of the acid house influence (as on "Fine Time", the opening track) and a more traditional guitar-bass-drums sound on others. The album is a blend of occasionally upbeat, accessible music coupled with blunt, poignant lyrics.

Republic, released around the world in 1993, was the band's first album release since parting company with the now-defunct Factory Records. The release spawned the singles "Regret"—their highest-charting single in the US—"Ruined in a Day", "World", and "Spooky". Following the release of Republic, the band put New Order on hold while each member continued on with their own side-projects: Sumner once again teamed up with Marr in Electronic for Raise the Pressure, he also collaborated with the Chemical Brothers on "Out of Control". Hook formed the band Monaco with former Revenge member David Potts; and Morris and Gilbert formed the aptly named The Other Two.

Gilbert and Morris were engaged in 1993 and married shortly afterward. The couple have two daughters: Tilly and Grace. Their daughter Grace has transverse myelitis. Consequently Gilbert has not toured with New Order since 2001 so that she can care for her daughter. She reasoned that it would be easier for the band to replace her than her husband. In 2001 she was replaced by Phil Cunningham in New Order's line-up

New Order had been on hiatus between 1993 and 1998, during which time the members participated in various side-projects. The band reconvened in 1998, and in 2001 released Get Ready, their first album in eight years. In 2005, Phil Cunningham (guitars, synthesisers) offocially replaced Gilbert, who had left the group due to family commitments. The band released Waiting for the Sirens' Call 27 March 2005, their first with new member Phil Cunningham. As the title implies it was to be their last album, however according to Peter Hook, the band wrote and recorded enough material during the sessions for this album to release a follow-up, it hasn't materialised yet

In 2007, Peter Hook left the band and stated that he and Sumner had no further plans to work together. Sumner revealed in 2009 that he no longer wishes to make music as New Order.

Brotherhood is the fourth studio album by the English rock band New Order, released in 1986. The album contains a mixture of post-punk and electronic styles, roughly divided between the two sides. New Order would not utilize the guitar as a main instrument again until 2001's Get Ready. Brotherhood includes the band's breakout single in the USA, "Bizarre Love Triangle". It is the only track from the album released as a single and as a video. As such, it was the staple of many 1980s soundtracks, including Married to the Mob.

The album sleeve was created by Peter Saville and is a photograph of a sheet of titanium-zinc alloy

Substance was an important album in collecting the group's 12-inch singles onto CD for the first time and featured new versions of "Temptation" and "Confusion"—referred to as "Temptation '87" and "Confusion '87". A second disc featured several of the B-sides from the singles on the first disc, as well as additional A-sides "Procession" and "Murder" and another new song, "1963". The single, "True Faith", with its surreal video, became a hit on MTV and the band's first American top 40 hit. The single's B-side, "1963"—originally planned on being the A-side until the group's label convinced them to release "True Faith" instead

Substance was the first widely released New Order compilation. Issued as a 12-track double LP, a 12-, 24- or 28-track double cassette, and a 24-track double CD, the compilation featured original 12" versions and B-sides, with a few exceptions: "Ceremony" is the 1981 re-recorded version with Gillian Gilbert; "Temptation" and "Confusion" are May 1987 re-recordings; and "The Perfect Kiss", "Subculture", "Shellshock", and "Hurt" are edited versions. In the end iSubstance was their only platinum (UK&USA) album release.

RhoDeo 1121 Roots

Hello, I've reached the borders of my latest Roots tour, lot's of sun and sand along my path, i will return towards the tarmac and trafficlights, those expecting Balinese dancers should look elsewhere. Anyway, today has a bit of religious theme with chanting from all over the world, global religious vocal expressions brought together on one album. As it happens both start with Nusrat Kahn who'se Sufi chants (Qawwali) have found good reception in the West, maybe because the Sufis have such a mystic label, peaceloving too, thats why their mosk was bombed in Pakistan last month by the smallminded. The other album is a digital tour de force bringing Nusrat Kahn into the 21st century of dub.

xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx

For centuries, chanting has played a major role in religious and spiritual life. Chanting was an important part of Hindu and Jewish gatherings back when the Bhagavad-Gita and the Old Testament were written, and it became just as important to religious sects that came along after the birth of Christ (including the Roman Catholic Church and various sects of Islam). This ambitious compilation, which Triloka released in 2001, spotlights a variety of chanting from different parts of the world. Triloka tends to favor a contemporary approach; keyboards and synthesizers are prominent on Planet Chant, and most of the artists put a modern spin on chanting. So purists are advised to look elsewhere, but those who appreciate a past-meets-present approach will find a lot to admire about the album. Planet Chant is fairly unpredictable; during the course of the album, It meanders around the world, it's certainly not the last word on modern chanting. It's an intriguing compilation that shows how well the past and the present are interacting in different parts of the world.

Gaudi has been pursuing his own singular path since the early 80's with his first major album release coming in 1990 with "Basta Poco" (Polygram). Since then he's released 11 solo albums, 80 remixes (for artists including Bob Marley, Simple Minds and Ojos de Brujo) and been featured on over 100 compilations. His 2004 Interchill album Bass, Sweat & Tears, is still the label's best selling release. He co-wrote and produced the album Re:sonate (FAX Records) with ambient-chill legend Pete Namlook and worked with reggae legends Horace Andy and Dennis Bovell. Dub Qawwali is a further expansion of Gaudi's eclectic and smooth deep-dub electronic sound.
On Dub Qawwali Gaudi has taken an entirely new approach to re-interpreting the work of this great artist. He has created a collection of new compositions in which the original vocals are seamlessly fused with a full spectrum of dub & reggae styles and musical themes & flavors from other cultures, genres and environments. A universal theme of peace and love, very much evident in both Khan's work and at the heart of reggae music, is the unifying element.
It was Gaudi's strong sense of the direct connection between roots reggae music's humanitarian messages of compassion and love and Khan's devotional songs, that was a major inspiration in the creative direction of Dub Qawwali This celebration of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's life was released on Six Degrees Records in August 2007, marking the 10-year anniversary of his death

Robert Anton Wilson (born Robert Edward Wilson, January 18, 1932 – January 11, 2007) was an American author and polymath who became at various times a novelist, philosopher, psychologist, essayist, editor, playwright, futurist, civil libertarian and self-described agnostic mystic. Recognized as an episkopos, pope, and saint of Discordianism, Wilson helped publicize the group through his writings, interviews, and strolls.

Wilson claimed in Cosmic Trigger: Volume 1 "not to believe anything", since "belief is the death of intelligence". He described this approach as "Maybe Logic.". Wilson saw his work as an "attempt to break down conditioned associations, to look at the world in a new way, with many models recognized as models or maps, and no one model elevated to the truth". His goal being "to try to get people into a state of generalized agnosticism, not agnosticism about God alone but agnosticism about everything".

Illuminatus !

Enter, Discordianism, a modern chaos-based religion originally described by Malaclypse the Younger in Principia Discordia, but popularised by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson in the Illuminatus! books, written between 1969 and 1971. It's a huge cult sex-drugs-occult-paranoid conspiracy theory-science fiction book, where reality shifts and nothing is as it seems. Or is that what I want you to believe? It was first published in the early seventies, written by Robert Anton Wilson and Bob Shea, originally as three separate novels: 'The Eye In The Pyramid', 'The Golden Apple', and 'Leviathan', but now available as a collected edition The Illuminatus! Trilogy,

'Illuminatus!' tells the tale of the international conspiracy the Illuminati, who attempt to order and control mankind, and receive individual power (become illuminated) by causing mass deaths. Their arch enemies The Justified Ancients of Mummu (The JAMs), are "an organisation (or disorganisation) who are at least as old as the Illuminati and represent the primeval power of Chaos". Along with affiliated groups the LDD and the ELF (Erisian Liberation Front), the JAMs are engaged in a secret war to prevent the Illuminati from 'immanentizing the eschaton' (bringing closer the end of the world).

"Teardrop" was first released on their 1998 album Mezzanine. It was released as a single on 27 April 1998. The song became another UK hit for the group, peaking at number 10 on the UK Singles Chart.

Andrew Vowles developed it with Davidge, adding piano chords and drum beats, and at this early demo stage it had the working title "No Don't". Vowles sent the demo to Madonna as he wanted her to record the vocals for the song. However, the two other band members Robert Del Naja and Grantley Marshall wanted Elizabeth Fraser (The Cocteau Twins) to record the vocals, feeling her ethereal style suited the mournful melody and feel of the piece.

Fraser wrote the song's lyrics and was recording the song when she got the news of the death by drowning on 29 May 1997 of her once-close friend, Jeff Buckley. "That was so weird ... I'd got letters out and I was thinking about him. That song's kind of about him – that's how it feels to me anyway

In the United States, the song is also known for its use as the theme song of the medical television series House. The instrumental portions of the song at the beginning and the end which feature a bass drum beat reminiscent of a heartbeat are used in the opening theme. It was also used in the television commercial for the game Assassin's Creed.

RhoDeo 1120 Beats

Hello, this could be the last post for Rho-Xs as later today the world will come to an end, therefor i'll post a one-off something i came across some months ago at one of those misleading collector sites that suggest they have what one is looking for but all they have is some paid download. However sometimes they have pages of other titles and sometimes i scroll down to have a look and see if there's something of interest, which is rarely the case, this time however there was a flac of the album below. I have to say though I inevitably had heard of Lady Gaga, up until that time i never heard any of her music as i don't listen radio or waste time watching MTV.

Anyway i decided to get the 600mb + album out of curiousity. Have to say it was better then I expected. An interesting phenomena this Stefani Germanotta, she ain't that pretty and going by her latest single cover she looks rather creepy to me, a succubus if there ever was one. This should come as no surprise considering she's left-handed and spent most of her life in catholic girls schools, the devils just loves it there (what men wouldn't ) Anyway I'm not surprised so many young girls idolize her, in fact she proves you needn't be that pretty to be a star (Barbara Streisand lovers knew that already). Her over the top postures tickle the gay community aswell , no suprise then she's already sold millions of cd's and the next one , Born this way, willl be released next week, that is if God won't stop this mad world in it's tracks. I wouldn't wait for it...the succubus Gaga rules. And God does have a sense of humor, something most of his priests lack. This mad old priest, Harold Camping, has put his complete 120 million dollar empire in motion to predict the end and it has to be said he's reached plenty of people and as such convinced many what a silly old fart he is.

Priests were responsible for the crucifiction of Christ, and why was he the enemy ? Because of the simple message that still hasn't gotten thru those thick skulls of catholics and protestants alike...God is within you ! There's no need for priests, communion ok, priests no way ! Priests are parasites, that given the chance will rob us blind of our possesions but much more important our dignity, and what they have done to women can only be described as satanic (in their terms).

Back to our Lady Succubus, i'm sure plenty of my visitors have teenage daughters ...want to be super dad ..go and get this. All singles art work and lyrics are included. According to Wiki this Japanese release has been sold 5,000 times, rather rare then. Whatever happens it's great end of the world party music.

RhoDeo 1120 Goldy Rhox 26

Hello, today the 26th post of GoldyRhox, classic pop rock. Anothe remaster again today, which no always works but i have no complaints about this 30 years old upgrade although at the time it sounded way better then most music releases.
As for the state of the financial world hanging on one man's supposedly oversized dick..what a sad joke. Obviously this man had twice the problem , real power and a religion that considers all others cattle (goyim) to do with as you will. No respect, then there's Arnold Mr Universe, i would think mr.Olympia considers it his duty to perform everywhere and work-out as often as possible and eventual offspring would be a bonus for a multimillionaire like him.

Todays mystery album is the seventh studio album by X.X.X., released in October 1977. Written and produced by their frontman, the double album is among the most commercially successful records in the group's history.Good for 4 times platinum in the States alone. The US btw were the early adopters here, it took their home country UK two more years and albums to recognise a band that used violins, cellos, string basses, horns and woodwinds to infuse a classical sound into rock.
Jeff L. wrote the entire album in three and a half weeks after a sudden burst of creativity while hidden away in his rented chalet in the Swiss Alps. It took a further two months to record in Munich. Side three of the original double LP (track 10-13) consisted of the symphonic Concerto for a Rainy Day, The inclement weather effects heard on "Concerto" were real and recorded during a very rainy summer in Munich 1977.

RhoDeo 1120 Aetix

Hello, Aetix calling here, todays show centers around one man Matt Johnson a man with a mission, he's fallen of the radar this last decade, and his musical output isn't too big, yet he was responsible for some great albums. His evocative voice still caries over the messages/lyrics he wrote. Lyrics that tend to get stuck in your head. Enjoy !

xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx

At the age of 15, Matt was hired as a tea boy for the DeWolfe music publishing company, and within three years, he was working in their recording studio as an assistant engineer. That year (79) Johnson formed the first incarnation of The The with synth player Keith Laws; after playing their debut gig opening for Scritti Politti, the group issued its first single, "Controversial Subject," on the 4AD label in 1980. A year later, contractual obligations forced Johnson to issue the LP Burning Blue Soul (wavetrain 9th wagon) under his own name. The result, was an unusual and compelling work which mixed extensive studio experimentation with Johnson's evocative voice.

In 1982, The The -- now essentially a Johnson solo project, backed by a revolving coterie of musicians -- recorded the album The Pornography of Despair, which a dissatisfied Johnson chose not to release; a 1983 single recorded with Orange Juice's Zeke Manyika, "This Is the Day," formed the centerpiece of The The's proper debut, 1983's Soul Mining, an excursion into dance-flavored pop.

Illness sidelined Johnson for much of the following year, and The The did not return until 1986's Infected, an eclectic commentary on the state of Britain in the modern world. The The still only consisted of Johnson, but augmented by session musicians and featured friends such as Orange Juice drummer/singer Zeke Manyika and Rip Rig & Panic singer Neneh Cherry. It was also unusual for having a full length accompanying film. Costing hundreds of thousands of pounds, Infected: The Movie was shot on locations in Bolivia, Peru and New York. Different songs were directed by different directors, mainly Tim Pope and Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson (Coil). Throughout 1986-1987 Johnson toured the world extensively with Infected: The Movie, showing the film in cinemas in place of performing live concerts.

By 1988, The The was an actual band again, Johnson having recruited ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, ex-Julian Cope bassist James Eller and ex-ABC drummer David Palmer as full fledged members. This line-up, plus guest singer Sinéad O'Connor, recorded the album Mind Bomb, which debuted at #4 in the UK Albums Chart. In 1989 the band embarked on a lengthy world tour in 1989–90, The The Versus The World. The live film of the same name, directed by Tim Pope, was filmed during the three nights The The performed at London's Royal Albert Hall at the end of the tour.

In 1990 the studio EP Shades of Blue was released. This included cover versions of Fred Neil's "Dolphins" and Duke Ellington's "Solitude" as well as a new original song "Jealous of Youth" and a live version of "Another Boy Drowning" from Burning Blue Soul. This and a later EP of remixes, 1993's Dis-infected, were compiled into a 1994 full-length album for the North American market called Solitude.

In 1993, the five-piece line-up issued the album Dusk, which debuted at #2 in the UK and spun off three Top 40 singles in the UK, led by "Dogs of Lust". Another world tour followed, the Lonely Planet tour, at which point the band's line-up was reshuffled. Another full length film, directed by long time collaborator Tim Pope, was made for this album. From Dusk Til Dawn was shot in New Orleans and New York and along with Johnson and Johnny Marr also featured various characters from the New York underground scene.

Now permanently relocated to New York, The The's next project was 1995's Hanky Panky, an album that consisted entirely of Hank Williams cover tunes. In 1997 an experimental album called Gun Sluts was recorded but left unreleased by the band after it was rejected for being too uncommercial by their label. The The severed their eighteen year relationship with Sony and moved to Interscope, on Trent Reznor's Nothing Records imprint.

In 2000, The The, now consisting of Johnson, Schermerhorn, Nashville bassist Spencer Campbell and drummer Earl Harvin, released NakedSelf and embarked on yet another lengthy world tour, the Naked Tour, this one lasting 14 months. NakedSelf remains The The's final studio album to date.

Since 2003 The The have concentrated primarily on soundtrack work, scoring numerous documentaries, films and video installations. The The also launched 'Radio Cineola' in January 2010, a monthly broadcast from their official web site featuring previews of upcoming releases, works in progress, chats with collaborators and from the vault, previously unheard material. The shows are presented by Johnson and other guests.

During The The's more prolific period of releases, from Soul Mining (1983) to Dusk (1992), most artwork used on the albums and single releases was produced by Johnson's brother Andrew Johnson, using the pseudonym Andy Dog. The artwork has a distinctive style, and sometimes courted controversy, most notably the initial release of the 1986 single "Infected" which featured a masturbating devil and was withdrawn from sale and re-issued with an edited version of the same drawing.

xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx

Infected was The The's second album, it's reputed that the album used 67 different musicians and 3 producers. The money lavished on it and its companion full-length video seemed at the time to be extravagant for an obscure band, but Epic must have still been prepared to take a risk at the time.
Many of the tracks carried on with Johnson's main topics of his feeling of alienation from society as all whole and the melancholy that this generates in young males. However around this time Johnson was becoming aware of "World Issues" or the culture clash between the West and Islam. The song "Sweet Bird of Truth" is about a pilot trying to save his plane whilst flying over Arabia and was released just prior to the Reagan Libyan bombings which affected sales when record shops refused to promote it.

For this album, instead of recording with numerous session musicians as he did previously, Matt Johnson assembled a genuine band behind him to play the bulk of the instrumentation (additional flourishes were nevertheless provided by sessioneers, most notably keyboard player Wix). Instead of the darkly polished dance-pop styling of earlier albums Soul Mining and Infected, Mind Bomb opens up the music to reveal a slow, winding textured world of sound, thanks in no small means to ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr. Lyrical subjects include politics, religion, and romance. The band would also play a world tour and record a follow-up, Dusk.

Still, Mind Bomb is still very much Matt Johnson's record. His mug hogs the album cover, his maniacal whisper is ubiquitous, and he wrote all of the songs except the best one, "Gravitate to Me," which he wrote with Marr. "Gravitate" is aggressive, not didactic, but left to himself, Johnson can get pretty preachy. in the end it's serious, dance-influenced rock of the highest order.

As the follow-up to the much acclaimed Mind Bomb, Dusk, found Matt Johnson (and his varying crew of marauders) carving one of his most accomplished products to date. Dusk leaves behind the infected dance beats that served as the framework for many of his previous albums and replaces them with steamy acoustic-based rhythms that shimmer, while the guitar work of Johnny Marr adds a touch of otherworldliness, without which the record would have been left to stand alone on its strange blend of honky tonk gospel pop.

Johnson's songs seem to be mostly uplifting tromps through standard subjects ranging from love to happiness to helpfulness. As quality reigns through these songs, the tempo can become overbearing. In the end, the songs and the major concept of the album are not so much rooted in the joy of love, but in the approaching darkness of loneliness and seclusion just around the corner.

Rhodeo 1120 Roots

Hello, last week we ended up in India, a subcontinent pushing up the Himalayas these last 60million years. India has been the worlds first melting pot and it's mainly Hindu belief system has always been open to other beliefs..hence the hundreds of Gods and Goddesses. They have a very rich musical culture aswell, these days the label classic indian music is not just for orchestras but for the many virtuoso artists aswell. Here in the west the name Ravi Shankar rings a bell but there have been and are many more, but with a billion strong homemarket the need to go west isn't that great, besides many western artists come to India to jam and or organize recordings.
India's music scene is as colourful as their Holi-festival. Unfortunately i'm not that much of an expert here so i leave you with choice of two albums by virtuoso's, Sitar Star Shankar and Tabla master Bose

xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx

Ravi Shankar, the legendary sitarist and composer is India's most esteemed musical Ambassador and a singular phenomenon in the classical music worlds of East and West. As a performer, composer, teacher and writer, he has done more for Indian music than any other musician. He is well known for his pioneering work in bringing Indian music to the West. This however, he did only after long years of dedicated study under his illustrious guru Baba Allaudin Khan and after making a name for himself in India.

In the period of the awakening of the younger generation in the mid 60's, Ravi Shankar gave three memorable concerts - Monterey Pop Festival, Concert for Bangla Desh and The Woodstock Festival. Mr. Shankar has several disciples and many of them are now very succesful concert artists and composers. The love and respect he commands both in India and in the West is unique in the annals of the history of music.

Perhaps no greater tribute can be paid to this genius than the words of his colleagues:

"Ravi Shankar has brought me a precious gift and through him I have added a new dimension to my experience of music. To me, his genius and his humanity can only be compared to that of MOZART'S." - Yehudi Menuhin

Kumar Bose is a master tabla player from the Benares gharana school. A disciple of Pandit Kishan Maharaj, Bose is best known for the decade he spent as part of Ravi Shankar's ensemble in the 1970s. Dynamic is a single improvisation based on classical themes in the tintaal rhythm (16 beats). And while the album is billed as a solo tabla recording, there are two other instruments providing drones and melodies for Bose's stunning improvisations, a sarangi and a harmonium. They simultaneously offer Bose a repetitive and cyclic melody known as the 16-beat Iehara. His own response is not just rhythmic, but lyrical as well. His structural approach on the first disc is to play across themes and variations, and on the second, to go off into wild flights of improvisation on the two drums (tabla and bayan). Bose continually astonishes, as well as delights, a hallmark of his genius. Wonderfully recorded live at the Saptak Festival, in 2002.

RhoDeo 1120 RAW

Hello, well tonight we come to the last talk of Robert Wilson in this series where he has explained everything. I hope some of you have their view of reality shifted somethat towards a better understanding of why believing is a counterproductive mindset. Robert may be dead now but his words go on and so do many of the projects he was involved with. There's plenty of ways to involve yourselves...

xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx xxxxx

Sundaze 1120

Hello, it was eurovision songcontest night, tonight. I have to say it was reasonbly entertaining, hi performing standards in a giant stadium. Right from the start witha great intro that shaped into the abstract beating heart logo that kept on popping up throughout the show. This subliminal emotive message was enhanced by most of the songs that had some empowerment message within them. Collective men and solo women carried the show but the one couple won in the end with their message to turn to eachother and love. All this under what at times looked like a giant UFO beaming light.

Lots of artists got max points from other countries, i didnt count but I guess more than half of the 25 contestants, which is remarkable. The winner by no means scored the most max numbers, instead it was a steady stream of good points, in that sense the win for Azerbeidjan covered the biggest spread by far. Personally i felt a bit said for the most attractive contestant, she was from Spain , nevertheless she could still be a summer hit at the costas. I liked Denmark and Ireland had a sublime lightshow. In the past I wasn't that interested in this contest but the influx of East european countries has clearly done well for the entertainmentvalue of the show.

Today the spotlight is on Ulrich Schnauss, his last album , an album that clearly bares his mark from Daniel Land and The Modern Painters which i would describe as Sigur Ross meets Ulrich Schnauss and a slection he made from his production work.

***** ***** ***** ***** *****

Ulrich Schnauss was born in northern Germany fishing port Kiel in 1977. During his formative years, he grew a love for a broad spectrum of music ranging from My Bloody Valentine to Tangerine Dream, to early bleep & breakbeat tracks. There was not much opportunity to see some of his musical heroes in Kiel, so the inevitable pull of the big city meant a move to Berlin in 1996.

By that time Ulrich's musical output had already become prolific with a variety of pseudonyms (most notably View to the Future and Ethereal 77) veering from ambient to drum and bass via electronica. These earlier works were soon catching the eye of Berlin electronica label CCO (City Centre Offices) who took up the story. Soon these submissions to CCO developed into Ulrich’s first album under his own name entitled Far Away Trains Passing By, which as it slowly seeped into peoples' consciousness became an electronic classic. Listeners were taken with the lush instrumentation and the emotion of the elegant, simple and beautiful music. The album became a critical hit and gained more and more listeners through the next couple years as it seeped into the far East and America.

Place which slowly came together during 2003 into a record that really showed some of Ulrich's youthful indie influences. His debut album under his real name established his pedigree as an outstanding electronic composer, but somehow he managed to take it further by developing his interest in songwriting for electronic music, born of his love for such giants of the independent world as My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields and Cocteau Twins' Robin Guthrie. From this humble conception, comes forth a record of surprisingly rare emotional power. A Strangely Isolated Place became a genuinely word-of-mouth record slowly growing in stature. The results are an oddly retro-futurist record.
Since the release of both albums Ulrich has been asked to work with and remix a host of artists, he has done occosional live shows and meanwhile his third album, "Goodbye", was released in 2007. Early 2007 he joined Longview as their keyboardist, maybe less surprising considering he's done many remixes of their work allready.

In the spring of 2008, Ulrich remixed two tracks and engineered/produced for the Manchester based shoegaze band Daniel Land and The Modern Painters. On October 27, 2008, the two tracks, 'Within The Boundaries' and 'Benjamin's Room', were released as a double A-side 7" single by the independent record label Sonic Cathedral - the labels 11th release.

In July 2008, the Stars EP was released to support his June/July US tour. A co-produced/co-written track with A Shoreline Dream titled "neverChanger" was released on an EP of the same name. Ulrich traveled out for a short tour with the band in Texas and Colorado to promote this effort, and performed this track with A Shoreline Dream during his performances.
.
***** ***** ***** ***** *****

On Ulrich Schnauss' third album Goodbye, he gently fades away into a shoegaze slumber that drifts gently into an ethereal realm. Breathy keyboard pads are at the forefront and this results in a more sleepy retro vibe derivative of '80s new age, which might be the trouble with this record. On previous albums, Schnauss seemed to be evolving into his own futuristic style of beat-making, but here the excessive layering seems to be a step backward, with less focus on the rhythmic IDM and electronica aspects, and more on the expansive soundscapes. The epic "Medusa" and "Stars" have swelling vocal lines that swirl slowly with a fuzzy sheen as the soothing wall of sound builds to a climactic wash, and the overall result is a much fuller, dreamier sound, with a massive dosage of ambience.

To get an impression

Daniel Land & the Modern Painters make music that is slow and stately, soporific and somnolent, like a sonic cathedral moving majestically through the icy fjörds of the frozen north, or something. Yes, folks, we're in shoegazing territory, with a six-piece band signed to Sonic Cathedral, the label that celebrates itself and the era of effects pedals and gorgeously gauzy noise.

Born in Devon but a student in Manchester, Land is a sensitive soul and, shall we say, not your typical Manc lad. Winter walks on deserted beaches, comfortable silences and glamorous one-night-stands". Although it's never going to win any awards on The X Factor, his voice is a subtly powerful instrument, an androgynous device of no fixed sex that merges with the four-guitar wall of noise only to occasionally soar across the ecclesiastically solemn soundscapes.

RhoDeo 1119 Beats

Hello, last Sundaze i posted 2 EP's from the Massive Attack 11 Single(EP) box, seeing there was considerable interest I've decided to post the whole box, today 5 more beats orientated EP's and in an upcoming Sundaze - likely a week from now the remaining 4-. I wouldn't want to over do it, after all there needs to be some time to enjoy those remixes.

Last Tuesday i noticed some dead links it looks Uploadjockey no longer functions, luckily i hadn't used them much, still because i strive to keep things going as much as possible i've re-upped these, some i've re-ripped aswell. There's two links on deleted pages too as most of those are still life and listed elsewhere on this blog . I ve added the new links here, if there's interest i could put all deleted pages in a RTF file once more up for download.
