Penises have been a Westwood symbol for a long time now. The first time I saw it used was on the Marilyn Monroe ‘Piss’ punk t-shirt which had the print of red penis dildos on the sleeves. I asked my mum if she didn`t like Marilyn, putting ‘piss’ on her face but she told me that wasn’t the case, she just wanted to shock people.
After that I think the next time it was used was as rubber buttons on the Buffalo & Witches collections & later I remember it being used with flying wings as one of the t-shirt prints for the free Leonard Peltier campaign.

I have a question about a penis piece. There was a pair of earrings, Vivienne is almost always wearing in pictures circa Seditionaries. Jordan also wore them sometimes.
They were sterling silver, and (it’s hard to describe penis jewelry) they head and shaft were like casts of a penis or dildos but when you get to the testicles they’re just a loop. I’ve known people who worked for Westwood from Seditionaries until the 90′s and they don’t remember them. A single earring was featured in an exhibition at The Horse Hospital along with rare things like rabbit fur bondage cuffs, silk ties with ‘LESBIAN’ painted over them, and a Sid Vicious Action Man.
Do you know anything about these earrings?
I got the last black penis brooch today, happy me. I love the safety pin ones but found it not sharp enough to go through my clothes without causing a hold, bad times……
