About Clique

Clique Photo Club aims to promote and inspire photographers at any skill level. We are run from the newsrooms of The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age.

Our motto is Learn. Shoot. Share.

Learn more about photography with access to award-winning Fairfax photographers at our events. Shoot to a brief in our monthly Challenges or other photography competitions Clique holds over the year. Share your work with other photographers and be a part of a supportive photographic community.

Membership options

We have a two-tier membership structure:

Full Membership

Full membership costs $49 for the public and $39 for Fairfax subscribers.  A full membership includes:

    • Entry into our monthly Challenges and competitions.
    • Feedback from our photographers on photos submitted to monthly Challenges.
    • Early-bird registration to Clique run events.
    • Ability to vote for the Clique People’s Choice Award each month.
    • Access to our archive of online photography video tutorials with Fairfax Media photographers.
    • Momento Photo Books: Australia’s first and finest photo book company, Momento, offer Full members 30% off their first custom photo book or box order with the Momento Pro service and 10% off all subsequent orders on Momento books or boxes.

Basic Membership

Basic membership is free and includes:

    • Entry into our monthly Challenges and other competitions.
    • Ability to register to Clique-run workshops and events.

Five ways to win

  1. Monthly Challenges. Monthly Challenges run from February to November each year. We set you a monthly photography theme and then our professionals judge the winner.
  2. People’s Choice Award. This is held alongside our monthly Challenges. Clique members can vote from a selection of finalist images from the month to show us which image they think is the best.
  3. Clique Photographer of the Year. A winner is selected with the strongest portfolio from their monthly Challenge entries. Members have to submit to a minimum of three monthly Challenges each calendar year to be in the running for Clique Photographer of the Year.
  4. Traveller’s “Big Picture” travel photography competition. Runs on Traveller.com.au and in Saturday editions of The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age. Every six months we have a great travel prize.
  5. Summer Herald photo competition. Runs in the Summer Herald with 15 winners. Members submit images over 30 days within the theme of ‘Summer’.

Clique Events

Clique holds photography events and seminars throughout the year.  We have been running photography events for all skill levels since 2014. Our workshops are organised by Clique staff and are run by award-winning Fairfax Media photojournalists.

Clique also holds free seminars and photography hangouts to help our members connect with one another.
