East Liverpool is a city in Columbiana County, Ohio, United States. The population was 11,195 at the time of the 2010 census. It is located along the Ohio River and borders the states of Pennsylvania and West Virginia. East Liverpool is a major city in the Salem, OH Micropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Columbiana County.
Historically it was referred to as the "Pottery Capital of the World" due to the large number of potteries in the city; due to changes in the industry, now there are just three left in the area. The city is also known as the hometown of former University of Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz. It was the destination for the body of bank robber Pretty Boy Floyd, brought here for embalming. The Beginning Point of the U.S. Public Land Survey is just east of the city center, on the Ohio–Pennsylvania border.
East Liverpool traces its European-American settlement to 1798 when Thomas Fawcett purchased 1,100 acres of land along the Ohio River in what was then Jefferson County. In 1802 he platted the town of St. Clair, named for Arthur St. Clair, who at that time was Governor of the Northwest Territory. It was called Fawcettstown for a time by the residents. In 1816, they changed the name to Liverpool. It was incorporated as East Liverpool in 1834 when a Liverpool in western Ohio (now defunct) protested the use of its name by this newer town.
East Liverpool Junior/Senior High School, formerly East Liverpool High School, is a public high school in East Liverpool, Ohio, United States. It is the only junior and high school in the East Liverpool City School District. Sports teams are called the Potters, and they compete in the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) as a member of the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference (OVAC).
Beginning with the 2010-2011 school year, middle school grades 7 and 8 were moved into the building from the former East Liverpool Middle School.
East Liverpool High School is located on a hill off of the city's Maine Boulevard via the school's driveway, dubbed "Potter Pride Drive".
ELHS consists of three buildings. The main building houses most of the classes, the office, and cafeteria. At the other end of the parking lot is the vocational building, where some of the career tech classes are located. Adjacent to the main building and also across from the vocational building is the Potter Fieldhouse. Here, the school's gymnasium, auditorium, and band room are located, as well as few classrooms.
Liverpool High School (also LHS) is a comprehensive New York public high school located on Wetzel Road in Liverpool, northwest of the city of Syracuse in the Liverpool Central School District, serving ninth to twelfth grade students. It is the only high school within the district, and is the successor to Liverpool Middle School, Soule Road Middle School, and Chestnut Hill Middle School. The school is governed under the authority of the New York State Education Department, whose standardized examinations are designed and administered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York.
Liverpool High School is a 9th through 12th grade institution that includes two separate buildings on one campus. The main building, named Liverpool High School (LHS), houses grades 10 through 12. The other building, the Liverpool High School Annex (LHX), houses grade 9. Liverpool High School has a somewhat unusual structure, with the Annex being a part of the high school, yet also semi-autonomous due to being divided from the main building by the football stadium.
A high school (also secondary school, senior school, secondary college) is a school that provides adolescents with part or all of their secondary education. It may come after primary school or middle school and be followed by higher education or vocational training.
The term "high school" originated in Scotland, with the world's oldest high school being Edinburgh's Royal High School from 1505. The Royal High School was used as a model for the first public high school in the United States, Boston Latin School founded in Boston, Massachusetts.
The precise stage of schooling provided by a high school differs from country to country, and may vary within the same jurisdiction. In all of New Zealand and Malaysia, along with most of Britain and parts of Australia, Bangladesh and Canada, high school means the same thing as secondary school, but instead of starting in 9th grade, these "secondary schools" begin at ages 11 or 12.
In Australia, high school is a secondary school, from Year 7 or Year 8 through to Year 12, varying from state to state. High school immediately follows primary (elementary) school; therefore, a Year-7 Australian high-school student is sometimes as young as 12. In Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory, the term "high school" generally refers to Years 7–10, whereas the term "College" is used for Years 11–12. In Victoria the term "secondary college" has largely replaced the term "high school" following the reforms of the Labor Government in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Some schools have retained the name "high school" (such as Melbourne High School) and many have now dropped the "secondary" and are simply known as "college".
East is a noun, adjective, or adverb indicating direction or geography. East is one of the four cardinal directions or compass points. It is the opposite of west and is perpendicular to north and south.
The word east comes from Middle English est, from Old English ēast, which itself comes from the Proto-Germanic *aus-to- or *austra- "east, toward the sunrise", from Proto-Indo-European *aus- "to shine," or "dawn". This is similar to Old High German *ōstar "to the east", Latin aurora "dawn", and Greek ēōs or heōs.Ēostre, a Germanic goddess of dawn, might have been a personification of both dawn and the cardinal points.
By convention, the right hand side of a map is east. This convention has developed from the use of a compass, which places north at the top.
To go east using a compass for navigation, set a bearing or azimuth of 90°.
East is the direction toward which the Earth rotates about its axis, and therefore the general direction from which the Sun appears to rise. The practice of praying towards the East is older than Christianity, but has been adopted by this religion as the Orient was thought of as containing mankind's original home. Hence, most Christian churches are oriented towards the east.

Join us as we visit Kolkata in this travel vlog covering as much as we in the city as our final destination on our India trip. After a long train ride from Varanasi we finally arrived in Calcutta with less than 48 hours to visit the city. The health of our group as a whole had really deteriorated at this point with Audrey and my Mom being really sick and my Dad struggling with a cold. On our first morning it was just my Dad and I wandering from Colootola east of the maiden along Garer Maath and Elliot Park en route to visit Victoria Memorial. Along the way we spotted numerous cricket matches which we stopped to watch for a bit. By the end of that it was quite hot and humid so we took a yellow taxicab back to our hotel on Sudder street. The following day, after my parents left to return...

Brought to you by southaustralia.com as part of the Through Local Eyes film project. Adelaide's east end precinct is blowing traditional food and wine approaches completely out of the water. A group of like-minded chefs, winemakers, café owners and producers have established complementary offerings nearly next-door to one another. Captured by local filmmakers Ron Furner and Travis Kalendra, this film follows Africola Head Chef Duncan Welgemoed as he introduces us to his favourite restaurants, bars and cafes to eat and drink in his neighbourhood in Adelaide's east end. After a quick look around Africola we are introduced to French café owner, Christoph Zauner of Hey Jupiter, a thriving café in Ebenezer Place. From there the groups strolls down the lane to The Tasting Room at East End Ce...
Varanasi, located in North India, is one of the most sacred religious cities in all of India. It's a holy place, located next to the Ganges River. Dying in Varanasi is considered sacred, yet at the same time it's a city where people come to celebrate life and to splash in the water of the Ganges. In the Varanasi travel guide I'll go over some of the top things to do in Varanasi. Unlike other huge cities like Delhi (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huipm50W2bw), which boast an enormous amount of attractions to see and things to do, Varanasi is more about just being there. You don't have to rush from place to place seeing the sights, but it's all about hanging out either along the Ganges River or within the narrow Varanasi lanes and exploring, observing, and just watching. Spending the time j...
