The home
A double-storey Victorian home in Melbourne's east.
Who lives here
Penelope Cohen, founder and director of fashion label Skin and Threads, with husband Andrew, a company CEO, and their children Sam, 8, Phoebe, 6, and Tommy, 2.
What we did
"We were lucky: this home had an existing kitchen renovation," says Penelope. "We engaged interior stylist Simone Haag to help us source the furniture, art and objects to create this look and feel."
Our favourite room
"The formal living room. It's a very calming space, filled with pieces I've collected over the years. We've worked to make it a timeless retreat – contemporary Italian furniture contrasting with the Victorian architecture."
The 'hood "
"There are a lot of great parks with bike-riding paths for the kids, and plenty of places to stop for coffee," says Penelope.
Future plans
"Landscaping the garden: we'd like more lawn for the kids." Best advice "Find someone you actually like to help you. It sounds so simple, but if you're not aligned with your stylist then the relationship will never work."
Skin and Threads is available exclusively at Myer stores.
