After shivering through a chilly few days, Sydney residents can expect an early burst of spring for the weekend and into next week when the temperature will reach 23 degrees.
The cold wind that brought icy conditions earlier in the week will be replaced by a high-pressure system delivering balmier conditions.

Weatherzone meteorologist Graeme Brittain said the warmer weather would be in stark contrast to the brisk conditions that hit Sydney on Wednesday.
"We are going to see a high-pressure ridge becoming the dominant feature for Sydney over the next few days, bringing dry and mostly sunny conditions," he said.
"We can expect warm north-westerly winds and above average temperatures over the weekend."
The city is forecast to enjoy a maximum temperature of 19 degrees on Saturday with plenty of sunshine, followed by a top of 21 degrees on Sunday.
Conditions are set to stay warm and sunny into next week with tops of 20 degrees on Monday and Tuesday and a forecast maximum temperatures of 23 degrees on Wednesday, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
Temperatures will be similar in Sydney's west, where it is forecast to reach a maximum of 22 degrees next Wednesday.
Mr Brittain said Sydney had enjoyed a milder than usual winter with the maximum temperature 2.1 degrees above average in July and 1.2 degrees above average in June.
