Natty makes a welcome return this June with a UK tour and an explosive free mixtape. OUT OF FIRE is an eclectic collection of tracks that remind us why Natty is so unique in today's music scene. Moving effortlessly from roots reggae to driving digital productions, from intimate love songs to rousing calls to arms, his intelligent music breaks the mould: providing captivating social commentary but with an acute eye for those personal moments that shape our lives.
Currently working on his follow up to 2009's acclaimed debut album "Man Like I", OUT OF FIRE will give his hungry fanbase a taste of the goodness to come. Natty's talents are as varied as his influences -- as a multi-instrumentalist, a producer, a singer songwriter, he has all the tools at hand to bring his musical imagination to life. A 26 year old north Londoner, he was raised on everything from Bob Dylan to Marvin Gaye, learning to play the guitar at 10, but spending his teenage years creating hip-hop beats for rapping mates. The production skills honed in his bedroom eventually landed him a job at premier recording studio Sphere, in Battersea, London. "Everyone passed through that place over four years, from Razorlight to Mos Def,".
Inspired by the music around him Natty picked up his guitar again at 18, rediscovering his gift for song writing and landing a deal with Atlantic Records.
Since the release of his debut album in 2009, Natty has toured the world playing alongside acts as diverse as Adele , Stephen Marley, Horace Andy, Lee Scratch and Kate Nash. Having taken some time off to travel, spending time in Africa and the Carribean, he is now hard at work on his new album, recorded between London and Jamaica (where he's been in at the legendary Tuff Gong studios) and due for release early next year.
"Before I was a singer all I wanted to be was a producer. I spent hours in my bedroom creating tracks alone. Sampling, banging stuff, programming,playing guitar etc.. Anything to get the right pressure on my speaker cones. I also was a rapper, not a singer, so those were the first kind of lyrics i wrote. It was only when I started singing and playing my songs in public that I fell in love with playing live music. I almost forgot what a computer looked like. This mixtape is a nod to how it all started for me, there's some rapping, some sampling, still some acoustic, but some real bass too. Most songs were produced in my bedroom. With particular help from Dean (my engineer) and Bear (Guitarist in my band). Natty
Natty is a songwriter, singer and musician from Finsbury Park, North London.
History
Born Alexander Akiloe Philip Modiano in 1983 in San Francisco, California. Natty moved to London, England with his family at the age of one, and was educated at Highgate School. His musical eclecticism of today reflects the differing tastes of his parents. His white father, being English of Italian descent, loved the classic folk music of Neil Young and Bob Dylan. His mother is Black from Southern Africa - was very into Motown, Al Green, Sixties Jamaican music and Afro-Beat. Having started writing songs at an early age, he eventually found himself working in a London recording studio as a tea boy before working his way up to become a sound engineer, working mainly with indie rock acts.
He decided to put a 4 piece band together and began playing at open mic nights before launching his own eclectic club night Vibes And Pressure. His gigs attracted the attention of Atlantic Records.
Natty's first full single release, "July", entered the UK Singles Charts on 27 July 2008 at number 68. On 4 August 2008 Natty released his debut album Man like I, featuring songs including "Cold Town" and "July". "July" had an official remix produced by Crazy Cousinz and co-produced by Nat Powers. Man Like I entered the UK Album Charts on 10 August 2008 at number 21. In May and June 2008 Natty began his first solo headline tour with support from Smoke Feathers and Elvin. Natty recently played with Sam Duckworth (Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly) performing a cover of Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division. Instrumental versions of his songs Badman and Coloured Souls appeared in the Electronic Arts videogame Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09.

"Everyone passed through that place over four years, from Razorlight to Mos Def,". Inspired by the music around him Natty picked up his guitar again at 18, rediscovering his gift for song writing and landing a deal with Atlantic Records. Since the release of his debut album in 2009, Natty has toured the world playing alongside acts as diverse as Adele , Stephen Marley, Horace Andy, Lee Scratch and Kate Nash. Having taken some time off to travel, spending time in Africa and the Carribean, he is now hard at work on his new album, recorded between London and Jamaica (where he's been in at the legendary Tuff Gong studios) and due for release early next year. "Before I was a singer all I wanted to be was a producer. I spent hours in my bedroom creating tracks alone. Sampling, banging stuff, programming,playing guitar etc.. Anything to get the right pressure on my speaker cones. I also was a rapper, not a singer, so those were the first kind of lyrics i wrote. It was only when I started singing and playing my songs in public that I fell in love with playing live music. I almost forgot what a computer looked like. This mixtape is a nod to how it all started for me, there's some rapping, some sampling, still some acoustic, but some real bass too. Most songs were produced in my bedroom. Natty makes a welcome return this June with a UK tour and an explosive free mixtape. OUT OF FIRE is an eclectic collection of tracks that remind us why Natty is so unique in today's music scene. Moving effortlessly from roots reggae to driving digital productions, from intimate love songs to rousing calls to arms, his intelligent music breaks the mould: providing captivating social commentary but with an acute eye for those personal moments that shape our lives.
Currently working on his follow up to 2009's acclaimed debut album "Man Like I", OUT OF FIRE will give his hungry fanbase a taste of the goodness to come. Natty's talents are as varied as his influences -- as a multi-instrumentalist, a producer, a singer songwriter, he has all the tools at hand to bring his musical imagination to life. A 26 year old north Londoner, he was raised on everything from Bob Dylan to Marvin Gaye, learning to play the guitar at 10, but spending his teenage years creating hip-hop beats for rapping mates. The production skills honed in his bedroom eventually landed him a job at premier recording studio Sphere, in Battersea, London. "Everyone passed through that place over four years, from Razorlight to Mos Def,".
Inspired by the music around him Natty picked up his guitar again at 18, rediscovering his gift for song writing and landing a deal with Atlantic Records.
Since the release of his debut album in 2009, Natty has toured the world playing alongside acts as diverse as Adele , Stephen Marley, Horace Andy, Lee Scratch and Kate Nash. Having taken some time off to travel, spending time in Africa and the Carribean, he is now hard at work on his new album, recorded between London and Jamaica (where he's been in at the legendary Tuff Gong studios) and due for release early next year.
"Before I was a singer all I wanted to be was a producer. I spent hours in my bedroom creating tracks alone. Sampling, banging stuff, programming,playing guitar etc.. Anything to get the right pressure on my speaker cones. I also was a rapper, not a singer, so those were the first kind of lyrics i wrote. It was only when I started singing and playing my songs in public that I fell in love with playing live music. I almost forgot what a computer looked like. This mixtape is a nod to how it all started for me, there's some rapping, some sampling, still some acoustic, but some real bass too. Most songs were produced in my bedroom. With particular help from Dean (my engineer) and Bear (Guitarist in my band). Dont worry, i am still in the studio with Bear and the rest of my band putting finishing touches to the album, but for now, check out what I get up to with the door locked and the fire burning." Moving effortlessly from roots reggae to driving digital productions, from intimate love songs to rousing calls to arms, his intelligent music breaks the mould: providing captivating social commentary but with an acute eye for those personal moments that shape our lives.
Currently working on his follow up to 2009's acclaimed debut album "Man Like I", OUT OF FIRE will give his hungry fanbase a taste of the goodness to come. Natty's talents are as varied as his influences -- as a multi-instrumentalist, a producer, a singer songwriter, he has all the tools at hand to bring his musical imagination to life. A 26 year old north Londoner, he was raised on everything from Bob Dylan to Marvin Gaye, learning to play the guitar at 10, but spending his teenage years creating hip-hop beats for rapping mates. The production skills honed in his bedroom eventually landed him a job at premier recording studio Sphere, in Battersea, London. "Everyone passed through that place over four years, from Razorlight to Mos Def,".
Inspired by the music around him Natty picked up his guitar again at 18, rediscovering his gift for song writing and landing a deal with Atlantic Records.
Since the release of his debut album in 2009, Natty has toured the world playing alongside acts as diverse as Adele , Stephen Marley, Horace Andy, Lee Scratch and Kate Nash. Having taken some time off to travel, spending time in Africa and the Carribean, he is now hard at work on his new album, recorded between London and Jamaica (where he's been in at the legendary Tuff Gong studios) and due for release early next year.
"Before I was a singer all I wanted to be was a producer. I spent hours in my bedroom creating tracks alone. Sampling, banging stuff, programming,playing guitar etc.. Anything to get the right pressure on my speaker cones. I also was a rapper, not a singer, so those were the first kind of lyrics i wrote. It was only when I started singing and playing my songs in public that I fell in love with playing live music. I almost forgot what a computer looked like. This mixtape is a nod to how it all started for me, there's some rapping, some sampling, still some acoustic, but some real bass too. Most songs were produced in my bedroom. With particular help from Dean (my engineer) and Bear (Guitarist in my band). Dont worry, i am still in the studio with Bear and the rest of my band putting finishing touches to the album, but for now, check out what I get up to with the door locked and the fire burning." All I DO know from my experience is what percent of the male population is capable of achieving what they have achieved.
A lot of people have asked if person X is natty or person Y is natty - here is how YOU can answer your own question! Get a before and after photo, calculate the years between them, estimate the weight in each photo, and then figure out how much muscle gain per year that was. Now compare that to what my muscle gain calculator predicts. If they gained significantly more than my calculator predicts then they were most likely using steroids.

Natty makes a welcome return this June with a UK tour and an explosive free mixtape. OUT OF FIRE is an eclectic collection of tracks that remind us why Natty is so unique in today's music scene. Moving effortlessly from roots reggae to driving digital productions, from intimate love songs to rousing calls to arms, his intelligent music breaks the mould: providing captivating social commentary but with an acute eye for those personal moments that shape our lives.

The production skills honed in his bedroom eventually landed him a job at premier recording studio Sphere, in Battersea, London. Inspired by the music around him Natty picked up his guitar again at 18, rediscovering his gift for song writing and landing a deal with Atlantic Records.
Since the release of his debut album in 2009, Natty has toured the world playing alongside acts as diverse as Adele , Stephen Marley, Horace Andy, Lee Scratch and Kate Nash. Having taken some time off to travel, spending time in Africa and the Carribean, he is now hard at work on his new album, recorded between London and Jamaica (where he's been in at the legendary Tuff Gong studios) and due for release early next year.
"Before I was a singer all I wanted to be was a producer. I spent hours in my bedroom creating tracks alone. Sampling, banging stuff, programming,playing guitar etc.. Moving effortlessly from roots reggae to driving digital productions, from intimate love songs to rousing calls to arms, his intelligent music breaks the mould: providing captivating social commentary but with an acute eye for those personal moments that shape our lives.
Currently working on his follow up to 2009's acclaimed debut album "Man Like I", OUT OF FIRE will give his hungry fanbase a taste of the goodness to come. Natty's talents are as varied as his influences -- as a multi-instrumentalist, a producer, a singer songwriter, he has all the tools at hand to bring his musical imagination to life. A 26 year old north Londoner, he was raised on everything from Bob Dylan to Marvin Gaye, learning to play the guitar at 10, but spending his teenage years creating hip-hop beats for rapping mates. The production skills honed in his bedroom eventually landed him a job at premier recording studio Sphere, in Battersea, London. "Everyone passed through that place over four years, from Razorlight to Mos Def,".
Inspired by the music around him Natty picked up his guitar again at 18, rediscovering his gift for song writing and landing a deal with Atlantic Records.
Since the release of his debut album in 2009, Natty has toured the world playing alongside acts as diverse as Adele , Stephen Marley, Horace Andy, Lee Scratch and Kate Nash. Having taken some time off to travel, spending time in Africa and the Carribean, he is now hard at work on his new album, recorded between London and Jamaica (where he's been in at the legendary Tuff Gong studios) and due for release early next year.
"Before I was a singer all I wanted to be was a producer. I spent hours in my bedroom creating tracks alone. Sampling, banging stuff, programming,playing guitar etc.. Anything to get the right pressure on my speaker cones. I also was a rapper, not a singer, so those were the first kind of lyrics i wrote. It was only when I started singing and playing my songs in public that I fell in love with playing live music. I almost forgot what a computer looked like. This mixtape is a nod to how it all started for me, there's some rapping, some sampling, still some acoustic, but some real bass too. Most songs were produced in my bedroom. With particular help from Dean (my engineer) and Bear (Guitarist in my band). Dont worry, i am still in the studio with Bear and the rest of my band putting finishing touches to the album, but for now, check out what I get up to with the door locked and the fire burning."
