Cameroon (/ˌkæməˈruːn/; French: Cameroun), officially the Republic of Cameroon (French: République du Cameroun), is a country in Central Africa. It is bordered by Nigeria to the west; Chad to the northeast; the Central African Republic to the east; and Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and the Republic of the Congo to the south. Cameroon's coastline lies on the Bight of Bonny, part of the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean.
Cameroon is home to more than 200 different linguistic groups. French and English are the official languages. The country is often referred to as "Africa in miniature" for its geological and cultural diversity. Natural features include beaches, deserts, mountains, rainforests, and savannas. The highest point at almost 4,100 metres (13,500 ft) is Mount Cameroon in the Southwest Region of the country, and the largest cities in population-terms are Douala on the Wouri river, its economical capital and main seaport, Yaoundé, its political capital, and Garoua. After independence, the newly united nation joined the Commonwealth of Nations, although the vast majority of its territories had previously been a German colony and, after World War I, a French mandate. The country is well known for its native styles of music, particularly makossa and bikutsi, and for its successful national football team.

My Dear Cameroonian Family and Friends. This is to all Cameroonians supporting the present Cameroon Government. We shouldn't sit here and pretend that this type of torturing unarmed Cameroonians in their own country is acceptable. Please watch the below video and tell me if, in this present century, things like this should still be happening in Cameroon? Your opinion is highly appreciated. You should also read and post your opinion and read RAW Cameroon latest news at http://www.iTTvNews.com Thank You.
It is now one month since Cameroonian lawyers vowed to strike over what they termed government’s disregard for common law. Meanwhile the strongest opposition party to long term ruler Paul Biya, the social democratic front has supported the strike , with calls french magistrates should be removed from English speaking … READ MORE : http://www.africanews.com/2016/11/11/cameroon-anglophone-lawyers-continue-strike-the-morning-call Africanews is a new pan-African media pioneering multilingual and independent news telling expertise in Sub-Saharan Africa. If you did doubt the power of Twitter you should not doubt any more. Remember the Current American President tweeted more and was quoted often by news media. Twitter was made for taking the news to the world audience faster and easier. Its good to WhatsApp and Facebook but the message mostly ends in our closed Facebook and WhatsApp circles. When you tweet, you take the story to the world audience. That can make a big difference just like #BringBackOurGirls campaign became viral. Lets make #FreeSouthernCameroons and #BringBackOurInternet be the next trending hastags that will be enough to trigger a successful coffin revolution. Be a Tweet soldier for the struggle. Privately-owned tech start-ups - or 'unicorns' - are worth more than a billion dollars and Africa has its first one in the shape of the Africa Internet Group. While many think the next one will emerge from the obvious technology centres in Nairobi, Cape Town or Lagos, it is just possible that it may come from Buea - a small town in south-west Cameroon.
Cameroon's finance minister Alamine Ousmane Mey says the country's economy is set to expand 6 percent this year even as it imposes new taxes. The central African nation last month approved the introduction of 24 taxes that apply to a wide range of goods and services, to compensate for a decline in government revenue from oil. Some of the goods included in the tax are second-hand car imports and exports of timber. Mey also said the government will boost the agriculture sector by making it easier and cheaper for farmers to buy equipment, pesticides and fertilizers. Cameroon is the world's fifth-largest cocoa grower and Africa's third-largest producer of palm oil. The IMF predicts that its economy expanded by 4.8 percent in 2016.

Cameroon’s Northwest region has some of the worst health and poverty outcomes in the country. Since 2011, with financing from the Government, IDA – the World Bank’s Fund for the poorest countries, and others, Cameroon has been improving those outcomes with a program called Performance Based Financing (PBF). Building on that work, in 2017, with the support of the Global Financing Facility (GFF), Cameroon through close collaboration and coordination among the government, partners and civil society, will scale-up high impact interventions such as PBF to the regions identified as the priority in the national Investment Case.
Since its introduction, PBF has been improving the availability, accessibility and quality of health services in Cameroon. This film takes a closer look at the PBF pilot in the South-West region, which prior to the introduction of PBF in 2012, struggled to provide the community with basic health services.

It seems like a miracle when observing Cameroon’s extreme diversity of more than 200 ethnic groups and about fifty churches and religious cults yet Christians, Muslims and Animists are respectful of each other’s beliefs, and coexist peacefully. The neighbouring countries of Chad, Nigeria and Congo have all been faced with civil wars or religious clashes. What is the secret of such a stability and balance in Cameroon ? From North to South, from small villages to big cities, this film lets us meet the people of Cameroon. Muslims or Christians, sorcerers, priests and homeless kids tell us about their hopes and fears. Along the way, surprising characters reveal themselves. They wond...

Cameroon used to be a German colony, and then it was divided between France and the United Kingdom. After independence, both halves wanted to unite and formed the nation that we know today. Cameroon's main language is French, but about one-fifth of the country's 22 million people are English-speakers. They are concentrated in the country's Northwest and Southwest regions - which were colonised by Britain. English-speakers have long complained of discrimination.
