Welcome To My Blog

Thanks for checking the blog out... Hope it offers something a bit different every now & again. Though I come from a pseudo - Mod background (Soul & Ska in particular), I have a diverse taste in music & hope my varied posts will reflect this.

Cheers Skamanc .... I'm not after your undying gratitude, but please leave your thoughts, comments & opinions on the posts & content. I regularly up- & download material, plus buy and trade items. As such, if I have inadvertently "trodden on anyone's toes" in posting anything then please let me know & accept my apologies. Also please support the artists involved & remember that the blog is merely a pointer toward these various downloads, which are stored elsewhere. Legally, any downloads should not be retained for more than a week. So now I've told you the legal bit !

Feel free to give me a shout : waltjabsco@hotmail.com

THE (ENGLISH) BEAT : Special Beat Service (2012 remaster)

1981 album, and the last from the original line up. Class stuff...

Just updating a few things in the library as I'm having a day off work... This most likely completes the posts for July & is no. 980... As we're edging towards the 1000th post, I am well up for suggestions & possible files to make the landmark "thousandth"... please feel free to get in touch regarding this.

THE (ENGLISH) BEAT : Whappen ? (2012 remaster)

THE (ENGLISH) BEAT : Bonus Beat CD2

More from Birmingham's finest, with Bonus Beat CD2, featuring some great tracks from the John Peel archives...

Again, for Rankin' Robbo (Leamington Spa).

THE (ENGLISH) BEAT : Bonus Beat CD1

This is where a life long love of Ska began for me... Imagine a kid messing about with the radio in his Dad's new 1979 Ford Cortina Ghia when "Tears of a Clown" comes on the radio. I was instantly hooked & so was delighted to receive the new "Complete Beat" files from Melanie in Toronto. I was slightly guilty about posting these files though as they have now started to appear elsewhere these feelings are somewhat assuaged...

Apart from the three original albums (remastered), namely "I Just Can't Stand It", "Whappen?" and "Special Beat Service" (from 1980 through to 1982), there are also two "Bonus Beat" CD's, including dub versions, 12" single tracks, Peel Sessions and live tracks. I will start the posting of the compilation with the 1st Bonus CD & carry on from there...

For Rankin' Robbo (Leamington Spa)...

BLANK GENERATION... 1959 !!

WELL, YOU BELONG TO THE BLANK GENERATION

(you never comment and download all the time)

A Dave Sez and Skamanc special for all the silent zombies out there ...

Until a couple of years ago, I never realized that Richard Hell's Blank Generation was a rip-off of a 1959 track.

Thanks to the great Mona of http://sonofexileonmoanstreet.blogspot.com/2010/11/heartbreakers-with-richard-hell-demos.html, my longstanding blog buddy on the Television/Hell megapost, here it is, and quite a bleedin' revelation it is too:

ULTRAVOX : Unreleased Tracks (1976 - 1979)

This may be the last post for a while as I'm fuckin' skint & can't skive off work or dare to be late any more...

Ultravox - Unsung Songs - Unreleased 1976-79

(Re-)starting a Dave Sez Foxx-era Ultravox megapost, there are a number of early Ultravox tracks that have so far not been formally released :

"TV Orphans"
"I Won't Play Your Game"
"I Came Back Here To Meet You"

- from 1976 RockPop German TV, originally packaged with two tracks from OGWT '78, and so wrongly called "OGWT".

Originally posted by Eddie Duquenne here: http://wwwadnauseam.blogspot.com, wrongly titled "OGWT".

Covers here: http://www.bootlegzone.com/album.php?name=RHCD472335§ion=338

"Radio Beach"

- from 1979.03.03,04,08 - 3 dates of the 1979 US tour - Boston, Buffalo, Detroit

Radio Beach tracks (and almost all Ultravox!) preserved and re-served (not reserved) from the generous posts of garychching of the late great asfm (always searching for music).blogspot.com. Full versions of each gig available from the archive upon polite request in the comments to this post.

Bonus: .flv files of the Ultravox 1976.00.00 RockPop German TV tracks thanks to CoZzMiX (track 1, lower quality) and Elektrapunk1 (tracks 3-7, colour).

THE KINKS : What's Left...

Another great addition to the blog's Kinks canon. Here's an interesting collection of live tracks, rarer B sides, out takes and othe unreleased material not covered by other Kinks bootlegs...

Thanks to all genuine downloaders / commenters. Bollocks to the rest !! You know who you are...

BLACK SABBATH : Paris 20/12/70 (Come to the Sabbath)

Phenomenal gig from the 1st & best Sabbath line up....Terry "Geezer" Butler (bass) & Bill Ward (drums) are simply one of the best rhythm sections I have ever heard...

PS Please keep the orders for cd's & dvd's coming in. I am almost late for work now in the library & cannot rely on the fast - dying PC at home...

PPS No comments = no more posts & therefore no more blog...

I realise that certain visitors comment regularly & this tirade is obviously not directed towards those faces.... A situation, however, where 105+ people d/load a post then only three leave a note of thanks is simply not fucking good enough.

Dave is as pissed off as I am over this... Remember we (& most other bloggers) do this as a labour of love & not as a business. This blog actually costs me money, that I should really be diverting elsewhere, like new shoes for my kids, diesel in my jamjar etc...

YOU FREELOADING FUCKERS HAVE BEEN FORMALLY WARNED!

BOB DYLAN & THE HAWKS : Play F*cking Loud (Liverpool 14/5/66)

Great period gig here from Dylan's most creative (& controversial) period. An ideal accompaniment to the "Albert Hall" gig (actually Manchester Free Trade Hall, May 1966), this is simply an essential listen...

THE PRISONERS : Portsmouth 25/6/86

Direct from our good mate Rodd in Oz... here's the Prisoners playing a gig in Pompey, June 1986. Big thanks to him for the this & the other material on the data disc I recently received. Please leave a comment or two for Rodd..

Dave Sez's Mystery Posts No 1

DAVE SEZ'S MYSTERY POSTS Number One

Right-up blues like with Wilko on rhythm and Hendrix on lead, and a solid bass too? From the 1970s? Nah! No such recording. What! Solo, all the same guy on one four-string '64 Fender bass, live with no overdubs?? Through from the late sixties UK Blues Invasion of the US, then on the pub rock scene together with the early Dr. Feelgood? Nah!

Well ... yup! The first of a Dave Sez three-CD compilation of the blues bassist once called Mr. Frivolous Fancy Fingers by the late great Godfather of the British Blues, a much respected gentleman. You'll see ... Skamanc, Herr (Respekt!) Pauli and Martin, dip in now - as always, Dave Sez : go get, you won't regret!

01 1970 Love Is Gonna Go (A.Korner/Duffy Power)
02 1971 Evil-Hearted Woman (Mance Lipscombe)
03 1978 Lining Track (Huddie Ledbetter)
04 1978 High Heel Sneakers (Robert Higginbotham)
05 1980 01 Blue Monday (Bartholomew/Domino)
06 1980 02 Key To The Highway (Broonzy/Segar)
07 1980 03 Catcote Rag (Aspery/Hodgkinson)
08 1980 04 Phonograph Blues (Robert Johnson)
09 1980 06 Sweet Home Chicago (Robert Johnson)
10 1980 08 I Got My Mojo Working (Foster)
11 1982 Octopuss (Powell/Hodgkinson)

Remember to check the comments for details, discussion, additions and re-uploads. Requests for the remaining two CDs in the 3-CD compilation Frivolous Fancy Fingers will be entertained in the comments during the entre-acte. Cheers, Dave Sez.

DVD Sale... Ska & Motor Vehicle Stuff

Thanks to Phil for this new cover...

The appeal for a new lap top goes on, though thanks to everyone who has bought dvd's to date...

I am hoping to sell a few copies of the Dance Craze film on DVD format (which it has never officially been released on). The VHS tape is, of course, long deleted, and these have been on e-bay for a while.

I am currently in dispute with e-bay & need to directly sell a few units to replace my old PC, which is dying fast and is taking longer & longer to perform even the mos basic task. For example, logging on to the net is about 30mins now, and an average post on the blog takes about 2 hours.

I am after a cheap & cheerful, half decent laptop and so am selling copies of Dance Craze, including UK postage, for a fiver.

I also have a unique, professional remaster of Dance Craze, with new graphics, black white sections & lead ins & outs between tracks. This is also a fiver, though I will do both for £9.00 again inclusive of UK postage.

Donations to the blog are of course still most welcome...

Payment can be made via Paypal, to the usual blog address :

skamanc_auto_spark@hotmail.co.uk

OR

waltjabsco@hotmail.com

I hate to make the blog look like a market place, but I need a "new" PC asap as I can't keep relying on the library, and they're only open "sensible" hours.. Plus, if I get one, I can make good use of the free wifi in McDonalds etc to keep the blog rolling along !!

The DVD is a good quality copy & is boxed with a basic label & sleeve. If you buy both there is one box, with the 2nd disc in a clear slip sleeve inside the box...

I am also selling copies of Autodata, which is well known to any one in the vehicle trade. This covers the majority of vehicles on the UK roads & is essential for the vehicle spark & mechanic both amateur & professional. Includes all manufacturers' data & diagrams etc. these are £15 though an official copy would be hundreds of £ ( as well as the monthly upgrade fee).

In addition to these, I have Technical Service Manuals on cd/ dvd-r for Ford, Vauxhall and BMW (including Mini). These discs are a fiver each or 3 for £10

Though I didn't tell you this, all the above could be copied, duplicates burned & re - sold...

I am starting to sound like Del Boy trotter here, but every penny coming into the blog will be a big help in solving the computer problems I am experiencing. Ironically, I have turned down some overtime @ work in order to visit the library to use the computers...

Please leave a comment or two for Dave...

Television - three gigs '75, '77 et '78 and bonus...

The time was when I curated the Television/Richard Hell archive with a few trusty mates. The megaupload massacre has wreaked vengeance, and much must be re-upped. For today, here ya go. Please thank them in passing; it's the least you can do for such a rare gift. Cheers, Dave Sez.
