Welcome To My Blog

Thanks for checking the blog out... Hope it offers something a bit different every now & again. Though I come from a pseudo - Mod background (Soul & Ska in particular), I have a diverse taste in music & hope my varied posts will reflect this.

Cheers Skamanc .... I'm not after your undying gratitude, but please leave your thoughts, comments & opinions on the posts & content. I regularly up- & download material, plus buy and trade items. As such, if I have inadvertently "trodden on anyone's toes" in posting anything then please let me know & accept my apologies. Also please support the artists involved & remember that the blog is merely a pointer toward these various downloads, which are stored elsewhere. Legally, any downloads should not be retained for more than a week. So now I've told you the legal bit !

SOFT MACHINE : Henie Onstad Arts Centre, Norway, 1971. (2x CD)

I've made a start on tidying up my hard drives over the weekend and a number of gems have come to light, including this one. I don't know how many Softs fans there are out there amongst the regular visitors, though I know myself and Herr Pauli fall into that category. As such, this is dedicated to our mate Pauli...

Plenty more Soft Machine to follow, including a 1969 Lyceum gig... plus Jeff Beck, the final Bluebeat Singles (Vol 25) & loads more cross genre quality sounds!

THE BIRDS : Collectors' Guide To Rare British Birds

Bit of a Ronnie Wood theme recently, with the Faces & Jeff Beck posts... here's a great compilation of his first outfit, West London's "The  Birds", rounding up all their surviving material. I bet there's a dusty old reel to reel live tape out there in a shed or attic but until I come across it, then this'll have to do.

I love this UK R&B / early Freakbeat sound - this is a repost from a while back but was originally on a multi artist post. Here in all its glory is the new sharecode plus a clip from youtube.

Woody has become a bit of a tabloid icon / "dirty old man" character in the UK of late, though I think he is still a  top geezer and a total musical legend. I don't actually think it's hyperbolic to suggest he is a National Treasure... I've recently re-read his excellent autobiography & this is highly recommended to all...

Short clip from cameo appearance in "The Deadly Bees" - 1966 film...

JEFF BECK GROUP : Fillmore West 24/7/68

Interesting period bootleg from the Jeff Beck group, featuring a pre - Faces Rod Stewart & Ronnie Wood. This brings us nicely into a Faces bootleg from 1970-71, which will be the next post, followed by another '68 beck Band file.

THE SPECIALS, Cirkus, Stockholm, 18/9/11.

No decent recordings yet from the UK dates, so here's a recent set from Sweden. It arrived as one large file (166+ Mb), so I've edited it down into 2x CD's for convenience.
