பல நூற்றாண்டுகளாக காவிரி நதிக்கரையில் ஒய்யாரமாய் வீற்றிருக்கும் ஸ்ரீரங்கநாதரின் ஸ்ரீரங்கத்துக்கு நாம் இன்றளவிலும் சென்று வழிபட்டு வருகிறோம். ஆனால் இந்த கோயிலால் இறந்தவர்களின் வரலாற்றைத் திரும்பி பார்க்கும்போது நம் கண்களில் இன்றும் கண்ணீர் சுரந்து வெளியேறுகிறது. அப்படி என்னதான் வரலாறு தெரியுமா இத்தனை பேர் இறந்தது எப்படி என்பது தெரியுமா?
ஸ்ரீரங்கம், திருச்சியில், அமைந்துள்ள, மனதை தன் வசப்படுத்தக்கூடிய கண்கவர் தீவு நகரமாகும்.
ஸ்ரீரங்கம், மகாவிஷ்ணுவின் எட்டு முக்கிய திருத்தலங்களுள் முதல் திருத்தலமாகக் கொண்டாடப்படும் தனிப்பெருமை வாய்ந்ததாகும்.
ஸ்ரீரங்கத்திலுள்ள விஷ்ணு கோயில், இத்திருத்தலங்களுள் முதலாவது மட்டுமல்ல; 108 விஷ்ணு கோயில்களுள் மிக முக்கியமான கோயிலாகவும் கருதப்படுகிறது.
இந்த கோயிலால் நிறைய பேர் தங்கள் இன்னுயிரை இழந்துள்ளனர். அதாவது கிட்டத்தட்ட அந்த காலத்தில் வாழ்ந்த இவ்வூரின் சரிபாதி பேர்.
இந்த ஸ்ரீரங்கம் கோயில் கோபுரம் வண்ணம் பூசப்படாமல் நிறைய ஆண்டுகளாக இருந்தது. இதற்கு காரணமாக சில மர்மக்கதைகளை சொல்கின்றனர் இக்கோயில் பக்தர்கள்.
அலாவுதீன் கில்ஜி எனும் மன்னன் தென்னகத்தே புகுந்து அனைத்து கோயில்களையும் அதன் செல்வங்களையும் அனுபவிக்கத் துணிந்தான். அவன் படைகளையும் அனுப்பி அனைத்தையும் கவர ஆணையிட்டான்.
அப்போதுதான் ஸ்ரீரங்கம் எனும் அற்புத தீவு அவன் கண்ணுக்கு புலப்பட்டது. இதன் கோயிலை ஒரு கண் வைத்திருந்த அம்மன்னன் தக்க சமயம் பார்த்து ஆட்களை அனுப்பி இந்த கோயிலின் நகைகளை கொள்ளையடித்துச் சென்றான். /
இளவரசி கொள்ளையடிக்கப்பட்ட பொருள்களுள் எதையும் விரும்பாத மன்னனின் மகள் ஆசை பட்டது எல்லாம் நகைகளுடன் கொள்ளையடிக்கப்பட்ட பெருமாளின் சிலை மீதுதான்.
இளவரசி தனக்கு அருகே அதனை ஒரு பொம்மை போல வைத்து விளையாடி வந்துள்ளதாகவும் செய்திகள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.
ஆடல் பாடல் கலைகளில் நல்ல அறிவு கொண்டிருந்த மன்னனை, ஸ்ரீரங்கம் ஊரார் சந்திக்க, ஆட்டம் ஆடி பாட்டுப் பாடி பரிசாக சிலையை கேட்டனர். மன்னனும் ஒப்புக்கொண்டு சிலையை வழங்கிவிட்டான்.
கோபம் கொண்ட இளவரசி, நேரடியாக யானை மீதமர்ந்து ஸ்ரீரங்கம் சென்று அங்கேயே உயிர் விட்டாள். அவளுக்காக ஸ்ரீரங்கத்தில் ஒரு சன்னதியே உள்ளது தெரியுமா?
ஸ்ரீரங்கம் தேரோட்டத்தின் போது, பெருமானின் சிலையை நகர்வலத்தின் ஆரம்பத்திலும், இறுதியிலும் துளுக்க நாச்சியார் சன்னதி வழி சென்று அவருக்கு காண்பிக்கின்றனர்.
மீண்டும் படையெடுக்க வந்த மன்னர் படைக்கு அஞ்சாமல் பாதிபேர் நேருக்கு நேர் மோத, மீதி பேர் சிலையை கொண்டு சென்றனர்.
அழிந்தது ஊரில் பாதி சிலையை காணாத மன்னர் ஊரையே அழிக்குமாறு உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளார். இதை படைகள் பின்பற்றி அனைவரையும் வெட்டிச் சாய்த்தது..
பல்லாயிரக்கணக்கான மக்கள் இதனால் உயிரிழந்தனர். ஊரே வெறிச்சோடியது. சிலையை யார்யாரோ கொண்டு சென்றுவிட்டனர்.
40 ஆண்டுகளுக்கப் பிறகுதான் இந்த சிலை ஸ்ரீரங்கத்தை அடைந்ததாக கூறுகின்றனர்.
இக்கோயில், உலகெங்கிலும் உள்ள இந்துக் கோயில்களுள் பெரிய அளவில் செயல்படும் கோயிலாக, நம்பப்படுகிறது. இக்கோயில் சுமார் 631,000 சதுர அடியில், சுமார் 4 கி.மீ. அல்லது 10,710 அடி சுற்றளவில் கட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது.
மலைக்கோட்டை கோயில், திருவானைக்கோவில் திருக்கோயில், உறையூர் வெக்காளி அம்மன் கோயில், சமயபுரம் மாரியம்மன் கோயில், குமார வையலூர் கோயில், மற்றும் காட்டழகிய சிங்கர் கோயில் ஆகியன, இப்பகுதியில் உள்ள பிரபலமான மற்ற சில கோயில்களாகும்.
ஸ்ரீரங்கத்திலேயே ஒரு ரயில் நிலையம் உள்ளது. திருச்சி செல்லும் பேருந்துகள் மூலமாக, இவ்வூரை சாலை வழியாகவும் அடையலாம். இந்நகருக்கு அருகில் அமைந்துள்ள விமான நிலையம், திருச்சி விமான நிலையம் ஆகும்.

Srirangam
Srirangam (formerly Vellithirumutha gramam) and Thiruvarangam in Tamil is an island and a part of the city of Tiruchirapalli, in South India.
Srirangam is bounded by the Kaveri River (also known as Cauvery river) on one side, and the Kaveri distributary Kollidam (Coleroon) on the other side. Srirangam is home to a significant population of Srivaishnavites (followers of Lord Vishnu the Preserver, one of the triumvirate of Hindu Gods the other two being Lord Siva, the Destroyer and Lord Brahma, the Creator).
Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple
Srirangam is famous for its Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, a major pilgrimage destination for Hindus (especially Srivaishnavites) and the largest temple complex in India.
According to the temple's website, Srirangam can be considered the biggest functioning Hindu temple in the world, as it covers an area of about 631,000 square metres (6,790,000 sq ft) with a perimeter of 4 km (10,710 ft).Angkor Wat is bigger but non-functioning.
Srirangam among a few "self-manifested" shrines (Swayam Vyakta Kshetras) of Lord Vishnu. The temple is enormous in size. The temple complex is 156 acres (0.63 km2) in extent. It has seven prakaras or enclosures. These enclosures are formed by thick and huge rampart walls which run round the sanctum. There are 21 magnificent towers in all prakaras providing a unique sight to any visitor. The temple town lies on an islet formed by the twin rivers Cauvery and Coleroon.

The state has the highest number (10.56 per cent) of business enterprises and stands second in total employment (9.97 per cent) in India, compared to the population share of about 6 per cent. Tamil Nadu was ranked as one of the seven top developed states in India based on a "Multidimensional Development Index" in a 2013 report published by a panel headed by current RBI governor Raghuram Rajan. Its official language is Tamil, which is one of the longest surviving classical languages in the world.

ஸ்ரீரங்கம், மகாவிஷ்ணுவின் எட்டு முக்கிய திருத்தலங்களுள் முதல் திருத்தலமாகக் கொண்டாடப்படும் தனிப்பெருமை வாய்ந்ததாகும்.
ஸ்ரீரங்கத்திலுள்ள விஷ்ணு கோயில், இத்திருத்தலங்களுள் முதலாவது மட்டுமல்ல; 108 விஷ்ணு கோயில்களுள் மிக முக்கியமான கோயிலாகவும் கருதப்படுகிறது.
இந்த கோயிலால் நிறைய பேர் தங்கள் இன்னுயிரை இழந்துள்ளனர். அதாவது கிட்டத்தட்ட அந்த காலத்தில் வாழ்ந்த இவ்வூரின் சரிபாதி பேர்.
இந்த ஸ்ரீரங்கம் கோயில் கோபுரம் வண்ணம் பூசப்படாமல் நிறைய ஆண்டுகளாக இருந்தது. இதற்கு காரணமாக சில மர்மக்கதைகளை சொல்கின்றனர் இக்கோயில் பக்தர்கள்.
அலாவுதீன் கில்ஜி எனும் மன்னன் தென்னகத்தே புகுந்து அனைத்து கோயில்களையும் அதன் செல்வங்களையும் அனுபவிக்கத் துணிந்தான். அவன் படைகளையும் அனுப்பி அனைத்தையும் கவர ஆணையிட்டான்.
அப்போதுதான் ஸ்ரீரங்கம் எனும் அற்புத தீவு அவன் கண்ணுக்கு புலப்பட்டது. இதன் கோயிலை ஒரு கண் வைத்திருந்த அம்மன்னன் தக்க சமயம் பார்த்து ஆட்களை அனுப்பி இந்த கோயிலின் நகைகளை கொள்ளையடித்துச் சென்றான். /
இளவரசி கொள்ளையடிக்கப்பட்ட பொருள்களுள் எதையும் விரும்பாத மன்னனின் மகள் ஆசை பட்டது எல்லாம் நகைகளுடன் கொள்ளையடிக்கப்பட்ட பெருமாளின் சிலை மீதுதான்.
இளவரசி தனக்கு அருகே அதனை ஒரு பொம்மை போல வைத்து விளையாடி வந்துள்ளதாகவும் செய்திகள் தெரிவிக்கின்றன.
ஆடல் பாடல் கலைகளில் நல்ல அறிவு கொண்டிருந்த மன்னனை, ஸ்ரீரங்கம் ஊரார் சந்திக்க, ஆட்டம் ஆடி பாட்டுப் பாடி பரிசாக சிலையை கேட்டனர். மன்னனும் ஒப்புக்கொண்டு சிலையை வழங்கிவிட்டான்.
கோபம் கொண்ட இளவரசி, நேரடியாக யானை மீதமர்ந்து ஸ்ரீரங்கம் சென்று அங்கேயே உயிர் விட்டாள். அவளுக்காக ஸ்ரீரங்கத்தில் ஒரு சன்னதியே உள்ளது தெரியுமா?
ஸ்ரீரங்கம் தேரோட்டத்தின் போது, பெருமானின் சிலையை நகர்வலத்தின் ஆரம்பத்திலும், இறுதியிலும் துளுக்க நாச்சியார் சன்னதி வழி சென்று அவருக்கு காண்பிக்கின்றனர்.
மீண்டும் படையெடுக்க வந்த மன்னர் படைக்கு அஞ்சாமல் பாதிபேர் நேருக்கு நேர் மோத, மீதி பேர் சிலையை கொண்டு சென்றனர்.
அழிந்தது ஊரில் பாதி சிலையை காணாத மன்னர் ஊரையே அழிக்குமாறு உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளார். இதை படைகள் பின்பற்றி அனைவரையும் வெட்டிச் சாய்த்தது..
பல்லாயிரக்கணக்கான மக்கள் இதனால் உயிரிழந்தனர். ஊரே வெறிச்சோடியது. சிலையை யார்யாரோ கொண்டு சென்றுவிட்டனர்.
40 ஆண்டுகளுக்கப் பிறகுதான் இந்த சிலை ஸ்ரீரங்கத்தை அடைந்ததாக கூறுகின்றனர்.
இக்கோயில், உலகெங்கிலும் உள்ள இந்துக் கோயில்களுள் பெரிய அளவில் செயல்படும் கோயிலாக, நம்பப்படுகிறது. இக்கோயில் சுமார் 631,000 சதுர அடியில், சுமார் 4 கி.மீ. அல்லது 10,710 அடி சுற்றளவில் கட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது.
மலைக்கோட்டை கோயில், திருவானைக்கோவில் திருக்கோயில், உறையூர் வெக்காளி அம்மன் கோயில், சமயபுரம் மாரியம்மன் கோயில், குமார வையலூர் கோயில், மற்றும் காட்டழகிய சிங்கர் கோயில் ஆகியன, இப்பகுதியில் உள்ள பிரபலமான மற்ற சில கோயில்களாகும்.

Nagarkovil or Nagercoil is a town in the southernmost Indian state of Tamil Nadu and a municipality and administrative headquarters of Kanyakumari District. The city is situated close to the tip of the Indian peninsula, locked with the Western Ghats on all sides. It was briefly part of the erstwhile Travancore state, till almost a decade after India's Independence from Britain in 1947. In 1956, it was merged with Tamil Nadu. In its earlier days, the town and its surroundings were known as Nanjilnadu. It is also the hub of industrial and commercial activity in the district, and a fertile agricultural area that produces paddy. It is also known for different varieties of bananas.
