Once completed, the dam will submerge the village and the entire valley. Most of the inhabitants work as traders, civil servants and farmers that rely on the land. "Tourism could be a great resource for Hasankeyf", but no one will invest in a village that could be under water in a few years time. Hasankeyf lives with the threat of flooding in "suspended time".
