I’ve known (& photographed) this beautiful couple Liliana & drummer Paul Marrone (who plays in Radio Moscow, Birth, Psicomagia & Astra) for years & was so happy to do a shoot with them & their new gorgeous baby, Luna! This was shot at their incredible home (which I aptly named Hobbit Castle a few years back – you can see why…).

I LOVE the tones in this underexposed Polaroid (Impossible Project Film) Of Lily & Luna.

They have one of my favorite houses in San Diego. Great taste!

Another dreamy Polaroid…

ADOBE asked me to give a talk at their sold-out Creative Jams event in San Diego. I chose to do my talk/presentation about how I break photographic rules and use several forms of experimentation to keep me inspired. I wanted to talk about my “weird work” and not the “regular work” (- which is generally inspired by the “weird work”).

I was nervous — the room was sold-out, packed with 500 people, and the talk was livestreamed to all of Adobe’s social media followers….. !
Also it was real noisy, and I’m kind of shy… but so I did it anyways.

  • May 2, 2017 - 2:41 pm

    J. La Plante Photo - So true about the “weird work.” I particularly appreciate that if you do the weird work that inspires you, the clients that inspire and trust you will follow!

I shot this a couple of years ago and am only getting around to sharing it now.

The beautiful Rue Magazine who I have shot for several times (HERE, HERE, HERE & HERE, they also did a huge feature on me and my studio HERE) asked me to photograph their collaboration with GAP for their “Back To Blue” campaign. Here are some screengrabs from the online magazine, plus a few outtakes.

You can view the full spread in Issue 21 pages 56-71 HERE.
