RETRO TECH: MACINTOSH
Everyone knows the 1984 Macintosh computer was a game changer for the tech industry. But why was this particular computer so iconic? I learn how Steve Jobs and his team took on computer giants IBM, changing personal computing forever. Living legend Bill Nye the Science Guy joins me to play Asteroids on an original Macintosh. And fellow YouTube creator and Apple expert iJustine explains why the 1984 Macintosh was able to beat its competitors.

A look inside the original Macintosh
I meet up with Youtube Creator iJustine at a massive retro tech warehouse in Brooklyn called “E-Waste”. Inside this tech warehouse, Justine and I open up the original Macintosh and point out a few things that made it so iconic, such as the 128k of internal RAM inside the Macintosh, the 32-bit microprocessor, and the entire design team’s signatures molded into the plastic.

Apple’s MS-DOS Compatible 486 Macintosh from 1995!
The Power Macintosh 6100/66 DOS Compatible is a fascinating machine. For $2,199 in 1995 you got MS-DOS and Mac OS in one computer, thanks to an Intel 486 and a PowerPC 601 inside! Yeah, mid-90s Apple was rather amusing.

One of the more popular vintage Macs was the Macintosh Iici. It was the first Mac to feature 32-bit clean ROMs, and built-in color video circuitry. In addition, it was really powerful, and expandable.

$15 Apple Mac IIci Recap and Fix
I picked up a clean but non working Apple Macintosh IIci locally for just $15. It had more than one fault so in this video, I go about fixing them including removing all the leaking surface mount electrolytic caps and replacing them with something better.
The computer has an Mobius Speedster 68040 accelerator aka Carrera040 by MiroMac. (Who actually made this?)
Also has a E-Machines NuBus graphics card installed, if you know more about this Portland company or the products it made, let me know.

Restoring a (Literal) Rats' Nest Macintosh IIci
This Apple Mac IIci was stored in a garage or attic and ended up with rodents living in it. Can I get this absolutely filthy retro computer from 1989 working again?

One of the more popular vintage Macs was the Macintosh Iici. It was the first Mac to feature 32-bit clean ROMs, and built-in color video circuitry. In addition, it was really powerful, and expandable.
