Rekha

Rekha Ganesan (born 10 October 1954), better known by her stage name Rekha, is an Indian film actress who has mainly appeared in Hindi films. Noted for her versatility and acknowledged as one of the finest actresses in Hindi cinema, Rekha started her career in 1966 as a child actress in the Telugu film Rangula Ratnam, though her film debut as a lead happened four years later with Sawan Bhadon. Despite the success of several of her early films, she was often panned for her looks and it was not until the mid-to-late 1970s that she got recognition as an actress.

Rekha has acted in over 180 films in a career spanning over 40 years. Throughout her career, she has often played strong female characters and, apart from mainstream cinema, appeared in arthouse films, known in India as parallel cinema. She has won three Filmfare Awards, two for Best Actress and one for Best Supporting Actress, for her roles in Khubsoorat (1980), Khoon Bhari Maang (1988) and Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi (1996), respectively. Her portrayal of a classical courtesan in Umrao Jaan (1981) won her the National Film Award for Best Actress. Though her career has gone through certain periods of decline, she has reinvented herself numerous times and has been credited for her ability to sustain her status. In 2010, she was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India.

Plot: Police Sub-Inspector Anand is known for his honesty, diligence and bravery. He single-handedly captures and arrests notorious smuggler and gangster Jack, has him sentenced to several years in prison. Then using plainclothes and a disguise as a Nawab, he entraps another notorious hoodlum named Gul Khan, and also has him arrested and sentenced to a long prison term. Although things go well with Anand at his work-place, things are not all that hunky-dory at home, as his wife, Rekha, who comes from a wealthy family, is unhappy about her new lower status in society and in the community, resulting in frequent arguments, with Anand threatening to kill her on several occasions. Then Anand comes to know about her having an affair Somesh and starts to follow her, hoping to catch them red-handed. Shortly after that Rekha and Somesh are found dead, and Anand is arrested for their murders. He is tried in court and sentenced to prison for life. Anand knows that he has not killed them, but in order to prove his innocence, he decides to escape from prison and catch the real killer(s). Before he could even plan his escape - he comes face to face with his foes - namely Jack and the seemingly invincible Gul Khan - who will kill him in a heartbeat.

Plot: After a daring diamond robbery, the thief, while attempting to double-cross his partners, is mortally wounded, and hides the diamonds in a lamp of a horse-carriage(Victoria) No.203. The owner of this Victoria is blamed for wounding the thief and is arrested. The wounded thief gives a key, a piece of paper, and verbal instructions to a hospital ward boy, and dies. The wardboy follows the instructions, goes to Bori Bunder Railway Station, opens the locker with the key, deposits the paper in the locker, and goes on his way. Then Raja and Rana are released from prison, and come across the key and hilariously set about trying to find the lock to this key, not knowing that they are putting their very lives, as well as the lives of the owner of the Victoria, her boyfriend, and a child, in jeopardy.
