Spread Your Wings

"Spread Your Wings" is a ballad by the rock band Queen, from their 1977 album News of the World. Written by bassist John Deacon, it was released as the A side of the single Spread Your Wings/Sheer Heart Attack in 1978. It features Freddie Mercury on the piano and vocals, Brian May on the electric guitar, Roger Taylor on the drums, and John Deacon on the bass guitar. A live version of the song appears in the band's 1979 album Live Killers. The song peaked at number 34 in the UK.

The song is in 4/4 meter, and starts with a simple piano motif in D. It is written in D Major, then modulating up to D's relative minor, B minor in the bridge, coming down to D in the chorus.

The lyrics of the song describe a troubled young man named Sammy who works at The Emerald Bar, sweeping the floor. The narrator (Freddie Mercury) of the song encourages Sammy to pursue his dreams, telling him to "spread your wings and fly away".

Pink Cream 69

Pink Cream 69 is a German Hard rock/heavy metal band founded in 1987 in Karlsruhe, Germany by Andi Deris, Dennis Ward, Kosta Zafiriou and Alfred Koffler. The band gained their first contract by winning music magazine Metal Hammer 's newcomer competition in Ludwigsburg one year after forming. In 1994, Andi Deris left the band to join German power metal band Helloween. He was replaced by British singer David Readman.

The band, often referred to as The Pinkies, became a five-piece in 2003, when Uwe Reitenauer was hired to support neuropathic guitar player Alfred Koffler.

On 5 March 2012 it was announced that drummer Kosta Zafiriou had left the band, due to his various activities as a manager at the company Bottom Row and as the drummer and manager of the new band Unisonic, which also features Dennis Ward. He was replaced by band's good friend and longtime drum tech Chris Schmidt, who has previously played with Sunstorm project (along with Dennis Ward and Uwe Reitenauer), Harry Hess' FIRST SIGNAL and more.

Peabo Bryson

Peabo Bryson (born Robert Peapo Bryson, April 13, 1951, given name changed from "Peapo" to Peabo c. 1965) is an American R&B and soul singer-songwriter, born in Greenville, South Carolina. He is well known for singing soft-rock ballads (often as a duo with female singers) and has contribution to at least 3 Disney animated feature soundtracks.

Career

As one of the oldest of four siblings, two sisters and a brother, he spent much of his childhood on his grandfather's farm in Mauldin, South Carolina. His love for music stemmed from his mother, who often took the family to concerts of well-known African-American artists at the time, such as Sam Cooke, Little Richard and Billie Holiday.

At age 14, Bryson marked his professional debut, singing backup for Al Freeman and the Upsetters, a local Greenville group. It was Freeman's difficulty in pronouncing Bryson's French West Indian name, "Peapo", that led Bryson to change its spelling to Peabo. Two years later, he left home to tour the chitlin' circuit with another local band, Moses Dillard and the Tex-Town Display. Bryson's first break came during a recording session at Atlanta's Bang Records. Although Bang was not impressed with Dillard's band, the young backup singer caught the ear of the label's general manager, Eddie Biscoe. Biscoe signed Bryson to a contract as a writer, producer, and arranger and encouraged Bryson to perform his own songs. For several years, Bryson worked with hometown bands and wrote and produced for Bang. In 1976, he launched his own recording career with "Underground Music" on the Bang label. His first album, Peabo, followed shortly thereafter. Although only a regional success, Bryson signed to Capitol Records in 1977.

David Readman

David Readman (born 6 July 1970) is an English singer, best known as the vocalist of the band Pink Cream 69 and former vocalist of progressive metal band Adagio. He has a solo album released on 31 August 2007. In addition to being Pink Cream 69 vocalist, he is also currently the singer on guitarist Alex Beyrodt's band Voodoo Circle.

In 2015, two new projects featuring Readman on lead vocals were announced. The first called Room Experience, a melodic rock project made by italian musicians, with an self-titled album released in May 2015. And the second is Almanac, the new band led by former Rage guitarist Victor Smolski, which have an album to be released in March 2016.

Readman was born in Burnley, Lancashire and attended Towneley High School.
