In an exclusive report from Variety, Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage is in early talks for a key role in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War. Since Infinity War is expected to shoot sometime in early summer, the actor’s schedule opened up since Game of Thrones moved from a summer to fall shoot. It is unknown at this time what role Dinklage will play or if it’s based on an existing character from the comic books. Infinity War is set for a May 4, 2018 release.
In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Jamie Foxx sat down to talk about his new role in the upcoming movie Sleepless when the interviewer asked about the status of the long in development Mike Tyson biopic he’s been attached to. Not only did Foxx confirm the movie, he also confirmed it as a “go” and that Martin Scorsese will be directing. Wolf of Wall Street writer Terence Winter is penning the script with a release date yet to be announced.

According to Deadline, Will Smith is circling the production of Tim Burton and Disney’s live action Dumbo remake. The trade reports that the studio is moving “aggressively” towards a production start with a script completed by Transformers: Age of Extinction’s Ehren Kruger. Sources for Variety add to Deadline’s report saying that Tom Hanks has also been offered the villain role in the movie but may instead take on the World War II drama The Grey Hound. Should Smith join the cast, he’d play the role of a father whose children fall in love with the title elephant at the circus. No release date for the movie has been set.
Variety reports that Anna Kendrick is in talks to star in Disney’s female-led Santa Claus movie from Miss Congeniality scribe Marc Lawrence. Currently going by the title “Nicole,” the story revolves around Santa’s daughter who is forced to take over the family business when her father decides to retire and the brother ends up getting cold feet prior to his first big Christmas Eve flight. Lawrence penned the script and will direct the film. No release has been set.
Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first trailer and poster for CHiPs, the R rated comedy remake based on the tv series that ran from 1977 to 1983. In CHiPs, Jon Baker, played by Dax Shepard and Frank “Ponch” Poncherello, played by Michael Peña, have just joined the California Highway Patrol in Los Angeles but for different reasons. Baker is a beaten up pro motorbiker trying to put his life back together while Poncherello is an undercover Federal agent investigating a multi-million dollar heist that may be an inside job. The movie is written and directed by Dax Shepard and is set for release on March 24th.

With the Avengers: Infinity War production beginning soon, it looks as though Marvel Studios won’t be able to keep the cast of the massive superhero sequel under wraps. Just as Zoe Saldana confirmed to MTV news that she will reprise her role as Gamora, one other future Avenger also confirmed their involvement: Spidey. Spider-Man star Tom Holland recently sat down with Italian magazine L’Uomo Vogue (via ComicBook.com), where he confirmed his part in the movie, saying Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans gave their personal stamp of approval in his casting - saying he could handle three Spider-Man films, including Avengers Infinity War. We’ll see for ourselves when it lands in theatres on May 4th, 2018.
In their continuing coverage of Episode VIII as part of their must-see movies of 2017, USA Today revealed even more comments from writer-director Rian Johnson about his upcoming sequel to The Force Awakens. First off, if you’re looking for a darker middle chapter a la Empire Strikes Back, you won’t find it with Episode VIII. Johnson said he wants the film to be a blast and to be funny the way The Force Awakens and the original Star Wars movies were. And in regards to the character of Luke Skywalker, fans who wanted more from the Jedi Master will be in luck with this film.

The Producers Guild of America have announced their nominations for the Best Picture of 2016 and by far, the biggest surprise of the bunch was a nomination for 20th Century Fox’s wacky superhero action-comedy Deadpool. As for what it means for its newly invigorated Oscar chances, we’ll have to wait and see when the Oscar Nominations are announced on January 24th.
Disney has released a new Cars 3 trailer, adding more plot and character info to the third movie in the franchise. Directed by Brian Fee Cars 3 tells the story of legendary Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) who is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez, with her own plan to win. Cars 3 features the return of Larry the Cable Guy as Mater, Bonnie Hunt as Sally Carrera, and Cheech Marin as Ramone. It’s set for release on June 16, 2017.
The first trailer for Dark Night has hit online. The movie, loosely based on the Aurora, Colorado theatre shooting that happened during The Dark Knight Rises, debuted at last year’s Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews. The movie follows the activities of six strangers over the course of one day, from sunrise to midnight, with the shooter among them. It is directed by Memphis director Tim Sutton and is scheduled to hit theatres in a limited release on February 3rd.

The 2017 Golden Globe Awards happened last night and the big winner was La La Land. Writer/director Damien Chazelle‘s original musical scored a clean sweep, winning Best Picture Musical or Comedy, Best Director, Best Actress for Emma Stone and Best Actor for Ryan Gosling. The other big winners included Casey Affleck for Manchester by the Sea, Isabelle Hupert for Elle, Viola Davis for best supporting acting in Fences, Aaron Taylor-Johnson for best supporting acting in Nocturnal Animals, Zootopia for best animated movie and Moonlight for best picture, drama.
Warner Bros. has released a new Justice League image showing off Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woma, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, Ezra Miller’s the Flash and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman. The image comes via an exclusive release from USA Today, which listed Justice League in their new “must-see films of 2017.” The movie opens in theatres on November 17th.
It’s Monday which means it’s time for the weekend box office report brought to you AMC theatres. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story barely took the No 1 spot at the box office over new release Hidden Figures. The first Star Wars Story took in $21.97 million dollars with Hidden Figures almost taking it from the Disney and Lucasfilm juggernaut with $21.8 million at No 2. Coming in at No 3 was Sing with $19.57 million. At No 4, the other weekend’s wide release, Underworld: Blood Wars, took in $13.1 million. And in the No 5 spot was La La Land, taking in $10 million as its domestic total climbs to $51.6 million.

While doing the press rounds for Silence, Martin Scorsese revealed that his other long-gestating dream project, a biopic of Frank Sinatra, is no longer moving forward. Speaking with the Toronto Sun, the director seemed to suggest that the Sinatra estate and the family were not comfortable with him addressing certain issues in Sinatra’s life:
“We can’t do it!…I think it is finally over. They (remaining members of the Sinatra clan) won’t agree to it. Open it up again and I’m there! Certain things are very difficult for a family, and I totally understand. But, if they expect me to be doing it, they can’t hold back certain things. The problem is that the man was so complex. Everybody is so complex—but Sinatra in particular.”
THR reports that Keegan-Michael Key, best known for Comedy Central’s Key and Peele, is in final negotiations to join the cast of The Predator, Twentieth Century Fox’s reboot of the sci-fi action franchise directed by Shane Black. Boyd Holbrook is leading the cast of the movie in what is described as an ensemble cast that also includes Moonlight’s Trevante Rhodes and Olivia Munn. The movie is scheduled for release on February 9th, 2018.
During a recent Reddit AMA, A Monster Calls and Jurassic World 2 director J.A. Bayona shared a story about his love for the original Superman movie and then, threw his name in for consideration to one day direct a movie about the Last Son of Krypton. Asked by a fan if the director had a dream film he’d like to work on, Bayona said:
“The first memory I had was Christopher Reeve flying in the suit. Directing a Superman film would be great. I always wanted to be Superman. That's the film that made me want to become a director.”

It was a tragic holiday season for fans of Carrie Fisher and her mother Debbie Reynolds. On December 27th, Carrie Fisher passed away after suffering a major heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles. One day later, her mother, Debbie Reynolds -- who rose to stardom in Singin' in the Rain and quickly became a staple among Hollywood – passed away as a result of a stroke. We here at Collider Video offer up our deepest condolences to Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds’ family, friends and fans.
In an extensive interview with Ben Affleck by The Guardian, the Oscar winner spoke about his career and his latest gangster era drama Live By Night when the conversation naturally turned to his next project, the standalone Batman movie which he is slated to direct. At least that’s if all goes according to plan.
It’s Monday which means it’s time for the weekend box office report brought to you AMC theatres. Rogue One took the No 1 spot for a third straight weekend at the box office, pulling in an estimated $50 million over three days and a projected $64 million for the four-day holiday. The first Star Wars Story has now made $425 million at the domestic box office, making it the second-highest grossing domestic release of 2016 behind Finding Dory. Sing took the No 2 spot for a second weekend in a row, pulling in $41.4 million and $53.7 over the four day. At No 3 was Passengers, which took in $16.1 million over the three-day weekend and $20.7 million over the four day. Moana took the No 4 spot with $10.15 million over three days and $13.5 million over the four-day weekend for a domestic total of $212 million. And in the No 5 spot was Denzel Washington’s Fences. After going wide last weekend, the Oscar hopeful took in $10.1 million over the three day weekend and an estimated $13 million over four days.

Last week a report from the Wrap claimed Ryan Reynolds had filmed a cameo role as Deadpool in Logan that was allegedly shot by Deadpool 2 director David Leitch. Soon after, Hugh Jackman, director James Mangold and Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, took to Twitter to debunk the claim, with Mangold even going so far as to call out The Wrap with the hashtag #FakeNews. Later, however, THR’s film reporter Borys Kit tweeted that his sources said Deadpool is definitely not in the movie but not to rule out something else involving “Deadpool & Wolvie” in the future. The Wrap has since updated the report with Mangold’s responses.
On Christmas day, 20th Century Fox unveiled the first red-band trailer for director Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant. Covenant finds Michael Fassbender reprising his role as the android David, who is now the sole inhabitant of an “uncharted paradise” which is visited by the crew of the colony ship Covenant. The film stars Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, and Danny McBride and opens in theaters on May 19th, 2017.

According to an exclusive from Variety, Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 helmer Denis Villeneuve is in early talks to direct Legendary’s Dune reboot. It was back before the Thanksgiving holiday when Legendary closed a deal with the Frank Herbert estate for the rights to his iconic novel; which would grant the production company the rights to a new film as well as for TV-based projects . A release date for the new Dune movie has yet to be set.
Lucasfilm made the gutsy move to craft an entire movie around a genuine suicide mission that actually ended in the deaths of all the major characters. But that wasn’t always the case. As Edwards revealed on the Empire podcast, the ending of Rogue One was significantly different early on in the development process and that the first version the main characters didn't die but everyone from Lucasfilm were on board for it.

The first teaser trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi sequel Blade Runner 2049 landed well with fans of the series as well as generating interest from the casual movie-goer. Now, many fans are wondering if the sequel will retain a similar R rating as the first movie.
According to a report from THR, Splendid Films have acquired the German rights to Expendables 4, the third sequel that was previously distributed by Lionsgate. The film is expected to begin development with a potential release date to be determined in 2018.
In a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Martin Scorsese was talking about his latest movie Silence when talk turned to his next movie, The Irishman. Based on the Charles Brandt novel “I Heard You Paint Houses,” it was revealed that the movie would included Robert De Niro and Al Pacino playing both their younger and older selves. Scorsese then confirmed that he would utilize de-aging technology in order to pull this all off.
A new trailer has been released for War on Everyone, the new movie from John Michael McDonagh that stars Alexander Skarsgard and Michael Pena. Skarsgard and Pena play Terry and Bob, crooked cops who try to blackmail and frame every criminal they encounter, but they uncover a larger conspiracy when they try and pull one over on a strip-club manager. The movie is set for release on February 3rd, 2017.

Two familiar faces from the DCEU are back for Justice League. As part of an official announcement from Warner Bros, Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor and Wonder Woman’s queen of the Amazon, Connie Nielsen, are officially joining the movie. They’ll appear with our main Justice Leaguers as well as alongside JK Simmons, Willem Dafoe, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Amber Heard and Ciaran Hinds. With this announcement also came a new EW image from Wonder Woman that shows Diana stealing the mystical Amazonian sword dubbed “god killer.” EW also says this is the very same weapon we saw her wield in Batman v Superman against Doomsday. Wonder Woman debuts in theaters on June 2, 2017 with Justice League hitting five months later on November 17th.
EW revealed a new image from the upcoming War for the Planet of the Apes that also names a character that has a direct link to the original series. The concept art shows a peaceful moment between one of the apes and a human character revealed to be named Nova. Nova is the same character from the original Planet of the Apes, played by Linda Harrison opposite Charlton Heston. EW confirms the Nova in War for the Planet of the Apes is the same character thus offering up the strongest piece of connective tissue between this new franchise and the original.
NEWS RUNDOWN
20th Century Fox is serious about reminding fans of its Alien series that we’re in for a bloody, R Rated film. The studio tweeted another image from Alien: Covenant, this one featuring some blood covered walls of a medical room, signaling some kind of alien attack or chest bursting escape. We’ll have to wait to see what it all means when Alien: Covenent hits theatres on May 19th, 2017.
Michael Fassbender revealed on Josh Horowitz’s podcast happysadconfused, via a report from EW, that he met for a role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Fassbender offered no real specifics, nor did he reveal for what role he was up for; only that he did have a conversation with Lucasfilm but was too busy shooting another project at the time.
The first teaser trailer for James Gray‘sThe Lost City of Z has been released. The movie is based on a true tale of British military man, Percy Fawcett, (Charlie Hunnam) who becomes an explorer in search of the lost city in the Amazon. The movie also stars Robert Pattinson and Tom Holland and will premiere on April 14th 2017.

According to an exclusive report from Variety, Woody Harrelson is in early talks to play Han Solo’s mentor in the upcoming spin-off film starring Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, and Emilia Clarke. Variety’s sources say that Harrelson is Lucasfilm’s “top choice,” with executives wanting the role to go to an actor with considerable clout. The as yet untitled Star Wars spin-off about Han Solo will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and is tentatively set for release on May 25th, 2018.
In an interview with Variety, Ryan Reynolds revealed that he has an idea and outline for a Deadpool/Wolverine movie that he hopes to get Hugh Jackman involved with, even though Jackman is planning on hanging up the claws after his appearance in this March’s Logan. While speaking with the outlet, Reynolds said he would like to play Deadpool for as long as they would let me him, as well as saying he hopes he can convince Jackman to join up with him one last time as Wolverine.

A new TV spot has been released for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The 30 second spot offers up a few bits of new footage that feature a better look at Emma Watson and Dan Stevens Belle and the Beast. The movie is directed by Bill Condon and also stars Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Kevin Kline, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Ian McKellen, and Emma Thopmson. It is set to hit theatres on March 17th.
A new action-heavy Russian trailer has been released for Wonder Woman. The Patty Jenkins-directed feature stars Gal Gadot and is the latest installment in Warner Bros.' DC Films Universe. The movie will hit theatres ahead of the highly anticipated Justice League on June 2nd, and also stars Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Lucy Davis, and Danny Huston.
Back when James Gunn was casting the role of Star-Lord’s father in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, Matthew McConaughey’s name surfaced as one of the top choices for the part. Clearly that never happened as McConaughey passed on the role that eventually went to Kurt Russell. McConaughey recently shed some light on the reasons why during an interview with Playboy, in which the actor revealed that it came down to a choice between doing Guardians or The Dark Tower adaptation.

While fans are still mourning the tragic death of Carrie Fisher, the folks at Lucasfilm are faced with the monumental task of deciding how to proceed without Fisher’s General Leia. THR reports that her character was poised to have an even bigger role in Episode 9. Director Colin Trevorrow is due to arrive in Los Angeles next week to meet with Lucasfilm to decide how to proceed. On a lighter topic, a Utah based man created a petition to make Star Wars' Leia an official Disney princess. The petition asks the Walt Disney Corporation to hold a full ceremony inducting Leia as the newest Disney princess.
Marvel and Disney released the official synopsis for their upcoming Thor: Ragnarok. What We Do in the Shadows filmmaker Taika Waititi directs the sequel which finds Chris Hemsworth’s Thor sharing the screen with Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. How do the two characters come to be together? Disney and Marvel announced yesterday that The People v. O.J. Simpson’s Sterling K. Brown has been cast in Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther. The Golden Globe-nominated actor will take on the role of N’Jobu, a figure from Black Panther’s past. The movie stars Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther alongside Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger, Lupita Nyong’o’s Nakia and Angela Bassett as as T’Challa’s mother, Romonda. Black Panther is scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 16, 2018.
At the press event for M. Night Shyamalan‘s Split, ComingSoon.net spoke with The Witch actress Anya Taylor-Joy where she revealed that she has seen the New Mutants animatic director Josh Boone created for the project. Taylor-Joy has long been rumored to be a part of the X-Men spin-off film, but stopped short of confirming her actual involvement. However, when pressed if she would look forward to reuniting with her Split co-star James McAvoy, Taylor-Joy did let slip that he is already a part of the movie.
In advance of the 30th anniversary of Child’s Play next year, the horror film franchise centering on the iconic Chucky doll is about to bring the Good Guy back to life. Cult of Chucky, the seventh feature, will begin principal photography on January 9th in Winnipeg, Canada. To celebrate, EW released a short teaser trailer that works as a little catch up to all the past six movies. The film will pick up where 2013’s Curse of Chucky left off; with Nica Pierce confined in an asylum for the criminally insane. The movie will be released later this year, just in time for Halloween.
Entertainment Weekly revealed a new set of images and plot details for Pixar’s Cars 3. New director Brian Fee revealed the movie will find Owen Wilson’s Lightning McQueen discovering he’s not the young hotshot anymore as he goes wheel to wheel with new villain, and high-tech racer Jackson Storm; voiced by The Social Network’s Armie Hammer.

According to a report from Disney‘s official fan club D23, it has finally been confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange character will appear in Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok. The fan club previewed the Taika Waititi film in its 2017 update this past weekend where it was revealed by the following description: “Thor: Ragnarok in November brings together Thor, the Hulk, and Doctor Strange to face off against intergalactic baddies both familiar and new.”
Disney and Lucasfilm have dominated the holiday box office now for two straight years and it seems as if they will continue doing so in the future with their saga and spin-off Star Wars films. This according to MakingStarWars.net whose sources now claim that the Young Han Solo movie has been moved from May 25th 2018 to the new date of December 13th, 2018. The studios have yet to confirm the news but based on similar moves made by the Force Awakens and Rogue One, it seems a logical next step for the Mouse House. We now look forward to the next Saga film in Star Wars Episode 8, which is set for release this year on December 15th.

While the Han Solo movie is already well underway, many fans have been wondering (and hoping) that a solo Obi-Wan Kenobi movie will be one of the Star Wars Stories we’ll see on the big screen. Ewan McGregor has been very vocal about reprising his role as the Jedi master and now, according to Geek Tyrant who was visiting the Rebel Force Radio podcast this week, EW writer Anthony Breznican suggested that the reason a Kenobi movie hasn’t been announced is because Kathleen Kennedy and the rest of Lucasfilm are planning on incorporating him into the current trilogy in some way.
Many fans have wondered if Rogue One did well enough at the box office, would there be a chance for a sequel down the line? Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy just made it perfectly clear in Empire Magazine that it isn’t happening, even if Rogue One turns out to be a box office hit. Visual effects artist John Knoll also emphasized that Rogue One is and was always intended to be a self-contained film.

According to Deadline, Bradley Cooper is set to star in the historical action flick Atlantic Wall, with The Accountant director Gavin O’Connor at the helm. Atlantic Wall tells the story of an American paratrooper stranded behind enemy lines just days before the D-Day invasion. The film is slated to shoot in 2018 with plans to release sometime in 2019.
While it did take a while to get Matt Damon back into the Bourne franchise, the wait paid off as Jason Bourne took in $415 million worldwide. So the question now becomes: is there another movie in the Bourne franchise? Producer Frank Marshall addressed the question in a recent interview with Yahoo Movies UK.
Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for the upcoming sci-fi film Passengers. The trailer is a showcase for the original song by Imagine Dragons called “Levitate”, and does give a bit more footage from the movie, with a heavy focus on the romance between Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt. The movie is directed by The Imitation Game’s Morten Tyldum and will open on December 21st.

Film

Collider
A collider is a type of particle accelerator involving directed beams of particles. Colliders may either be ring accelerators or linear accelerators, and may collide a single beam of particles against a stationary target or two beams head-on.
Colliders are used as a research tool in particle physics by accelerating particles to very high kinetic energy and letting them impact other particles. Analysis of the byproducts of these collisions gives scientists good evidence of the structure of the subatomic world and the laws of nature governing it. These may become apparent only at high energies and for tiny periods of time, and therefore may be hard or impossible to study in other ways.
Explanation
In particle physics one gains knowledge about elementary particles by accelerating particles to very high kinetic energy and letting them impact on other particles. For sufficiently high energy, a reaction happens that transforms the particles into other particles. Detecting these products gives insight into the physics involved.

In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Jamie Foxx sat down to talk about his new role in the upcoming movie Sleepless when the interviewer asked about the status of the long in development Mike Tyson biopic he’s been attached to. Not only did Foxx confirm the movie, he also confirmed it as a “go” and that Martin Scorsese will be directing. Wolf of Wall Street writer Terence Winter is penning the script with a release date yet to be announced. OPENING THIS WEEK BUY OR SELL According to Deadline, Will Smith is circling the production of Tim Burton and Disney’s live action Dumbo remake. The trade reports that the studio is moving “aggressively” towards a production start with a script completed by Transformers: Age of Extinction’s Ehren Kruger. Sources for Variety add to Deadline’s report saying that Tom Hanks has also been offered the villain role in the movie but may instead take on the World War II drama The Grey Hound. Should Smith join the cast, he’d play the role of a father whose children fall in love with the title elephant at the circus. No release date for the movie has been set. Variety reports that Anna Kendrick is in talks to star in Disney’s female-led Santa Claus movie from Miss Congeniality scribe Marc Lawrence. Currently going by the title “Nicole,” the story revolves around Santa’s daughter who is forced to take over the family business when her father decides to retire and the brother ends up getting cold feet prior to his first big Christmas Eve flight. Lawrence penned the script and will direct the film. No release has been set. Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first trailer and poster for CHiPs, the R rated comedy remake based on the tv series that ran from 1977 to 1983. In CHiPs, Jon Baker, played by Dax Shepard and Frank “Ponch” Poncherello, played by Michael Peña, have just joined the California Highway Patrol in Los Angeles but for different reasons. Baker is a beaten up pro motorbiker trying to put his life back together while Poncherello is an undercover Federal agent investigating a multi-million dollar heist that may be an inside job. The movie is written and directed by Dax Shepard and is set for release on March 24th. Spider-Man star Tom Holland recently sat down with Italian magazine L’Uomo Vogue (via ComicBook.com), where he confirmed his part in the movie, saying Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans gave their personal stamp of approval in his casting - saying he could handle three Spider-Man films, including Avengers Infinity War. In their continuing coverage of Episode VIII as part of their must-see movies of 2017, USA Today revealed even more comments from writer-director Rian Johnson about his upcoming sequel to The Force Awakens. AMC REWIND BUY OR SELL The Producers Guild of America have announced their nominations for the Best Picture of 2016 and by far, the biggest surprise of the bunch was a nomination for 20th Century Fox’s wacky superhero action-comedy Deadpool. As for what it means for its newly invigorated Oscar chances, we’ll have to wait and see when the Oscar Nominations are announced on January 24th. Disney has released a new Cars 3 trailer, adding more plot and character info to the third movie in the franchise. Directed by Brian Fee Cars 3 tells the story of legendary Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) who is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez, with her own plan to win. Cars 3 features the return of Larry the Cable Guy as Mater, Bonnie Hunt as Sally Carrera, and Cheech Marin as Ramone. It’s set for release on June 16, 2017. The first trailer for Dark Night has hit online. The movie, loosely based on the Aurora, Colorado theatre shooting that happened during The Dark Knight Rises, debuted at last year’s Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews. The movie follows the activities of six strangers over the course of one day, from sunrise to midnight, with the shooter among them. It is directed by Memphis director Tim Sutton and is scheduled to hit theatres in a limited release on February 3rd. The other big winners included Casey Affleck for Manchester by the Sea, Isabelle Hupert for Elle, Viola Davis for best supporting acting in Fences, Aaron Taylor-Johnson for best supporting acting in Nocturnal Animals, Zootopia for best animated movie and Moonlight for best picture, drama. Warner Bros. has released a new Justice League image showing off Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woma, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, Ezra Miller’s the Flash and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman. The image comes via an exclusive release from USA Today, which listed Justice League in their new “must-see films of 2017.” The movie opens in theatres on November 17th. It’s Monday which means it’s time for the weekend box office report brought to you AMC theatres. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story barely took the No 1 spot at the box office over new release Hidden Figures. The first Star Wars Story took in $21.97 million dollars with Hidden Figures almost taking it from the Disney and Lucasfilm juggernaut with $21.8 million at No 2. Coming in at No 3 was Sing with $19.57 million. At No 4, the other weekend’s wide release, Underworld: Blood Wars, took in $13.1 million. And in the No 5 spot was La La Land, taking in $10 million as its domestic total climbs to $51.6 million. BUY OR SELL While doing the press rounds for Silence, Martin Scorsese revealed that his other long-gestating dream project, a biopic of Frank Sinatra, is no longer moving forward. Speaking with the Toronto Sun, the director seemed to suggest that the Sinatra estate and the family were not comfortable with him addressing certain issues in Sinatra’s life: “We can’t do it!…I think it is finally over. They (remaining members of the Sinatra clan) won’t agree to it. Open it up again and I’m there! Certain things are very difficult for a family, and I totally understand. But, if they expect me to be doing it, they can’t hold back certain things. The problem is that the man was so complex. Everybody is so complex—but Sinatra in particular.” THR reports that Keegan-Michael Key, best known for Comedy Central’s Key and Peele, is in final negotiations to join the cast of The Predator, Twentieth Century Fox’s reboot of the sci-fi action franchise directed by Shane Black. Boyd Holbrook is leading the cast of the movie in what is described as an ensemble cast that also includes Moonlight’s Trevante Rhodes and Olivia Munn. The movie is scheduled for release on February 9th, 2018. During a recent Reddit AMA, A Monster Calls and Jurassic World 2 director J.A. Bayona shared a story about his love for the original Superman movie and then, threw his name in for consideration to one day direct a movie about the Last Son of Krypton. Asked by a fan if the director had a dream film he’d like to work on, Bayona said: “The first memory I had was Christopher Reeve flying in the suit. Directing a Superman film would be great. I always wanted to be Superman. Rogue One took the No 1 spot for a third straight weekend at the box office, pulling in an estimated $50 million over three days and a projected $64 million for the four-day holiday. The first Star Wars Story has now made $425 million at the domestic box office, making it the second-highest grossing domestic release of 2016 behind Finding Dory. Sing took the No 2 spot for a second weekend in a row, pulling in $41.4 million and $53.7 over the four day. At No 3 was Passengers, which took in $16.1 million over the three-day weekend and $20.7 million over the four day. Moana took the No 4 spot with $10.15 million over three days and $13.5 million over the four-day weekend for a domestic total of $212 million. And in the No 5 spot was Denzel Washington’s Fences. After going wide last weekend, the Oscar hopeful took in $10.1 million over the three day weekend and an estimated $13 million over four days. BUY OR SELL Last week a report from the Wrap claimed Ryan Reynolds had filmed a cameo role as Deadpool in Logan that was allegedly shot by Deadpool 2 director David Leitch. Soon after, Hugh Jackman, director James Mangold and Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, took to Twitter to debunk the claim, with Mangold even going so far as to call out The Wrap with the hashtag #FakeNews. Later, however, THR’s film reporter Borys Kit tweeted that his sources said Deadpool is definitely not in the movie but not to rule out something else involving “Deadpool & Wolvie” in the future. The Wrap has since updated the report with Mangold’s responses. On Christmas day, 20th Century Fox unveiled the first red-band trailer for director Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant. Covenant finds Michael Fassbender reprising his role as the android David, who is now the sole inhabitant of an “uncharted paradise” which is visited by the crew of the colony ship Covenant. The film stars Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, and Danny McBride and opens in theaters on May 19th, 2017. It was back before the Thanksgiving holiday when Legendary closed a deal with the Frank Herbert estate for the rights to his iconic novel; which would grant the production company the rights to a new film as well as for TV-based projects . A release date for the new Dune movie has yet to be set. Lucasfilm made the gutsy move to craft an entire movie around a genuine suicide mission that actually ended in the deaths of all the major characters. But that wasn’t always the case. As Edwards revealed on the Empire podcast, the ending of Rogue One was significantly different early on in the development process and that the first version the main characters didn't die but everyone from Lucasfilm were on board for it. BUY OR SELL The first teaser trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi sequel Blade Runner 2049 landed well with fans of the series as well as generating interest from the casual movie-goer. Now, many fans are wondering if the sequel will retain a similar R rating as the first movie. According to a report from THR, Splendid Films have acquired the German rights to Expendables 4, the third sequel that was previously distributed by Lionsgate. The film is expected to begin development with a potential release date to be determined in 2018. In a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Martin Scorsese was talking about his latest movie Silence when talk turned to his next movie, The Irishman. Based on the Charles Brandt novel “I Heard You Paint Houses,” it was revealed that the movie would included Robert De Niro and Al Pacino playing both their younger and older selves. Scorsese then confirmed that he would utilize de-aging technology in order to pull this all off. A new trailer has been released for War on Everyone, the new movie from John Michael McDonagh that stars Alexander Skarsgard and Michael Pena. Skarsgard and Pena play Terry and Bob, crooked cops who try to blackmail and frame every criminal they encounter, but they uncover a larger conspiracy when they try and pull one over on a strip-club manager. As part of an official announcement from Warner Bros, Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor and Wonder Woman’s queen of the Amazon, Connie Nielsen, are officially joining the movie. They’ll appear with our main Justice Leaguers as well as alongside JK Simmons, Willem Dafoe, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Amber Heard and Ciaran Hinds. With this announcement also came a new EW image from Wonder Woman that shows Diana stealing the mystical Amazonian sword dubbed “god killer.” EW also says this is the very same weapon we saw her wield in Batman v Superman against Doomsday. Wonder Woman debuts in theaters on June 2, 2017 with Justice League hitting five months later on November 17th. EW revealed a new image from the upcoming War for the Planet of the Apes that also names a character that has a direct link to the original series. The concept art shows a peaceful moment between one of the apes and a human character revealed to be named Nova. Nova is the same character from the original Planet of the Apes, played by Linda Harrison opposite Charlton Heston. EW confirms the Nova in War for the Planet of the Apes is the same character thus offering up the strongest piece of connective tissue between this new franchise and the original. NEWS RUNDOWN 20th Century Fox is serious about reminding fans of its Alien series that we’re in for a bloody, R Rated film. The studio tweeted another image from Alien: Covenant, this one featuring some blood covered walls of a medical room, signaling some kind of alien attack or chest bursting escape. Michael Fassbender revealed on Josh Horowitz’s podcast happysadconfused, via a report from EW, that he met for a role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Fassbender offered no real specifics, nor did he reveal for what role he was up for; only that he did have a conversation with Lucasfilm but was too busy shooting another project at the time. The first teaser trailer for James Gray‘sThe Lost City of Z has been released. The movie is based on a true tale of British military man, Percy Fawcett, (Charlie Hunnam) who becomes an explorer in search of the lost city in the Amazon. The movie also stars Robert Pattinson and Tom Holland and will premiere on April 14th 2017. The as yet untitled Star Wars spin-off about Han Solo will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and is tentatively set for release on May 25th, 2018. In an interview with Variety, Ryan Reynolds revealed that he has an idea and outline for a Deadpool/Wolverine movie that he hopes to get Hugh Jackman involved with, even though Jackman is planning on hanging up the claws after his appearance in this March’s Logan. While speaking with the outlet, Reynolds said he would like to play Deadpool for as long as they would let me him, as well as saying he hopes he can convince Jackman to join up with him one last time as Wolverine. AMC REWIND BUY OR SELL A new TV spot has been released for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The 30 second spot offers up a few bits of new footage that feature a better look at Emma Watson and Dan Stevens Belle and the Beast. The movie is directed by Bill Condon and also stars Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Kevin Kline, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Ian McKellen, and Emma Thopmson. It is set to hit theatres on March 17th. A new action-heavy Russian trailer has been released for Wonder Woman. The Patty Jenkins-directed feature stars Gal Gadot and is the latest installment in Warner Bros.' DC Films Universe. The movie will hit theatres ahead of the highly anticipated Justice League on June 2nd, and also stars Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Lucy Davis, and Danny Huston. Back when James Gunn was casting the role of Star-Lord’s father in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, Matthew McConaughey’s name surfaced as one of the top choices for the part. Clearly that never happened as McConaughey passed on the role that eventually went to Kurt Russell. McConaughey recently shed some light on the reasons why during an interview with Playboy, in which the actor revealed that it came down to a choice between doing Guardians or The Dark Tower adaptation. The new official synopsis (kind of) has the answer. BUY OR SELL Disney and Marvel announced yesterday that The People v. O.J. Simpson’s Sterling K. Brown has been cast in Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther. The Golden Globe-nominated actor will take on the role of N’Jobu, a figure from Black Panther’s past. The movie stars Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther alongside Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger, Lupita Nyong’o’s Nakia and Angela Bassett as as T’Challa’s mother, Romonda. Black Panther is scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 16, 2018. At the press event for M. Night Shyamalan‘s Split, ComingSoon.net spoke with The Witch actress Anya Taylor-Joy where she revealed that she has seen the New Mutants animatic director Josh Boone created for the project. Taylor-Joy has long been rumored to be a part of the X-Men spin-off film, but stopped short of confirming her actual involvement. However, when pressed if she would look forward to reuniting with her Split co-star James McAvoy, Taylor-Joy did let slip that he is already a part of the movie. In advance of the 30th anniversary of Child’s Play next year, the horror film franchise centering on the iconic Chucky doll is about to bring the Good Guy back to life. Cult of Chucky, the seventh feature, will begin principal photography on January 9th in Winnipeg, Canada. To celebrate, EW released a short teaser trailer that works as a little catch up to all the past six movies. This according to MakingStarWars.net whose sources now claim that the Young Han Solo movie has been moved from May 25th 2018 to the new date of December 13th, 2018. The studios have yet to confirm the news but based on similar moves made by the Force Awakens and Rogue One, it seems a logical next step for the Mouse House. We now look forward to the next Saga film in Star Wars Episode 8, which is set for release this year on December 15th. Ewan McGregor has been very vocal about reprising his role as the Jedi master and now, according to Geek Tyrant who was visiting the Rebel Force Radio podcast this week, EW writer Anthony Breznican suggested that the reason a Kenobi movie hasn’t been announced is because Kathleen Kennedy and the rest of Lucasfilm are planning on incorporating him into the current trilogy in some way. Many fans have wondered if Rogue One did well enough at the box office, would there be a chance for a sequel down the line? Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy just made it perfectly clear in Empire Magazine that it isn’t happening, even if Rogue One turns out to be a box office hit. Visual effects artist John Knoll also emphasized that Rogue One is and was always intended to be a self-contained film. AMC REWIND BUY OR SELL According to Deadline, Bradley Cooper is set to star in the historical action flick Atlantic Wall, with The Accountant director Gavin O’Connor at the helm. Atlantic Wall tells the story of an American paratrooper stranded behind enemy lines just days before the D-Day invasion. The film is slated to shoot in 2018 with plans to release sometime in 2019. While it did take a while to get Matt Damon back into the Bourne franchise, the wait paid off as Jason Bourne took in $415 million worldwide. So the question now becomes: is there another movie in the Bourne franchise? Producer Frank Marshall addressed the question in a recent interview with Yahoo Movies UK. Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for the upcoming sci-fi film Passengers. The trailer is a showcase for the original song by Imagine Dragons called “Levitate”, and does give a bit more footage from the movie, with a heavy focus on the romance between Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt. The movie is directed by The Imitation Game’s Morten Tyldum and will open on December 21st. In an exclusive report from Variety, Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage is in early talks for a key role in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War. Since Infinity War is expected to shoot sometime in early summer, the actor’s schedule opened up since Game of Thrones moved from a summer to fall shoot. It is unknown at this time what role Dinklage will play or if it’s based on an existing character from the comic books. Infinity War is set for a May 4, 2018 release.
In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Jamie Foxx sat down to talk about his new role in the upcoming movie Sleepless when the interviewer asked about the status of the long in development Mike Tyson biopic he’s been attached to. Not only did Foxx confirm the movie, he also confirmed it as a “go” and that Martin Scorsese will be directing. Wolf of Wall Street writer Terence Winter is penning the script with a release date yet to be announced.

The trade reports that the studio is moving “aggressively” towards a production start with a script completed by Transformers: Age of Extinction’s Ehren Kruger. Sources for Variety add to Deadline’s report saying that Tom Hanks has also been offered the villain role in the movie but may instead take on the World War II drama The Grey Hound. Should Smith join the cast, he’d play the role of a father whose children fall in love with the title elephant at the circus. No release date for the movie has been set.
Variety reports that Anna Kendrick is in talks to star in Disney’s female-led Santa Claus movie from Miss Congeniality scribe Marc Lawrence. Currently going by the title “Nicole,” the story revolves around Santa’s daughter who is forced to take over the family business when her father decides to retire and the brother ends up getting cold feet prior to his first big Christmas Eve flight. Lawrence penned the script and will direct the film. No release has been set.
Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first trailer and poster for CHiPs, the R rated comedy remake based on the tv series that ran from 1977 to 1983. In CHiPs, Jon Baker, played by Dax Shepard and Frank “Ponch” Poncherello, played by Michael Peña, have just joined the California Highway Patrol in Los Angeles but for different reasons. Baker is a beaten up pro motorbiker trying to put his life back together while Poncherello is an undercover Federal agent investigating a multi-million dollar heist that may be an inside job. The movie is written and directed by Dax Shepard and is set for release on March 24th.

With the Avengers: Infinity War production beginning soon, it looks as though Marvel Studios won’t be able to keep the cast of the massive superhero sequel under wraps. Just as Zoe Saldana confirmed to MTV news that she will reprise her role as Gamora, one other future Avenger also confirmed their involvement: Spidey. Spider-Man star Tom Holland recently sat down with Italian magazine L’Uomo Vogue (via ComicBook.com), where he confirmed his part in the movie, saying Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans gave their personal stamp of approval in his casting - saying he could handle three Spider-Man films, including Avengers Infinity War. We’ll see for ourselves when it lands in theatres on May 4th, 2018.
In their continuing coverage of Episode VIII as part of their must-see movies of 2017, USA Today revealed even more comments from writer-director Rian Johnson about his upcoming sequel to The Force Awakens. First off, if you’re looking for a darker middle chapter a la Empire Strikes Back, you won’t find it with Episode VIII. Johnson said he wants the film to be a blast and to be funny the way The Force Awakens and the original Star Wars movies were. And in regards to the character of Luke Skywalker, fans who wanted more from the Jedi Master will be in luck with this film.

The Producers Guild of America have announced their nominations for the Best Picture of 2016 and by far, the biggest surprise of the bunch was a nomination for 20th Century Fox’s wacky superhero action-comedy Deadpool. As for what it means for its newly invigorated Oscar chances, we’ll have to wait and see when the Oscar Nominations are announced on January 24th.
Disney has released a new Cars 3 trailer, adding more plot and character info to the third movie in the franchise. Directed by Brian Fee Cars 3 tells the story of legendary Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) who is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez, with her own plan to win. Cars 3 features the return of Larry the Cable Guy as Mater, Bonnie Hunt as Sally Carrera, and Cheech Marin as Ramone. It’s set for release on June 16, 2017.
The first trailer for Dark Night has hit online. The movie, loosely based on the Aurora, Colorado theatre shooting that happened during The Dark Knight Rises, debuted at last year’s Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews. The movie follows the activities of six strangers over the course of one day, from sunrise to midnight, with the shooter among them. It is directed by Memphis director Tim Sutton and is scheduled to hit theatres in a limited release on February 3rd.

The 2017 Golden Globe Awards happened last night and the big winner was La La Land. Writer/director Damien Chazelle‘s original musical scored a clean sweep, winning Best Picture Musical or Comedy, Best Director, Best Actress for Emma Stone and Best Actor for Ryan Gosling. The other big winners included Casey Affleck for Manchester by the Sea, Isabelle Hupert for Elle, Viola Davis for best supporting acting in Fences, Aaron Taylor-Johnson for best supporting acting in Nocturnal Animals, Zootopia for best animated movie and Moonlight for best picture, drama.
Warner Bros. has released a new Justice League image showing off Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woma, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, Ezra Miller’s the Flash and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman. The image comes via an exclusive release from USA Today, which listed Justice League in their new “must-see films of 2017.” The movie opens in theatres on November 17th.
It’s Monday which means it’s time for the weekend box office report brought to you AMC theatres. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story barely took the No 1 spot at the box office over new release Hidden Figures. The first Star Wars Story took in $21.97 million dollars with Hidden Figures almost taking it from the Disney and Lucasfilm juggernaut with $21.8 million at No 2. Coming in at No 3 was Sing with $19.57 million. At No 4, the other weekend’s wide release, Underworld: Blood Wars, took in $13.1 million. While doing the press rounds for Silence, Martin Scorsese revealed that his other long-gestating dream project, a biopic of Frank Sinatra, is no longer moving forward. Speaking with the Toronto Sun, the director seemed to suggest that the Sinatra estate and the family were not comfortable with him addressing certain issues in Sinatra’s life:
“We can’t do it!…I think it is finally over. They (remaining members of the Sinatra clan) won’t agree to it. Open it up again and I’m there! Certain things are very difficult for a family, and I totally understand. But, if they expect me to be doing it, they can’t hold back certain things. The problem is that the man was so complex. Everybody is so complex—but Sinatra in particular.”
THR reports that Keegan-Michael Key, best known for Comedy Central’s Key and Peele, is in final negotiations to join the cast of The Predator, Twentieth Century Fox’s reboot of the sci-fi action franchise directed by Shane Black. Boyd Holbrook is leading the cast of the movie in what is described as an ensemble cast that also includes Moonlight’s Trevante Rhodes and Olivia Munn. The movie is scheduled for release on February 9th, 2018.

The 2017 Golden Globe Awards happened last night and the big winner was La La Land. Writer/director Damien Chazelle‘s original musical scored a clean sweep, winning Best Picture Musical or Comedy, Best Director, Best Actress for Emma Stone and Best Actor for Ryan Gosling. The other big winners included Casey Affleck for Manchester by the Sea, Isabelle Hupert for Elle, Viola Davis for best supporting acting in Fences, Aaron Taylor-Johnson for best supporting acting in Nocturnal Animals, Zootopia for best animated movie and Moonlight for best picture, drama.
Warner Bros. has released a new Justice League image showing off Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woma, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg, Ezra Miller’s the Flash and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman. The image comes via an exclusive release from USA Today, which listed Justice League in their new “must-see films of 2017.” The movie opens in theatres on November 17th.
It’s Monday which means it’s time for the weekend box office report brought to you AMC theatres. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story barely took the No 1 spot at the box office over new release Hidden Figures. The first Star Wars Story took in $21.97 million dollars with Hidden Figures almost taking it from the Disney and Lucasfilm juggernaut with $21.8 million at No 2. Coming in at No 3 was Sing with $19.57 million. At No 4, the other weekend’s wide release, Underworld: Blood Wars, took in $13.1 million. And in the No 5 spot was La La Land, taking in $10 million as its domestic total climbs to $51.6 million.

It was a tragic holiday season for fans of Carrie Fisher and her mother Debbie Reynolds. On December 27th, Carrie Fisher passed away after suffering a major heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles. One day later, her mother, Debbie Reynolds -- who rose to stardom in Singin' in the Rain and quickly became a staple among Hollywood – passed away as a result of a stroke. We here at Collider Video offer up our deepest condolences to Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds’ family, friends and fans.
In an extensive interview with Ben Affleck by The Guardian, the Oscar winner spoke about his career and his latest gangster era drama Live By Night when the conversation naturally turned to his next project, the standalone Batman movie which he is slated to direct. At least that’s if all goes according to plan.

Rogue One took the No 1 spot for a third straight weekend at the box office, pulling in an estimated $50 million over three days and a projected $64 million for the four-day holiday. The first Star Wars Story has now made $425 million at the domestic box office, making it the second-highest grossing domestic release of 2016 behind Finding Dory. Sing took the No 2 spot for a second weekend in a row, pulling in $41.4 million and $53.7 over the four day. At No 3 was Passengers, which took in $16.1 million over the three-day weekend and $20.7 million over the four day. Moana took the No 4 spot with $10.15 million over three days and $13.5 million over the four-day weekend for a domestic total of $212 million. And in the No 5 spot was Denzel Washington’s Fences. After going wide last weekend, the Oscar hopeful took in $10.1 million over the three day weekend and an estimated $13 million over four days.

Last week a report from the Wrap claimed Ryan Reynolds had filmed a cameo role as Deadpool in Logan that was allegedly shot by Deadpool 2 director David Leitch. Soon after, Hugh Jackman, director James Mangold and Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, took to Twitter to debunk the claim, with Mangold even going so far as to call out The Wrap with the hashtag #FakeNews. Later, however, THR’s film reporter Borys Kit tweeted that his sources said Deadpool is definitely not in the movie but not to rule out something else involving “Deadpool & Wolvie” in the future. The Wrap has since updated the report with Mangold’s responses.
On Christmas day, 20th Century Fox unveiled the first red-band trailer for director Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant. Covenant finds Michael Fassbender reprising his role as the android David, who is now the sole inhabitant of an “uncharted paradise” which is visited by the crew of the colony ship Covenant. The film stars Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, and Danny McBride and opens in theaters on May 19th, 2017.

According to an exclusive from Variety, Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 helmer Denis Villeneuve is in early talks to direct Legendary’s Dune reboot. It was back before the Thanksgiving holiday when Legendary closed a deal with the Frank Herbert estate for the rights to his iconic novel; which would grant the production company the rights to a new film as well as for TV-based projects . A release date for the new Dune movie has yet to be set.
Lucasfilm made the gutsy move to craft an entire movie around a genuine suicide mission that actually ended in the deaths of all the major characters. But that wasn’t always the case. As Edwards revealed on the Empire podcast, the ending of Rogue One was significantly different early on in the development process and that the first version the main characters didn't die but everyone from Lucasfilm were on board for it.

The first teaser trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi sequel Blade Runner 2049 landed well with fans of the series as well as generating interest from the casual movie-goer. Now, many fans are wondering if the sequel will retain a similar R rating as the first movie.
According to a report from THR, Splendid Films have acquired the German rights to Expendables 4, the third sequel that was previously distributed by Lionsgate. The film is expected to begin development with a potential release date to be determined in 2018.
In a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Martin Scorsese was talking about his latest movie Silence when talk turned to his next movie, The Irishman. Based on the Charles Brandt novel “I Heard You Paint Houses,” it was revealed that the movie would included Robert De Niro and Al Pacino playing both their younger and older selves. Scorsese then confirmed that he would utilize de-aging technology in order to pull this all off.
A new trailer has been released for War on Everyone, the new movie from John Michael McDonagh that stars Alexander Skarsgard and Michael Pena. Skarsgard and Pena play Terry and Bob, crooked cops who try to blackmail and frame every criminal they encounter, but they uncover a larger conspiracy when they try and pull one over on a strip-club manager. The movie is set for release on February 3rd, 2017.

In a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Martin Scorsese was talking about his latest movie Silence when talk turned to his next movie, The Irishman. Based on the Charles Brandt novel “I Heard You Paint Houses,” it was revealed that the movie would included Robert De Niro and Al Pacino playing both their younger and older selves. Scorsese then confirmed that he would utilize de-aging technology in order to pull this all off.
A new trailer has been released for War on Everyone, the new movie from John Michael McDonagh that stars Alexander Skarsgard and Michael Pena. Skarsgard and Pena play Terry and Bob, crooked cops who try to blackmail and frame every criminal they encounter, but they uncover a larger conspiracy when they try and pull one over on a strip-club manager. The movie is set for release on February 3rd, 2017.

Two familiar faces from the DCEU are back for Justice League. As part of an official announcement from Warner Bros, Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor and Wonder Woman’s queen of the Amazon, Connie Nielsen, are officially joining the movie. They’ll appear with our main Justice Leaguers as well as alongside JK Simmons, Willem Dafoe, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Amber Heard and Ciaran Hinds. With this announcement also came a new EW image from Wonder Woman that shows Diana stealing the mystical Amazonian sword dubbed “god killer.” EW also says this is the very same weapon we saw her wield in Batman v Superman against Doomsday. Wonder Woman debuts in theaters on June 2, 2017 with Justice League hitting five months later on November 17th.
EW revealed a new image from the upcoming War for the Planet of the Apes that also names a character that has a direct link to the original series. The concept art shows a peaceful moment between one of the apes and a human character revealed to be named Nova. Nova is the same character from the original Planet of the Apes, played by Linda Harrison opposite Charlton Heston. EW confirms the Nova in War for the Planet of the Apes is the same character thus offering up the strongest piece of connective tissue between this new franchise and the original.

20th Century Fox is serious about reminding fans of its Alien series that we’re in for a bloody, R Rated film. The studio tweeted another image from Alien: Covenant, this one featuring some blood covered walls of a medical room, signaling some kind of alien attack or chest bursting escape. We’ll have to wait to see what it all means when Alien: Covenent hits theatres on May 19th, 2017.
Michael Fassbender revealed on Josh Horowitz’s podcast happysadconfused, via a report from EW, that he met for a role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Fassbender offered no real specifics, nor did he reveal for what role he was up for; only that he did have a conversation with Lucasfilm but was too busy shooting another project at the time.
The first teaser trailer for James Gray‘sThe Lost City of Z has been released. The movie is based on a true tale of British military man, Percy Fawcett, (Charlie Hunnam) who becomes an explorer in search of the lost city in the Amazon. The movie also stars Robert Pattinson and Tom Holland and will premiere on April 14th 2017.

According to an exclusive report from Variety, Woody Harrelson is in early talks to play Han Solo’s mentor in the upcoming spin-off film starring Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, and Emilia Clarke. Variety’s sources say that Harrelson is Lucasfilm’s “top choice,” with executives wanting the role to go to an actor with considerable clout. The as yet untitled Star Wars spin-off about Han Solo will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and is tentatively set for release on May 25th, 2018.
In an interview with Variety, Ryan Reynolds revealed that he has an idea and outline for a Deadpool/Wolverine movie that he hopes to get Hugh Jackman involved with, even though Jackman is planning on hanging up the claws after his appearance in this March’s Logan. While speaking with the outlet, Reynolds said he would like to play Deadpool for as long as they would let me him, as well as saying he hopes he can convince Jackman to join up with him one last time as Wolverine.

A new TV spot has been released for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The 30 second spot offers up a few bits of new footage that feature a better look at Emma Watson and Dan Stevens Belle and the Beast. The movie is directed by Bill Condon and also stars Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Kevin Kline, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Ian McKellen, and Emma Thopmson. It is set to hit theatres on March 17th.
A new action-heavy Russian trailer has been released for Wonder Woman. The Patty Jenkins-directed feature stars Gal Gadot and is the latest installment in Warner Bros.' DC Films Universe. The movie will hit theatres ahead of the highly anticipated Justice League on June 2nd, and also stars Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Lucy Davis, and Danny Huston.
Back when James Gunn was casting the role of Star-Lord’s father in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, Matthew McConaughey’s name surfaced as one of the top choices for the part. Clearly that never happened as McConaughey passed on the role that eventually went to Kurt Russell. McConaughey recently shed some light on the reasons why during an interview with Playboy, in which the actor revealed that it came down to a choice between doing Guardians or The Dark Tower adaptation.

While fans are still mourning the tragic death of Carrie Fisher, the folks at Lucasfilm are faced with the monumental task of deciding how to proceed without Fisher’s General Leia. THR reports that her character was poised to have an even bigger role in Episode 9. Director Colin Trevorrow is due to arrive in Los Angeles next week to meet with Lucasfilm to decide how to proceed. On a lighter topic, a Utah based man created a petition to make Star Wars' Leia an official Disney princess. The petition asks the Walt Disney Corporation to hold a full ceremony inducting Leia as the newest Disney princess.
Marvel and Disney released the official synopsis for their upcoming Thor: Ragnarok. What We Do in the Shadows filmmaker Taika Waititi directs the sequel which finds Chris Hemsworth’s Thor sharing the screen with Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. How do the two characters come to be together? Disney and Marvel announced yesterday that The People v. O.J. Simpson’s Sterling K. Brown has been cast in Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther. The Golden Globe-nominated actor will take on the role of N’Jobu, a figure from Black Panther’s past. The movie stars Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther alongside Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger, Lupita Nyong’o’s Nakia and Angela Bassett as as T’Challa’s mother, Romonda. Black Panther is scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 16, 2018.
At the press event for M. Night Shyamalan‘s Split, ComingSoon.net spoke with The Witch actress Anya Taylor-Joy where she revealed that she has seen the New Mutants animatic director Josh Boone created for the project. Taylor-Joy has long been rumored to be a part of the X-Men spin-off film, but stopped short of confirming her actual involvement. However, when pressed if she would look forward to reuniting with her Split co-star James McAvoy, Taylor-Joy did let slip that he is already a part of the movie.
In advance of the 30th anniversary of Child’s Play next year, the horror film franchise centering on the iconic Chucky doll is about to bring the Good Guy back to life. Cult of Chucky, the seventh feature, will begin principal photography on January 9th in Winnipeg, Canada. To celebrate, EW released a short teaser trailer that works as a little catch up to all the past six movies. The film will pick up where 2013’s Curse of Chucky left off; with Nica Pierce confined in an asylum for the criminally insane. The movie will be released later this year, just in time for Halloween.
Entertainment Weekly revealed a new set of images and plot details for Pixar’s Cars 3. New director Brian Fee revealed the movie will find Owen Wilson’s Lightning McQueen discovering he’s not the young hotshot anymore as he goes wheel to wheel with new villain, and high-tech racer Jackson Storm; voiced by The Social Network’s Armie Hammer.

While fans are still mourning the tragic death of Carrie Fisher, the folks at Lucasfilm are faced with the monumental task of deciding how to proceed without Fisher’s General Leia. THR reports that her character was poised to have an even bigger role in Episode 9. Director Colin Trevorrow is due to arrive in Los Angeles next week to meet with Lucasfilm to decide how to proceed. On a lighter topic, a Utah based man created a petition to make Star Wars' Leia an official Disney princess. The petition asks the Walt Disney Corporation to hold a full ceremony inducting Leia as the newest Disney princess.
Marvel and Disney released the official synopsis for their upcoming Thor: Ragnarok. What We Do in the Shadows filmmaker Taika Waititi directs the sequel which finds Chris Hemsworth’s Thor sharing the screen with Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. How do the two characters come to be together? The new official synopsis (kind of) has the answer.

Disney and Marvel announced yesterday that The People v. O.J. Simpson’s Sterling K. Brown has been cast in Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther. The Golden Globe-nominated actor will take on the role of N’Jobu, a figure from Black Panther’s past. The movie stars Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther alongside Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger, Lupita Nyong’o’s Nakia and Angela Bassett as as T’Challa’s mother, Romonda. Black Panther is scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 16, 2018.
At the press event for M. Night Shyamalan‘s Split, ComingSoon.net spoke with The Witch actress Anya Taylor-Joy where she revealed that she has seen the New Mutants animatic director Josh Boone created for the project. Taylor-Joy has long been rumored to be a part of the X-Men spin-off film, but stopped short of confirming her actual involvement. However, when pressed if she would look forward to reuniting with her Split co-star James McAvoy, Taylor-Joy did let slip that he is already a part of the movie.
In advance of the 30th anniversary of Child’s Play next year, the horror film franchise centering on the iconic Chucky doll is about to bring the Good Guy back to life. Cult of Chucky, the seventh feature, will begin principal photography on January 9th in Winnipeg, Canada. To celebrate, EW released a short teaser trailer that works as a little catch up to all the past six movies. The film will pick up where 2013’s Curse of Chucky left off; with Nica Pierce confined in an asylum for the criminally insane. The movie will be released later this year, just in time for Halloween.
Entertainment Weekly revealed a new set of images and plot details for Pixar’s Cars 3. New director Brian Fee revealed the movie will find Owen Wilson’s Lightning McQueen discovering he’s not the young hotshot anymore as he goes wheel to wheel with new villain, and high-tech racer Jackson Storm; voiced by The Social Network’s Armie Hammer.

According to a report from Disney‘s official fan club D23, it has finally been confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange character will appear in Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok. The fan club previewed the Taika Waititi film in its 2017 update this past weekend where it was revealed by the following description: “Thor: Ragnarok in November brings together Thor, the Hulk, and Doctor Strange to face off against intergalactic baddies both familiar and new.”
Disney and Lucasfilm have dominated the holiday box office now for two straight years and it seems as if they will continue doing so in the future with their saga and spin-off Star Wars films. This according to MakingStarWars.net whose sources now claim that the Young Han Solo movie has been moved from May 25th 2018 to the new date of December 13th, 2018. The studios have yet to confirm the news but based on similar moves made by the Force Awakens and Rogue One, it seems a logical next step for the Mouse House. We now look forward to the next Saga film in Star Wars Episode 8, which is set for release this year on December 15th.

Underworld: Blood Wars - Death dealer Selene (Kate Beckinsale) must fend off brutal attacks from both the Lycan clan and the vampire faction that betrayed her. While the Han Solo movie is already well underway, many fans have been wondering (and hoping) that a solo Obi-Wan Kenobi movie will be one of the Star Wars Stories we’ll see on the big screen. Ewan McGregor has been very vocal about reprising his role as the Jedi master and now, according to Geek Tyrant who was visiting the Rebel Force Radio podcast this week, EW writer Anthony Breznican suggested that the reason a Kenobi movie hasn’t been announced is because Kathleen Kennedy and the rest of Lucasfilm are planning on incorporating him into the current trilogy in some way.
Many fans have wondered if Rogue One did well enough at the box office, would there be a chance for a sequel down the line? Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy just made it perfectly clear in Empire Magazine that it isn’t happening, even if Rogue One turns out to be a box office hit. Visual effects artist John Knoll also emphasized that Rogue One is and was always intended to be a self-contained film.

According to Deadline, Bradley Cooper is set to star in the historical action flick Atlantic Wall, with The Accountant director Gavin O’Connor at the helm. Atlantic Wall tells the story of an American paratrooper stranded behind enemy lines just days before the D-Day invasion. The film is slated to shoot in 2018 with plans to release sometime in 2019.
While it did take a while to get Matt Damon back into the Bourne franchise, the wait paid off as Jason Bourne took in $415 million worldwide. So the question now becomes: is there another movie in the Bourne franchise? Producer Frank Marshall addressed the question in a recent interview with Yahoo Movies UK.
Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for the upcoming sci-fi film Passengers. The trailer is a showcase for the original song by Imagine Dragons called “Levitate”, and does give a bit more footage from the movie, with a heavy focus on the romance between Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt. The movie is directed by The Imitation Game’s Morten Tyldum and will open on December 21st.
