The National Rugby League (NRL) is the top league of professional rugby league clubs in Australasia. Run by the Australian Rugby League Commission, the NRL's main competition is known as the Telstra Premiership due to sponsorship from Telstra Corporation and is contested by sixteen teams, fifteen of which are based in Australia with one based in New Zealand. It is regarded as the world's elite rugby league championship and, per season, is the most viewed and attended rugby league club competition in the world.
The National Rugby League is Australia's top-level domestic rugby-league club competition. It contains clubs from the original Sydney club Rugby League competition, which had been running continuously since 1908. The NRL formed in the aftermath of the 1990s' Super League war as a joint partnership between the Australian governing body, the Australian Rugby League (ARL) and media giant News Corporation-controlled Super League, after both organisations ran premierships parallel to each other in 1997. This partnership was dissolved in February 2012, with control of the NRL going to the independently formed Australian Rugby League Commission.
Channel 9 or TV 9 may refer to:
State of origin is the state or territory from which something originates. The name is also used in Australia for both small and larger sports events which generally involve domestic representative teams. The term, when used in isolation, usually refers to rugby league football, and occasionally Australian rules football matches, in which players are selected for the Australian states or territories where they either first played (hence the name 'state of origin') or played the majority of their senior football. The concept mirrors international representative rules in other sports. The annual State of Origin series is now one of Australia's most popular sporting events.
It was devised to address the drift of most talented Australian rules players to the Victorian Football League (VFL) and the effect that this had on interstate matches. A similar situation existed in regard to the New South Wales Rugby League which attracted the best players from the Queensland Rugby League because of its far stronger and financially attractive competition. The latter was due to the increased funds of the New South Wales clubs, due to poker machines, which Queensland laws prohibited.
A knight (/naɪt/) is a person granted an honorary title of knighthood by a monarch or other political leader for service to the Monarch or country, especially in a military capacity. Historically, in Europe, knighthood has been conferred upon mounted warriors. During the High Middle Ages, knighthood was considered a class of lower nobility. By the Late Middle Ages, the rank had become associated with the ideals of chivalry, a code of conduct for the perfect courtly Christian warrior. Often, a knight was a vassal who served as a fighter for a lord, with payment in the form of land holdings. The lords trusted the knights, who were skilled in battle on horseback. Since the early modern period, the title of knight is purely honorific, usually bestowed by a monarch, as in the British honours system, often for non-military service to the country. The modern female equivalent is Dame.
Matt Gillett (born 12 August 1988), is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who currently plays for the Brisbane Broncos of the NRL. A Queensland State of Origin and Australia national representative back-rower, he has played his entire NRL career to date with the Broncos.
Gillet was born in Macksville, New South Wales and moved with his family to Bribie Island, Queensland at the age of three years. He played his junior football for the Bribie Island Warrigals and Morayfield State High School. In 2008 Gillett started the year with the West Arana Hills club, then half way through the year Gillett joined the Brisbane Broncos Under-20s team where he played several games. In 2009 Gillett played for the Norths Devils in the Queensland Cup. He won Queensland cup Rookie of the Year. Also played in the Queensland cup game of City Vs Country in which Gillett played for Queensland City in that game.
After Gillett's impressive year in the Queensland Cup, Brisbane Broncos head coach Ivan Henjak rewarded Gillett with a preseason in 2010. Gillett made his NRL debut for the Brisbane Broncos in Round 1 2010 NRL season opener against the North Queensland Cowboys off the interchange bench in which Gillett scored a try on debut in the Broncos 30-24 win at Suncorp Stadium. On 23 June 2010, Gillett extended his contract with the Brisbane Broncos for a further three-years, keeping him at the NRL club until 2013. On 8 September 2010, Gillett won the 2010 Rookie of the Year Award at the 2010 Dally M Awards presentations. Gillett finished his NRL debut year with him playing in 21 matches and scoring 12 tries. Gillett was named the 2010 Brisbane Broncos season's rookie of the year. In September 2010, Gillett was selected for the Prime Minister's XIII and played in the 30-18 win over Papua New Guinea.

The win was classic Sharks – gritty, rarely pretty, but marked by a refusal to back down and an uncanny ability to find points when they needed them as Souths threatened to come home over the top of their opponents in the second half. The loss officially puts an end to the Rabbitohs finals hopes – even six straight wins from here is unlikely to earn a finals berth – while the result steadied the ship for the premiers after a horror loss on the Gold Coast last week and returns them to the top four, at least temporarily. Tireless Souths back-row...

Newcastle were more than holding their own until a sickening collision saw winger Chanel Mata'utia forced from the field in the 57th minute after he collected a stray forearm to the head when trying to tackle Roosters counterpart Blake Ferguson in a play that left him momentarily motionless. As his brothers watched on, Chanel was able to sit up and was carted off on the medi-cab to a standing ovation from the crowd but the Knights never recovered with the home side piling on 18-unanswered points to temporarily join the Storm ...

Two tries in the final four minutes of the first half gave Brisbane a 16-6 advantage but the key period was between the 53rd and 68th minutes when the Bulldogs' only touch of the football was Josh Reynolds spilling an Anthony Milford kick from point-blank range as the Broncos piled on 18 points to take complete control of the contest. The Bulldogs bravely defended their line for the first 10 minutes of the second half and conceded just the one penalty goal but conse...

SUBSCRIBE! http://www.youtube.com/user/footytubenrl?sub_confirmation=1 It was a night to farewell a legend but the Maroons have uncovered Johnathan Thurston's heir apparent after Cameron Munster's stunning State of Origin debut in Queensland's 22-6 Game Three win at Suncorp Stadium. Played in front of a ground record of 52,540 predominantly Queensland fans Munster was involved heavily from the outset, Storm teammates Cameron Smith and Cooper Cronk showing great faith to bring their new five-eighth into the play at every opportunity. Queensland had never handed a half an Origin debut in a Game Three decider in 35 years of three-match series but any concerns the Rockhampton product would shy away from the occasion were almost immediately dispelled. It was Munster's pass that created the ...

Three straight tries either side of half-time put the unfancied Tigers in the lead with just over 20 minutes to go in the contest but Cherry-Evans – who was responsible for Manly's fast two-try start to the game – reasserted control along with young stars Jake and Tom Trbojevic to seal the result that shores up the club's top-four billing with seven rounds to play. For the determined Tigers, for 60 minutes it was arguably as good as they've played since coach Ivan Cleary took over earlier in the year with Blues stars Aaron Woods and...
SUBSCRIBE! http://www.youtube.com/user/footytubenrl?sub_confirmation=1 Brisbane prop Korbin Sims has come back to haunt his old side, scoring a decisive second-half try as the Broncos beat a spirited Newcastle Knights outfit 34-22 at McDonald Jones Stadium. The former Knight slammed the ball down in the 70th minute in a fiery contest as the Broncos survived a scare against the bottom-placed hosts despite missing several key players. Wayne Bennett's decision to rest State of Origin pair Josh McGuire and Matt Gillett took time for the Broncos to adjust early, however the power game of Sims, Alex Glenn and Sam Thaiday late in the contest proved too much for the inexperienced Knights. Potential Newcastle recruit Tautau Moga was also enormous for the visitors with two line breaks in a 17...

Jumping out to a commanding 16-0 lead midway through the first half, the Eels claimed the valuable two competition points to re-establish a four-point buffer within the top eight and ignite their finals dream. Sans skipper Cameron Smith, Cooper Cronk, Billy Slater, Will Chambers, Tim Glasby and Cameron Munster, Melbourne fought admirably but missed their experienced leaders as the visitors took advantage of the vulnerable home side and forced them to work off their own try line all match long. The Eels seized a dominating 16-6 half-time lead after ca...
I saw you dance in the flames,
But somehow you walked out unscathed.
Slip down your way through the minefield,
By a foot and slit Achilles' heels.
Kissing curves and time bombs
Blowing your mind without going off.
Of nine, you got one life left to go.
This time you won't need to worry at all.
Cause this is your surefire shot, don't miss.
Under the gun, but for once on the other side of it.
Taking now what you want and it's yours...
for the taking.
Like a war won without waging.
Just when I thought that your luck was spent,
You dodge another bullet.
Count your blessings, even those are second guessing.
Cause of nine there's one life left to go.
This time you won't need to worry at all
Cause this is your surefire shot, don't miss.
Under the gun, but for once on the other side of it.
Taking now what you want.
It's your surefire shot, don't miss
Under the gun, but for once you're a force to be reckoned with.
Taking now what you want and it's yours.
Knocked down the odds stacked against you.
Before you sound off that surrender,
Size up the forces against you
Before you drop down to your knees.
Believe me, I can say with certainty.
Cause this is your surefire shot, don't miss.
Under the gun, but for once on the other side of it.
Taking now what you want.
It's your surefire shot, don't miss
Under the gun, but for once you're a force to be reckoned with.
Taking now what you want (believe me)
