http://www.nomadcapitalist.com Andrew from Nomad Capitalist is on Serendipity Beach in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, talking about cheap and easy business opportunities in this beach resort. Andrew shares just how easy it is to open a business in Cambodia, and how you can start a business on the cheap in places like Sihanoukville. A low cost of living, low cost of labor, and growing tourist market make it possible to start even a basic business like a restaurant, bar, or guest house. Tourism in Cambodia is growing. More and more people are realizing that the travel warnings about Cambodia are not true, and that Cambodia is by and large a very safe country. As an emerging frontier market, Cambodia offers a lot of business opportunities for those who arrive early. Unlike in the west, you don...

Volumes of research around the world have shown that orphanage care is associated with long-term psychological concerns. While walking around Siem Reap last year i noticed some large typography painted on a wall near the city centre "GREEN IS REVOLUTION" it was an advertisement for a bag production workshop and i decided to pay them a visit. I sat down with Diana who founded Bloom in 2006. We spoke about 'progress' in Cambodia and what this means in a developing country which receives a lot of foreign aid. Diana talks about the importance of how we spend our money and the people behind the product, explaining the reason behind the people she choses to employ, and the struggles they face in the free market. In the context of the recent garment workers protests in Cambodia, i think its obvious that people need to think more about what they are consuming and where the product is coming from, how are the wo...

We went to Cambodia for a Corporate project with Exceed. Our work was to cover their school, clinic and clients. But what we found out about this institution touched our hearts. So I decided to make a documentary film to inspire other people just as they have inspired me. As a result of war in Cambodia, many suffered amputations from land mine injuries. Exceed provides Free Prosthesis(leg replacement) and Orthosis(brace) to the victims, Including those who have polio and congenital diseases. Aside from this, they also support them with their studies and provide their families with a business so they will have a source of income to support their family. We visited their clients in their own communities. I saw how hard life could be. But these people did not give up, they continued to fight...

Culture can be reflected through different objects such as art, cloth, religion, language...etc. Food is also an important symbol for culture. Food and ways of eating are different from country to country, and it is interesting to taste different kinds of food from countries around the world, isn't it? This video clip is about food, especially Japanese and Khmer. You might probably have heard that Japanese eat raw fish or Sushi and Sashimi as it is called. This video also shows some kinds it. As most of us do not have tradition of eating raw fish, we might think it is practically impossible. But Sushi or Sashimi are both tasty and healthy. The first video clip presents a situation in a typical Sushi restaurant in Japan where you can try different kinds of Sushi. Then you will see som...

Cambodia has made great strides in health care. Maternal and child mortality have been vastly reduced and more healthcare facilities are now available throughout the country. The picture was very different 20 years ago when gaining access to affordable health services were huge obstacles for the poorest and most remote villages. Here we follow the story of Yav Neang, a mother from a remote Cambodian village, who needed help for her sick 8-month old baby. Through the Health Equity Fund, she and her baby are among the 3 million Cambodians who now have access to better and affordable health care, ensuring that they get quality care when they’re sick.
the topic is going to discuss is related to health sector. How to promote public health's quality and service so as to meet citizen's expectation.

Millions of dollars earmarked for healthcare in Cambodia go missing every year throughy corruption, leaving many sick people without the help they desperately need. Corruption eats away funding at the top with little left for care at the grassroots of the healthcare system. Al Jazeera's Marga Ortigas reports from Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The Chakrey Health Center is one of the 18 health centers constructed through the World Bank's Health Sector Support Project. More than 90% of pregnant women in the eight villages covered come to deliver their babies at the center. The center charges a standard fee of 20,000 riel (US$4.80) per delivery but poor farmers are charged only half price, and the very poorest sometimes get the service for free.

To his friends he’s known as Moly. To a growing number of admirers, he’s a living legend. But to many in his native Cambodia, Vann Molyvann is anonymous, his designs a throwback to a long ago time that has little to do with modern Cambodia. With The Man Who Built Cambodia we want to shine a light on this amazing architect to show just how ingenious and ahead-of-their-time his designs were, and to reflect on how the neglect and destruction of his work in recent years relates to development in Cambodia today. Vann Molyvann was plucked from relative obscurity in the 1950s by King Norodom Sihanouk, the charismatic monarch who steered Cambodia into independence after nearly a century of French rule. The King wanted an architect who could help him build a proud, new architecture, for a pro...

Caring for Poor and Orphaned Children was founded by Kim Ny and Ed Schroll in January 2012 to help poor and orphaned children and their families in Cambodia. Mr Kim and his colleagues are wonderful people which dedicated their lives to support the children and families in some of the villages around Phnom Phen. They do everything in their power to provide good health and education for the needy kids. If you traveling in Cambodia, or in one of the surrounding countries and if you sick of partying and drinking, try to find a few spare days to spent time with Mr. Kim and his people. Many Asian men believe that having sex with a virgin will bring them health and luck. From a more practical point of view, they will not contract HIV from a virgin. The men know that virginity can be faked; there is therefore a huge demand for younger and younger girls, so that clients can be certain of their virginity. A 13 year old girl from the Cambodian countryside can be sold for as much as $1,200. Once her virginity has been taken, she is sold on to brothels, in different parts of Cambodia or over the border in Thailand. Once in the brothel, she is at high risk of disease, and if she manages to escape, faces imprisonment in Thailand, or scorn and rejection back home. Through intimate and revealing interviews, men explain why sex with virgins is so important to them. We hear the stor...
Small Steps Project helps the children and families living in desperately poor and inhumane conditions on and around the world's numerous inhabited landfill sites. The project provides shoes to protect against the syringes, glass, metal and toxic waste through which these families wade daily, searching for items they can recycle for an average wage of 50p a day. Our aim is to supply children and families with the things that will prolong their survival, from shoes and clothes, to water and food, to hygiene packs and medical care. We work together with established NGOs and local charities to provide ongoing care for the children, be it educational, social, medical or all of the above. Our aim is to get children to take small steps off the rubbish dumps, into school and out of poverty. Ea...

'Cambodia: The Virginity Trade' is the compelling and utterly alarming account of the lives of girls and women affected by the virginity trade that exists in Cambodia today. Many Asian men believe that obtaining a virgin girl for sex will grant them extra health and luck. Subsequently, there is a huge demand for young Cambodian girls, and a virgin girl can be worth as much as twelve hundred dollars. Some families even sell their own daughters to brokers as they are too poor to feed them and the lure of the money on offer is too much to refuse. Each interview in ‘Cambodia: The Virginity Trade’ is an intimate and frank account of the complexities of this terrible problem, which has become ingrained in Khmer culture. Mothers explain why they are driven to sell their daughters, the Cambodian ...

Towering Monument to Hindu God Vishnu Angkor Wat, Cambodia (1113 - 1145 CE) Hidden deep in the impenetrable jungle of Cambodia, the mighty temple of Angkor Wat is a humbling representation of the Hindu universe. A usurper king who seizes the throne by murdering his great uncle, King Suryavarman II seeks to justify his absolute power over the enormous Khmer Empire with a towering monument to Hindu god Vishnu. Angkor Wat will also serve as the new king's personal mausoleum, and be his personal heaven for the afterlife. Suryavarman's vision is one of staggering ambition. The largest of the five huge towers soars 65 meters into the sky, surrounded by a network of concentric courtyards, causeways and outbuildings, all guarded by an enormous 200 meter wide moat. Experts estimate workers must c...
Location: Angkor Wat, Siem Reap, Cambodia. This morning we woke up at 4 a.m. to see the sunrise at Angkor Wat. It was OK... To be completely honest, I think there are much better ways to spend your morning exploring the Angkor Temple complex. Sunrise at Angkor Wat is OVERRUN by tourist. Yes, we did contribute to the problem, but that's beside the point. When we showed up to Angkor Wat at 5 a.m. there were already TONS of people there. We weren't even able to get a seat on the far side of the pond. By the time the sun was rising, there were over 2,000 people watching the sunrise with us. The crowds were almost more impressive than the sunrise. Don't get me wrong, the sunrise over Angkor Wat is beautiful, but so is everything else at the Angkor Temple complex. I would suggest getting up ...

Construction of this elaborate temple complex - built in honour of the god Vishnu - began in AD 879 during the reign of King Suryavarman II and was completed in 1191. It lay concealed for many years, however, until the site was discovered by Frenchman Henri Mahout in 1860. The central complex, Angkor Wat, features an elaborate, unmortared 66-metre (215-foot) central tower surrounded by four s...

✱ 1.836 Hotels in Cambodia - Lowest Price Guarantee ► http://goo.gl/q1Tc0g Travel video about destination Cambodia. The kingdom of Cambodia is one of three nations within Indochina. A fertile country with a friendly population that appears to have forgotten its recent dramatic history that comprised French colonial times, Vietnamese occupation and the cruel rule of the Khmer Rouge. The former palaces of the gods have now been transformed into tourist attractions and regal splendour and shining pagodas indicate that a new era has begun. Phnom Penh is the reawakened capital of Cambodia and former Land of the Khmer. It is a wonderful city with all the charm of a bygone age. During the second half of the nineteenth century Phnom Penh became a French colonial town with wide streets, shops, gove...
With Siem Reap and the famous Angkor temples that were built here between the 9th and 15th centuries, Cambodia has one of the greatest tourist attractions anywhere in the world. Covering some 400sqks, the UNESCO World Heritage Angkor Archiological Park is home to scores of temples, canals, bridges and gateways. The most famous temple is Angkor Wat, built during the first half of the 12th century and today receives more than 2 million visitors a year. Best seen at dawn before the crowds arrive and as the sun turns the east face pink, it is a truly incredible site. Ta Prohm is famous for the temple strangling trees that seem to devour the ancient structures and my own favourite is the beautiful Angkor Thom, or Bayon Temple, with its serene collection of exquisitely carved faces. With so m...

Few countries have left more of an impression upon me than Cambodia. I've now visited four times and each and every time I had a completely different experience. I learned what I loved and what I disliked about the country. In particular, I became fond of cities such as Siem Reap and Battambang whereas I found Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville to be less appealing. The shining star attraction I could never get enough of was the Temples of Angkor. Cambodia is a country with a tragic past; however, the future appears to be brighter as it becomes more frequented by tourists every year. Cambodia is a popular vacation and tourist spot, and getting more well-known. It's for good reason. Cambodia is a tropical yet gritty getaway and one that can be enjoyed by anyone. It was obvious to me when I was there that many other nations share the same opinion. I noticed so many different languages there, it seems like everyone is trying to get in on the action. Of the many things to do in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh, there are some that deserve to highlighted. Here is my list of activities you don't want to miss if you visit Cambodia. About a month ago, my sister Anna and cousin Carla decided to go on a spontaneous four day back packing trip to Siem Reap, Cambodia. It was easily one of our best trips yet. In a country similar yet so culturally different from ours, we felt right at home. Discovering a new place like Siem Reap was so interesting for all of us. Learning their sad but beautiful history written all over the walls of their incredibly built temples, one will appreciate not only their temples but the people behind their culture that makes this place so... unique! As Camps International are opening a new camp in Cambodia i was sent there for 4 days after completing the Borneo trip. My mission was to travel from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh filming in a variety of locations from the Angkor Wat, Tonle Sap (largest lake in South East Asia) to the Killing Fields, S21 and the new community camp at Beng Mealea. The country was incredible filled with fascinating but disturbing history, amazing temples and the warmest and friendliest people you could imagine. The filming was very hectic and we were rushed around with our guide with the feeling that our feet never touched the ground. This trailer is a snap shot of what Cambodia is like and what you can expect to see on your travels there.

License Video: http://dissolve.com/products?media_type=video&producer;=Pete+R&sort;_by_date=true Updated: Made the video a little more concise and the music a little bit more interesting and not repetitive. Take a deep breath and go on a journey around South East Asia through leech-infested jungles, abandoned temples, and colorful coral reefs. It was a 2 months trip that gone by so fast, like taking one deep breath. This is no ordinary "inspiring" travel video. For this, I decided to go with a much more fun and action-packed style instead of the usual go-to "inspirational" travel style that I like to do.. and a delicious "disco" music. Everything is better with disco music. :) I also experimented on many ways of shooting and framing and I think most of the footages came out really well. ...
