A growth hormone for children with dwarfism and cancer treatments delivered to Ukrainian patients

A large batch of medicines for cancer patients and a growth hormone for children under the age of ten have been delivered to Ukraine. The growth hormone will help 837 children who suffer from dwarfism of different origins. The medicine, manufactured in Belgium, was procured by the United Nations Development Program within the framework of international procurement of medicines for budget funds of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

UNDP is launching a call for applications for organizational development grants available for regional mid-sized civil society organizations (CSOs). The purpose of this programme is to establish a network of regional capacity building hubs for CSO development. What Ukrainians Know and Think of Human Rights: UNDP in Ukraine Launches Human Rights Baseline Study

One of the revealing results of the recent Ukrainian Human Rights Baseline Study was that 77% of Ukrainians recognize the right to life as the most important human right. The study also shows that most Ukrainians recognize rights for social security and the right to housing and education as key priorities. At the same time, while the majority of citizens are aware that their rights are natural and in-born, many are still reluctant to defend them, and half of the population has never tried to do it.

New place for recreation in summer: UNDP restores water reservoir in Chernihiv oblast

A water reservoir, historically used for recreational purposes by local people, has been renovated and opened for leisure visitors in Kukshun village in the Chernihiv Oblast. With funding from the Coca-Cola Foundation and in the framework of “Creation of model for community sustainable development at Nizhyn rayon, Chernihiv oblast” project, UNDP has restored this water reservoir - measuring four metres in depth, thirty metres in width and three hundred metres in length.

Ukrainians receive first medicines against botulism since 2014

Shipment of the required medicine against botulism was delivered to Ukraine today. First 25 schemes to form the essential stock of the antitoxin produced in Canada were provided by the United Nations Development Program. UNDP supported the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and provided antitoxin against botulism worth 2,5 mln Hryvnia as humanitarian aid.

Business grants contest is open for IDPs and Donbas’ local residents

UNDP has launched the new business grants contest for internally displaced people and local residents of Donetsk and Luhansk regions to support entrepreneurship and small businesses in Donbas. Application for grants is open to IDPs residing in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts as well as to local populations of these regions until 3 August 2017.

Peatlands turned into park: New bicycle path opens in Chernihiv Oblast

UNDP opens a bicycle path at Regional Landscape Park “Nizhynskiy”, encouraging Ukrainians to use bicycles in their daily life and taking care of the environment. The cycle path is ten and a half kilometers long route across different landscapes, including around five kilometers of dirt road and six kilometers of forestry road. The route is also equipped with informational boards, pointers and pavilions for rest during the trip along the road.
