Central Florida
Central Florida is a region of the U.S. state of Florida. Different sources give different definitions for the region, but as its name implies it is usually said to comprise the central part of the state, including the Tampa Bay and Orlando area. It is one of Florida's three best known "directional" regions, along with North Florida and South Florida.
Geography
Like many vernacular regions, Central Florida's boundaries are not official or consistent, and are defined differently by different sources. A 2007 study of Florida's regions by geographers Ary Lamme and Raymond K. Oldakowski found that Floridians surveyed identified Central Florida as comprising a large swath of peninsular Florida. This area encompassed the interior, including the Orlando metropolitan area, and coastal stretches from the Big Bend south to the Tampa Bay Area in the west and from Daytona Beach south to Martin County in the east. In addition, North Central Florida has emerged as a vernacular region representing the interior area in the northern part of the state.

Florida
Florida 
i/ˈflɒrɪdə/ (Spanish for "flowery land") is a state located in the southeastern region of the United States. The state is bordered to the west by the Gulf of Mexico, to the north by Alabama and Georgia, to the east by the Atlantic Ocean, and to the south by the Straits of Florida and the country of Cuba. Florida is the 22nd most extensive, the 3rd most populous, and the 8th most densely populated of the United States. Jacksonville is the most populous city in Florida, and the largest city by area in the contiguous United States. The Miami metropolitan area is the eighth-largest metropolitan area in the United States. Tallahassee is the state capital.
A peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida, it has the longest coastline in the contiguous United States, approximately 1,350 miles (2,170 km), and is the only state that borders both the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Much of the state is at or near sea level and is characterized by sedimentary soil. The climate varies from subtropical in the north to tropical in the south. The American alligator, American crocodile, Florida panther, and manatee can be found in the Everglades National Park.

The Metro-Dade Cultural Center is situated Downtown where several Spanish-style buildings surround a large plaza that is decorated with colourful and contemporary works of art. The Florida Keys are a group of thirty one coral islands that extend from Miami on the southern point of Florida, to the Caribbean, the first and largest of which is Key Largo that was made famous by a Hollywood movie of the same name. Bonita Springs with its Everglades Wonder Gardens is situated north west of Miami close to the Gulf Of Mexico and features the animals of the Everglades. This wildlife refuge was created in 1936 and was later enlarged with botanical gardens and further animals from all over the world. On the east coast of the Florida Peninsula, Cape Canaveral juts out into the Atlantic. As far back as 1949 the ‘Rocket Trials Zone’, as it was then known, was built here, an area that has been further developed and extended to become the world famous Space Station that it is today. Today Fort Lauderdale is a popular residential area located on the south Atlantic coast where its harbour and sandy beaches are situated in front of newly built skyscrapers. If there was ever a city dedicated to enjoyment, then Orlando is it. Even the most cursory drive through the city will tell you one thing: there is no disguising the fact Orlando is a city built on theme parks. Lots of them. Strange to think that until 1966, though, there was precious little here in central Florida. A few roadside attractions aside, it was one man, Walt Disney, who really changed the scenery here. No matter which way you slice it, growth has spiralled thanks to a huge influx of tourists that followed the arrival of Walt Disney World Resort.
Almost all of Florida's cities and resorts are based around its long coastline, naturally capitalising on the beaches or swampland national parks that attract so many international visitors. Orlando is the only real exception, a strange, idiosyncratic place in the middle of the Floridian wasteland, and coincidentally one of the most famous resort towns in the world.
There are conflicting legends as to how the city of Orlando came by its name, from heroic soldiers to local cattle ranchers to a nod to Shakespeare. Whatever the case may be, some 47 million tourists a year come to see the place for themselves.
From the original Magic Kingdom, which opened in 1971, the colossal Disney empire has added three more theme parks, two water parks and a host of associated developments, including hotels, shops and golf courses to make it a true 'World' resort.
With Disney setting the example, SeaWorld (three theme parks) and Universal (two) have added to Orlando's reputation as the family entertainment capital of the world. Between them, they draw nearly 50 million visitors every year, and that has meant a huge growth in associated hotels, restaurants and shops, plus a host of smaller-scale attractions.
However, this young city has also developed its own identity that stretches beyond the wearing of plastic mouse ears and thrill rides. There are a significant number of high-tech industries relocating here, and the downtown area is fast developing yuppie overtones. There are even ambitious plans to become a major cultural centre. Orlando is also the USA's number two convention location; the attraction for incentive activities for competing sales teams is no mystery.
There has been a stab at giving the city some historic context with the promotion of 'Old Orlando', which is part of Downtown, encompassing Orange Avenue and Garland Avenue. There's also a historic district around Lake Eola, with brick streets lined with old oak trees. Some of the homes here may have been originally built by the wealthy citrus traders of the late 19th century.
Having said that, the main attraction for 99% of visitors remains the theme parks, together with the likes of the nearby Kennedy Space Center. There are also some charming, retro-looking former roadside attractions such as Gatorland that have survived as lucrative sidelines to the more high-tech main attractions. And, in order to attract the all-important repeat visitors, Orlando has become adept at re-inventing itself and providing new attractions at regular intervals.

July 12th, 2017 -- For my 83rd fishing session of this year, and my second day down in Orlando, FL, I met with Finna Fish (a.k.a. Pierce Sanders) for some extreme Micro-Fishing!!!
We hit the wet lands in Orlando for some tiny native, and exotic Species of fish! Many many thanks to Pierce for putting me on some new Species for my list! He is truly a wonderful multi-species and micro angler.

Next time you make a trip to Orlando Florida to one of the theme parks; take time to schedule a visit with the Central Florida Railroad Modelers. In our 2000 sq. ft. clubhouse located near the intersection of Silver Star Road and North John Young Parkway Orlando, Florida, we operate HO scale models on 1500' of dual mainline code 83 track. Our layout has a fully operational prototypical signaling system powered by Digitrax with a custom made CTC system that is used for operational running. On the second Saturday of every month the club runs operating sessions using our custom made CTC and signaling system. The club maintains its own inventory of rolling stock for operating sessions, however, members are encouraged to bring in their own power for operating sessions. Guests and prospective members are always welcome.
Paul "Grumpy" Harris invited members of Northeast Florida Model Railroaders to run equipment and shoot videos of the detailed layout. This video doesn't do enough justice for this extremely exquisitely detailed club layout. When you visit, take time to peep inside windows of the meat packing company. Inside is finely detailed action of workers meat packing the angus beef. Look inside the main union station passenger terminal. Central Florida Railroad Modelers hand crafted a custom chandelier clearly visible from the station's massive pane windows. Inside are busy, bustling passengers rushing from train platforms to ticketing booths. Take a visit to one of the side streets and look inside the billiard parlor. Inside you'll watch pool sharks place bets and run pool tables against unsuspecting amateurs. Next door to the billiard hall you'll get to shop for brand new home appliances such as Whirl Pool and Maytag. The appliance salesman courtesy demonstrates an appliance to a married couple who just purchased their new home. This detail isn't captured with this video. We ran out of time for the day and weren't able to provide macro views of other exquisite fine detailing. This layout can only be appreciated from an in person visit. The camera used to create the cab ride effects and the overall video is a Sony High Definition Action Cam HDR-AS10 featuring the Carl Zeiss Tessar HD lens system.
Locomotive used was an HO scale 1/87 Athearn Genesis Santa Fe GP50 Phase II 3840 with Tsunami sound decoder.
