Animal bite

An animal bite is a wound, usually lacerations, caused by the teeth. An animal bite usually results in a break in the skin but also includes contusions from the excessive pressure on body tissue from the bite. The contusions can occur without a break in the skin. Bites can be provoked or unprovoked. Other bite attacks may be apparently unprovoked. Biting is a physical action not only describing an attack but it is a normal response in an animal as it eats, carries objects, softens and prepares food for its young, removes ectoparasites from its body surface, removes plant seeds attached to its fur or hair, scratching itself, and grooming other animals. Animal bites often result in serious infections and mortality. Animal bites not only include injuries from the teeth of reptiles, mammals, but fish, and amphibians. Arthropods can also bite and leave injuries.

Coyote

The coyote (US /kaɪˈoʊtiː/ or /ˈkaɪ.oʊt/, UK /kɔɪˈjoʊteɪ/, or /kɔɪˈjoʊt/;Canis latrans) is a canid native to North America. It is a smaller, more basal animal than its close relative, the gray wolf, being roughly the North American equivalent to the Old World golden jackal, though it is larger and more predatory in nature. It is listed as "least concern" by the IUCN, on account of its wide distribution and abundance throughout North America, even southwards through Mexico and Central America. It is a highly versatile species, whose range has expanded amidst human environmental modification. This expansion is ongoing, and it may one day reach South America, as shown by the animal's presence beyond the Panama Canal in 2013.As of 2005, 19 subspecies are recognized.

The ancestors of the coyote diverged from those of the gray wolf, 1–2 million years ago, with the modern species arising in North America during the Middle Pleistocene. It is highly flexible in social organization, living either in nuclear families or in loosely knit packs of unrelated individuals. It has a varied diet consisting primarily of animal matter, including ungulates, lagomorphs, rodents, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates, though it may also eat fruit and vegetable matter on occasion. It is a very vocal animal, whose most iconic sound consists of a howl emitted by solitary individuals.Humans aside, cougars and gray wolves are the coyote's only serious enemies. Nevertheless, coyotes have on occasion mated with the latter species, producing hybrids colloquially called "coywolves".

Dragon Tales

Dragon Tales is an American-Canadian animated pre-school children's television series created by Jim Coane and Ron Rodecker and developed by Coane, Wesley Eure, Jeffrey Scott, Cliff Ruby and Elana Lesser. The story focuses on the adventures of two siblings, Emmy and Max, and their dragon friends Ord, Cassie, Zak, Wheezie, and Quetzal. The series began broadcasting on the PBS on their PBS Kids block on September 6, 1999, with its final episode aired on November 25, 2005. Re-runs ceased on August 31, 2010. The program's full library of episodes was made available to subscribers of the streaming service Netflix. Though never released in a full season or series format on DVD, numerous individual releases were made available from all seasons on both DVD and VHS formats, a total of at least 17 DVD releases, each typically featuring at least 5 stories from the show, including "Adventures in Dragon Land," "Playing Fair Makes Playing Fun" and the animated / live-action special "Let's Start a Band."

The Brave

The Brave (1997) is a film adapted from the Gregory McDonald novel of the same title directed by, co-written by and starring Johnny Depp alongside Marlon Brando.

This film was Depp's directorial debut. He co-wrote the screenplay with his brother, directed and acted in it. The film was first shown at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival where it received mixed reviews. The film was released in theaters and on DVD internationally, but not in the United States.

Plot

The film concerns a Native American man named Raphael who lives with his wife and two children in a remote community near a rubbish dump selling whatever he can to make a living. Raphael, seeing the hopelessness of his situation and his inability to provide for his family, agrees to star in a snuff film for a large sum of money that he hopes will give his family a chance for a better life.

Having been given the money in advance, Raphael is given a week to live and then return to be tortured and killed in front of the camera. The film follows Raphael's transformation with his relationship with his wife and children over the course of his final week of life and his own personal anguish with his fate.

Grizzly bear

The grizzly bear (Ursus arctos ssp.) is any North American morphological form or subspecies of brown bear, including the mainland grizzly (Ursus arctos horribilis), Kodiak bear (U. a. middendorffi), peninsular grizzly (U. a. gyas), and the recently extinct California grizzly (U. a. californicus†) and Mexican grizzly bear (U. a. nelsoni†). Scientists do not use the name grizzly bear but call it the North American brown bear. (See brown bear for a discussion of brown bears outside of North America). It should not be confused with the black grizzly or Ussuri brown bear (U. a. lasiotus) which is another giant brown bear inhabiting Russia, Northern China, and Korea.

Classification

Meaning of "grizzly"

Lewis & Clark named it to be grisley or "grizzly", which could have meant "grizzled"; that is, golden and grey tips of the hair or "fear-inspiring". Nonetheless, after careful study, naturalist George Ord formally classified it in 1815 – not for its hair, but for its character – as Ursus horribilis ("terrifying bear").

Simon John and his five-month-old son Harrison were enjoying a family break at a holiday camp in Breen, Somerset, when they were attacked by a spider. He only noticed they had been bitten two days later, when they returned home, in Newport, South Wales. Simon John developed a fever and spotted two red marks on his leg that soon started to swell. His son also had a temperature, so John was rushed to the hospital together with five-month-old Harrison. They were administered antibiotics, and the baby boy was hospitalized for two days. As John’s infection spread rapidly, the doctors gave him a CT scan. Only then they discovered the patient had been bitten by a deadly spider. 45-year-old John was in danger of losing his leg, as an open hole appeared on his limb and the flesh began to rot. However, the doctors managed to stop the infection and save the patient’s leg, as well as his life. They had to cut out the rotting flesh to avoid blood poisoning and, during the following weeks, the doctors placed gel pads inside the skin to urge the new tissue 7: Christine McCullins 54-year-old Christine McCullins was in danger of having one of her legs amputated after being bitten by one of the most venomous spiders in Great Britain, the false widow. She was celebrating her sister-in-law’s birthday in Basingstoke, Hampshire, when the woman reportedly felt excruciating pain in her left ankle, followed by swelling, in September 2013. She initially thought she had been bitten by a mosquito, so she did not pay attention to any symptoms in the following days. She treated herself with medication from a pharmacy 6: Gangrenous bite destroys woman’s ear In November 2013, a 22-year-old Dutch woman was bitten on the ear by a Mediterranean recluse spider, while she was vacationing in Italy. She was allegedly sleeping when the spider attacked her and awoke the next day with a stinging sensation in her ear as her face began to swell. Soon, her ear was liquefied by the spider’s venom and turned black as the skin and cartilage had died. She was reportedly rushed to a local hospital, where doctors prescribed her antihistamine, as she and the hospital staff were unaware she had been bitten by a spider 5: Casey O'Neill A young woman was left with a hole in her leg after being bitten by what she believes was a false widow spider, in September 2015. 16-year-old Casey O’Neill, from River Way, Andover, was taking a bath, when she noticed what seemed to be a mosquito bite on her leg. She didn’t pay attention to it until the wound started swelling and oozing blood. She went to the hospital to get treatment, but she was only prescribed cream, as the medical staff agreed they were dealing with a spider bite. However, the bite did not respond to the ointment. It started getting even bigger, until it popped, oozing blood and puss 4: Ronald Reese A 62-year-old man from Florida died on February 16th, 2014, after being bitten by a common household spider. Ronald Reese was reportedly bitten in the neck by a brown recluse spider in August 2013, while he was clearing up an old house. He managed to return home, but the next day he couldn’t get out of bed anymore. Days later, Reese was paralyzed. His 88-year-old father, William Reese, took him to the hospital. The bite was followed by six agonizing months of 3: Slayer Guitarist Jeff Hanneman In 2011, Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman was in a Jacuzzi with one of his friends in Los Angeles, when he was reportedly bitten in the arm by a spider, and contracted a rare flesh eating disorder, called necrotizing fasciitis. He didn’t pay attention to the wound during the following week, but the disease progressed quickly and started eating through the deep layers of the skin and tissue on his limb. When he noticed his arm had started to swell and turn bright red, he went to show his wife, Kathryn. She immediately took him to the emergency 2: Victoria Franklin 51-year-old Victoria Franklin arrived at the hospital in Atlanta, on April 9th, 2010, nearly unconscious. She was suffering from severe nausea and vomiting, and she had a swollen up black breast, that had allegedly blown up to the size of a loaf of bread. The woman’s breast 1: Keith Pierce Keith Pierce, a 10-year-old schoolboy from Montana, first noticed that his leg had started swelling up, in September 2014. He was rushed to Bozeman Deconess Hospital on September 30th. However, doctors looked at his leg, and after ruling out cancer, they sent him home.
