Manish Sisodia is an Indian politician who has been the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi since February 2015. He also holds the Finance and Planning, Revenue, Services, Power, Education, Higher Education, Information Technology, Technical Education, Administrative Reforms portfolios in the government of Delhi. Previously, he was briefly a cabinet minister in the Government of Delhi between late December 2013 and February 2014, when he had responsibility for education, PWD, urban development, local bodies and land and building. Prior to being elected to the Legislative Assembly of Delhi in December 2013, Sisodia was a social activist and journalist as well as a member of the National Executive Committee of the Aam Aadmi Party.
The son of a teacher, Sisodia was born in a village in Hapur district in a Rajput family in (Uttar Pradesh). Sisodia subsequently shifted to the town of Pilkhuva, 50 kilometres from Delhi where he commenced his career as a journalist after completing a post graduate diploma in Journalism from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. From 1997 to 2005, Sisodia worked as a documentary film maker, a TV news channel and news reader.
Press Conference was a public-affairs television series aired in the United States in the mid-1950s.
Press Conference was similar in format and content to the long-running Meet the Press and was moderated by one of that program's creators, pioneering female journalist Martha Rountree. On the program, a current newsmaker, generally but not always a politician, was questioned by a panel of newspersons in a typical press conference format. As usually done in a traditional press conference, the subject was allowed to make an opening statement (although not all chose to do so) prior to fielding questions.
Press Conference was launched on NBC in July 1956, but that fall moved to ABC. Initially shown in prime time, the program drew only a minimal, public-affairs oriented audience running against two high-profile Sunday night variety series, The Ed Sullivan Show on CBS and The Steve Allen Show on NBC; however, its appearance helped ABC to meet the public-interest requirements imposed on U.S broadcasters by the Federal Communications Commission. Press Conference was moved to Sunday afternoon for three months in early 1957, prior to returning to prime time in April of that year under a new title, Martha Rountree's Press Conference. The program ended in July 1957.
Arvind Kejriwal (born 16 August 1968) is an Indian politician who is the Chief Minister of Delhi since February 2015. He previously served as Chief Minister from December 2013 to February 2014, stepping down after 49 days. He is the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). His party won the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections with a majority, obtaining 67 out of 70 assembly seats.
Kejriwal is a mechanical engineering graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, and worked for the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) as a joint commissioner in the Income Tax Department.
In 2006, Kejriwal was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Emergent Leadership recognising his involvement in the grassroots movement Parivartan using right-to-information legislation in a campaign against corruption. The same year, after resigning from the IRS, he donated his Magsaysay award money as a corpus fund to found the Public Cause Research Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO).
In 2012, he launched the Aam Aadmi Party, and the party won in the 2013 Delhi Legislative Assembly election. Following the election, he took office as the Chief Minister of Delhi on 28 December 2013. He resigned 49 days later, on 14 February 2014, stating he did so because of his minority government's inability to pass his proposed anti-corruption legislation due to a lack of support from other political parties.
Dropping a hint that AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal may be the party’s chief ministerial candidate in Punjab, Delhi’s Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia told voters of the state to cast their vote “assuming Kejriwal is your chief minister’. Addressing a rally in Mohali, Sisodia said, “Your vote should be in the name of Kejriwal. Assume he is your CM candidate and vote for him.” Follow us: YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/aajtaktv?sub_confirmation=1 Twitter: https://twitter.com/aajtak Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/aajtak Tags: Fast News,Breaking News,Top Headlines,Super fast news,Khabare Superfast,Superfast!,news, sensational news, political news, sports news,Super fast,Jawaharlal Nehru University, controversy, students, union leader,sedition,anti-national’ slogans,Parliament attack,Ka...
