Need a Long Term Water Storage Preserver? So you hear all over the internet to use some sort of water preserver when storing water long term. Say you have some five gallon water containers and you want to store water for SHTF/Natural Disaster/Emergency/World War 3/Nuclear Attack/EMP/Economic Collapse/Etc. You might feel pressured to use a water preserver. All these prepper sites and doomsday sites have you worried. If you don't use it you could sip your first sweet sip from you stored water and wham! You got the shitz and are gonna die! Not so fast doomsday site, lets take a long hard look at the science here. So your telling me if someone buys a new container, cleans it out with say Dawn soap, rinses it out, fills it with water they just bought at the store (I like spring water), then screws on the cap and stores it in a cool dry place they need some unicorn urine to save it long term? It took me forever to purchase enough water in order to feel secure for a reasonable short-term disaster. It's not as fun as buying a a folding knife. Water is boring right? Wrong! If you go without water for even one day, I guarantee you will be trading in all those gadgets and probably alot of money for a drink. I have stored about 68 liters for drinking/cooking. Budgeting 4 liters per day, it comprises 17 days supply. Nearby, I also have the Pacific ocean for bathing, and also a man-made lake for filtering/disinfecting during an extended crisis. These beauties are going back in the closet with a calendar reminder to start rotating/refilling in about 3 months time. Stay fresh, stay hydrated.

Installation video of Restore Environmental's Large Capacity Water Storage Reservoir. Restore Environmental is an Australian owned and operated Company. Our innovative, lightweight reservoirs satisfy and exceed CSG Industry regulations and requirements.
Our main focus was to create a modular fluid storage solution that can be easily assembled and disassembled and taken from site to site, hence making it very attractive for the storage of contaminated water resulting from the CSG operations. With this in mind we have designed, manufactured and installed a large capacity panel tank near Kogan.
Our versatile design allows to create fluid storage in excess of 7Ml in areas as small as 5,000m2, with minimal earthworks and no permanent footprint. The reservoirs can be erected and dismantled indefinitely, and only take a few days to do so.

Water storage
In agriculture, water storage water is stored for later use in natural water sources, such as groundwater aquifers, soil water and natural wetlands, and also small artificial ponds, tanks and reservoirs behind major dams.
Types of water storage
Groundwater
Groundwater is located beneath the ground surface in soil pore spaces and in the fractures of rock formations. A unit of rock or an unconsolidated deposit is called an aquifer when it can yield a usable quantity of water. The depth at which soil pore spaces or fractures and voids in rock become completely saturated with water is called the water table. There are two broad types of aquifers: confined and unconfined. An unconfined aquifer is where the surface is not restricted by impervious rocks, so the water table is at atmospheric pressure. In a confined aquifer, the upper surface of water is overlain by a layer of impervious rock, so the groundwater is stored under pressure.
Soil moisture
Soil moisture are the water held between soil particles in the root zone of plants, generally in the top 200 cm of soil. Water storage in the soil profile is extremely important for agriculture, especially in locations that rely on rainfall for cultivating plants. For example, in Africa rain-fed agriculture accounts for 95% of farmed land.

Water
Water (chemical formula: H2O) is a transparent fluid which forms the world's streams, lakes, oceans and rain, and is the major constituent of the fluids of organisms. As a chemical compound, a water molecule contains one oxygen and two hydrogen atoms that are connected by covalent bonds. Water is a liquid at standard ambient temperature and pressure, but it often co-exists on Earth with its solid state, ice; and gaseous state, steam (water vapor). It also exists as snow, fog, dew and cloud.
Water covers 71% of the Earth's surface. It is vital for all known forms of life. On Earth, 96.5% of the planet's crust water is found in seas and oceans, 1.7% in groundwater, 1.7% in glaciers and the ice caps of Antarctica and Greenland, a small fraction in other large water bodies, and 0.001% in the air as vapor, clouds (formed of ice and liquid water suspended in air), and precipitation. Only 2.5% of this water is freshwater, and 98.8% of that water is in ice (excepting ice in clouds) and groundwater. Less than 0.3% of all freshwater is in rivers, lakes, and the atmosphere, and an even smaller amount of the Earth's freshwater (0.003%) is contained within biological bodies and manufactured products. A greater quantity of water is found in the earth's interior.

It took me forever to purchase enough water in order to feel secure for a reasonable short-term disaster. It's not as fun as buying a a folding knife. Water is boring right? Wrong! If you go without water for even one day, I guarantee you will be trading in all those gadgets and probably alot of money for a drink. I have stored about 68 liters for drinking/cooking. Budgeting 4 liters per day, it comprises 17 days supply. Nearby, I also have the Pacific ocean for bathing, and also a man-made lake for filtering/disinfecting during an extended crisis. These beauties are going back in the closet with a calendar reminder to start rotating/refilling in about 3 months time. Stay fresh, stay hydrated.

Our main focus was to create a modular fluid storage solution that can be easily assembled and disassembled and taken from site to site, hence making it very attractive for the storage of contaminated water resulting from the CSG operations. With this in mind we have designed, manufactured and installed a large capacity panel tank near Kogan.
Our versatile design allows to create fluid storage in excess of 7Ml in areas as small as 5,000m2, with minimal earthworks and no permanent footprint. The reservoirs can be erected and dismantled indefinitely, and only take a few days to do so.

total material costs less than $150

Water Storage Planning - Part 2: In this video I describe my purchase of 55 gallon drum barrels and the process of filling them up. Additional Parts Apex 25 feet long drinking water safe water hose was purchased at Walmart for around $8. It is lead free and can be found in the gardening section or camping/rv section of walmart or lowes, home depot, etc. Check the apex website for different variations of this hose http://www.teknorapex.com/ Faucet Adapter is produced by Neoperl. Its part number is #572798. It allows a flow rate of 1.5 Gallons per minute and fits a 3/4 inch male hose. I paid $5.97 for this part at home depot in the faucet section of the store.

Hello everyone. This video is to show those who are beginners and other how to clean and prepare your 55 gallon drums for clean water storage. I am here showing you how to do this as a one man operation. Nothing difficult to do but there are many ways to clean these drums, depending on what was stored in them. Some were used to store pickles, barbecue sauce, animal dog shampoo like mine and the list goes on. You can't open the top like in other type of drums. As you can see they have two round openings and both twist on/off caps brungs have different threading, one larger and thicker and one thinnner. WaterTalks: Water Storage: Nature-based Solutions for Resilient Communities by Pieter van der Zaag
Pieter van der Zaag is a professor of integrated water resources management at the UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education in Delft, The Netherlands and professor at Delft University of Technology. This talk was presented on Sept. 15, 2016 as part of the Water Institute’s ongoing WaterTalks series. The presentation addresses if alternative ways of increasing water storage capacity exist that minimize negative impacts. Topics covered include: 1) enhanced availability and use of groundwater through soil and water conservation measures and artificial recharge and 2) enhanced storage capacity in dry river beds of seasonal (ephemeral) rivers, through so-called sand dams.

Strano Boomer 11.17 Floodplain Reconnection for Water Quality Water Storage Benefits: Pocomoke River
Floodplain restoration presents a promising opportunity to address water resource concerns. Few studies, however, confirm targeted benefits. We evaluated river-floodplain water exchange and phosphorus trapping in natural, reconnected, and disconnected floodplains along the Pocomoke River. Hydrology data from three restored floodplain sites showed similarity to the hydrologic regime of a natural floodplain, and differences from disconnected floodplain sites, and confirmed that levee breaches enhance river-floodplain interactions. Phosphorus sedimentation far exceeded phosphate release from restored floodplain soils, indicating that levee breaches have been successful for improving water quality. Apex 25 feet long drinking water safe water hose was purchased at Walmart for around $8. It is lead free and can be found in the gardening section or camping/rv section of walmart or lowes, home depot, etc. Check the apex website for different variations of this hose http://www.teknorapex.com/
Faucet Adapter is produced by Neoperl. Its part number is #572798. It allows a flow rate of 1.5 Gallons per minute and fits a 3/4 inch male hose. I paid $5.97 for this part at home depot in the faucet section of the store.

Hello everyone. This video is to show those who are beginners and other how to clean and prepare your 55 gallon drums for clean water storage. I am here showing you how to do this as a one man operation. Nothing difficult to do but there are many ways to clean these drums, depending on what was stored in them. Some were used to store pickles, barbecue sauce, animal dog shampoo like mine and the list goes on.
You can't open the top like in other type of drums. As you can see they have two round openings and both twist on/off caps brungs have different threading, one larger and thicker and one thinnner. Each one goes into it's specific opening as I demonstrate.
This is the brung wrench you need to close and open these brung caps and it makes it so much easier. For those of you who can create a wrench for this, please share it with the rest of us.
At about 43 seconds into my video i made a mistake and told you it's a 55 gallon drum and holds 400 gallons. ahhaa sorry my fault. Got tongue brain tied. It is a 55 gallon drum which holds 400lbs of water. So choose the location you will store your drums first and then fill them up then, otherwise moving a 400lb drum would take some serious moving. lol You get the point.
It is a great idea to store emergency water for you, your loved ones, family and your pets. I have other drums and of course one drum I will have strictly for washing, shower type with a cloth & soap, so as to save as much water. The other drums will be for drinking and cooking, etc. So you decide how and what you will use your emergency water for. It can't hurt to have at least on 55 gallon or even 35 gallon or similar filled with drinking water for any kind of emergencies. Now in case of a bug out situation, yes I have to leave them, too heavy and bulky to take but I can always come back if possible and siphon out water.
These drums are available on ebay, on the net, etc. Just keep an eye on craigslist or adds, you can get them free at times as I got lucky. I have seen them for sale for $15.00 to 20.00 but you have to pick them up. Some stores sell them for up to $90.00 and that is just ridiculous. This talk was presented on Sept. 15, 2016 as part of the Water Institute’s ongoing WaterTalks series.
The presentation addresses if alternative ways of increasing water storage capacity exist that minimize negative impacts. Topics covered include: 1) enhanced availability and use of groundwater through soil and water conservation measures and artificial recharge and 2) enhanced storage capacity in dry river beds of seasonal (ephemeral) rivers, through so-called sand dams.

We evaluated river-floodplain water exchange and phosphorus trapping in natural, reconnected, and disconnected floodplains along the Pocomoke River. Hydrology data from three restored floodplain sites showed similarity to the hydrologic regime of a natural floodplain, and differences from disconnected floodplain sites, and confirmed that levee breaches enhance river-floodplain interactions. Phosphorus sedimentation far exceeded phosphate release from restored floodplain soils, indicating that levee breaches have been successful for improving water quality.
