Hi, my name is Phil from the german travel blog www.killerwal.com. Today I'm gonna take you to Zurich, which is the capital of the canton of Zurich in Switzerland but not of Switzerland itself, which has no capital city at all.
The city of Zurich has approximately 400,000 inhabitants, is the largest city in Switzerland and has a population density of approximately 4300 inhabitants per square kilometer. Zurich is the most important economic, scientific and social center of Switzerland. The city lies in the eastern Swiss Plateau, on the Lake Zurich. Its inhabitants are called "Zürcher".
For years, Zurich is one of the cities with the highest quality of life and listed the highest cost of living simultaneously. Since 2012, Zurich is regarded as the most expensive city in the world, followed by Tokyo and Geneva.
With its main railway station, the largest station in Switzerland , and the airport, the city of Zurich is a continental transportation hub and thanks to the local big banks (including UBS and Credit Suisse ) and insurances (Zurich Insurance Group and Swiss Re) an international financial center and the largest financial center Switzerland, followed by Geneva and Lugano. Despite the relatively small population Zurich is therefore considered one of the world's cities. Above average number of media companies , including Swiss radio and television, have their headquarters here Thanks to its location on Lake Zurich and its well-preserved medieval center and a wide range of cultural attractions and nightlife, it is also a center of Swiss Tourism.

My top 10 places to eat in Zürich like Haus Hiltl, world's oldest vegetarian restaurant, Da Capo for its incredible juicy steaks and fine dining at some of the fanciest places in the biggest city in Switzerland.

Kick off your food adventure in biggest city of Switzerland by renting a bike to easily get around town. Start at the magical pool & bar Seebad Enge in the middle of lake Zürichsee.
For brunch I highly recommend dropping by Haus Hiltl, the oldest vegetarian restaurant in the world founded in 1898. Now, I am far from becoming vegetarian but after eating here I could easily switch to a vegetarian lifestyle for the rest of my life.
The best view of the city can either be enjoyed from the Lindenhof or the rooftop of the Widder Hotel of which you can easily see the 3 iconic churches of Zürich; Grossmünster, Fraumünster and St Peter.
Over 100 food stands and trucks selling a host of culinary delicacies from all over the world regularly come together to take part in the Street Food Festival and takes place during the second week of September. Go in the evening to mingle with the locals and get to know the city customs.
After returning your bike head over for drinks at the Widder Bar, the largest whisky bar in Zurich and total laidback atmosphere. Try the crazy pineapple cocktail, that is one heavy drink!
Another great place for dinner and drinks is the 25hours Hotel, a laidback spot on the west-side of Zurich. Make sure to try their magnificent hummus.
In conclusion, Zurich can be a very expensive city, it is considered the MOST EXPENSIVE CITY IN THE WORLD, the places we ate at were pricey but places like the Street Food Festival are the cheaper alternatives and you still get a good impression of the Swiss food culture.

The municipality has approximately 400,028 inhabitants, the urban agglomeration 1.315 million, and the Zurich metropolitan area 1.83 million. Zürich is a hub for railways, roads, and air traffic. Both Zürich Airport and railway station are the largest and busiest in the country.
Permanently settled for around 2000 years, Zürich has a history that goes back to its founding by the Romans, who, in 15 BC, called it Turicum. However, early settlements have been found dating back more than 6400 years ago. During the Middle Ages Zürich gained the independent and privileged status of imperial immediacy and, in 1519, became a primary centre of the Protestant Reformation in Europe under the leadership of Ulrich Zwingli.

Switzerland
Switzerland (/ˈswɪtsərlənd/), officially the Swiss Confederation (Latin: Confoederatio Helvetica, hence its abbreviation CH), is a country in Europe. While still named the "Swiss Confederation" for historical reasons, modern Switzerland is a federal directorial republic consisting of 26 cantons, with Bern as the seat of the federal authorities, called Bundesstadt ("federal city"). The country is situated in Western and Central Europe, and is bordered by Italy to the south, France to the west, Germany to the north, and Austria and Liechtenstein to the east. Switzerland is a landlocked country geographically divided between the Alps, the Swiss Plateau and the Jura, spanning an area of 41,285 km2 (15,940 sq mi). The establishment of the Swiss Confederation is traditionally dated to 1 August 1291, which is celebrated annually as the Swiss National Day. The country has a long history of armed neutrality—it has not been in a state of war internationally since 1815—and did not join the United Nations until 2002. Nevertheless, it pursues an active foreign policy and is frequently involved in peace-building processes around the world. In addition to being the birthplace of the Red Cross, Switzerland is home to numerous international organizations, including the second largest UN office. On the European level, it is a founding member of the European Free Trade Association, but notably it is not part of the European Union, nor the European Economic Area. However the country does participate in the Schengen Area and the EU's single market through a number of bilateral treaties.

My top 10 places to eat in Zürich like Haus Hiltl, world's oldest vegetarian restaurant, Da Capo for its incredible juicy steaks and fine dining at some of the fanciest places in the biggest city in Switzerland. Photos & Map: http://www.reformatt.com/food-zurich Kick off your food adventure in biggest city of Switzerland by renting a bike to easily get around town. Start at the magical pool & bar Seebad Enge in the middle of lake Zürichsee. For brunch I highly recommend dropping by Haus Hiltl, the oldest vegetarian restaurant in the world founded in 1898. Now, I am far from becoming vegetarian but after eating here I could easily switch to a vegetarian lifestyle for the rest of my life. The best view of the city can either be enjoyed from the Lindenhof or the rooftop of the Widder Hotel of which you can easily see the 3 iconic churches of Zürich; Grossmünster, Fraumünster and St Peter. Over 100 food stands and trucks selling a host of culinary delicacies from all over the world regularly come together to take part in the Street Food Festival and takes place during the second week of September. Go in the evening to mingle with the locals and get to know the city customs. After returning your bike head over for drinks at the Widder Bar, the largest whisky bar in Zurich and total laidback atmosphere. Try the crazy pineapple cocktail, that is one heavy drink! Another great place for dinner and drinks is the 25hours Hotel, a laidback spot on the west-side of Zurich. Make sure to try their magnificent hummus. In conclusion, Zurich can be a very expensive city, it is considered the MOST EXPENSIVE CITY IN THE WORLD, the places we ate at were pricey but places like the Street Food Festival are the cheaper alternatives and you still get a good impression of the Swiss food culture.

My top 10 places to eat in Zürich like Haus Hiltl, world's oldest vegetarian restaurant, Da Capo for its incredible juicy steaks and fine dining at some of the fanciest places in the biggest city in Switzerland.

Kick off your food adventure in biggest city of Switzerland by renting a bike to easily get around town. Start at the magical pool & bar Seebad Enge in the middle of lake Zürichsee.
For brunch I highly recommend dropping by Haus Hiltl, the oldest vegetarian restaurant in the world founded in 1898. Now, I am far from becoming vegetarian but after eating here I could easily switch to a vegetarian lifestyle for the rest of my life.
The best view of the city can either be enjoyed from the Lindenhof or the rooftop of the Widder Hotel of which you can easily see the 3 iconic churches of Zürich; Grossmünster, Fraumünster and St Peter.
Over 100 food stands and trucks selling a host of culinary delicacies from all over the world regularly come together to take part in the Street Food Festival and takes place during the second week of September. Go in the evening to mingle with the locals and get to know the city customs.
After returning your bike head over for drinks at the Widder Bar, the largest whisky bar in Zurich and total laidback atmosphere. Try the crazy pineapple cocktail, that is one heavy drink!
Another great place for dinner and drinks is the 25hours Hotel, a laidback spot on the west-side of Zurich. Make sure to try their magnificent hummus.
In conclusion, Zurich can be a very expensive city, it is considered the MOST EXPENSIVE CITY IN THE WORLD, the places we ate at were pricey but places like the Street Food Festival are the cheaper alternatives and you still get a good impression of the Swiss food culture.

Hi, my name is Phil from the german travel blog www.killerwal.com. Today I'm gonna take you to Zurich, which is the capital of the canton of Zurich in Switzerland but not of Switzerland itself, which has no capital city at all.
The city of Zurich has approximately 400,000 inhabitants, is the largest city in Switzerland and has a population density of approximately 4300 inhabitants per square kilometer. Zurich is the most important economic, scientific and social center of Switzerland. The city lies in the eastern Swiss Plateau, on the Lake Zurich. Its inhabitants are called "Zürcher".
For years, Zurich is one of the cities with the highest quality of life and listed the highest cost of living simultaneously. Since 2012, Zurich is regarded as the most expensive city in the world, followed by Tokyo and Geneva.
With its main railway station, the largest station in Switzerland , and the airport, the city of Zurich is a continental transportation hub and thanks to the local big banks (including UBS and Credit Suisse ) and insurances (Zurich Insurance Group and Swiss Re) an international financial center and the largest financial center Switzerland, followed by Geneva and Lugano. Despite the relatively small population Zurich is therefore considered one of the world's cities. Above average number of media companies , including Swiss radio and television, have their headquarters here Thanks to its location on Lake Zurich and its well-preserved medieval center and a wide range of cultural attractions and nightlife, it is also a center of Swiss Tourism.
