Písac or Pisac (in hispanicized spellings) or P'isaq (Quechua for Nothoprocta, also spelled p'isaqa) is a Peruvian village in the Sacred Valley. It is situated at the Willkanuta River. The village is well known for its market every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, an event which attracts heavy tourist traffic from nearby Cusco.
One of its more notable features was a large pisonay tree, which dominated the central plaza (it was destroyed by a 2013 thunderstorm). The sanctuary of Huanca, site of a sacred shrine, is also near the village. Pilgrims travel to the shrine every September.
The area is perhaps best known for its Incan ruins, known as Inca Písac, which lie atop a hill at the entrance to the valley. The ruins are separated along the ridge into four groups: P'isaqa, Inti Watana, Qalla Q'asa, and Kinchiraqay.Inti Watana group includes the Temple of the Sun, baths, altars, water fountains, a ceremonial platform, and an inti watana, a volcanic outcrop carved into a "hitching post for the Sun" (or Inti). The angles of its base suggest that it served to define the changes of the seasons.Qalla Q'asa, which is built onto a natural spur and overlooks the valley, is known as the citadel.
Not as famous or popular as Machu Picchu, Pisaq is a vast complex of ancient buildings and terraces on top of a mountain near Cusco Peru. Although most was the work of the Inca, the megalithic elements were created by a much older civilization that had Lost Ancient High Technology.

Peru – a land of extremes and intrigue – principally known for being home to the most important archaeological site in all of the Americas, offers in reality so much more. Its landscapes range from high Andean peaks, to sultry Amazon rainforests, from high altitude deserts and wild windswept coasts. Of course its great to travel with the Incas from Cusco to the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu, but its also possible to get off the beaten track, to explore remote ruins of the cloud warriors in the north, or afro-Peruvian beats along the pacific coast. Most of all it’s a diverse country that offers something for everyone. But for many, a trip to Peru will begin in Cusco. As the ancient Inca capital, and the political power base in colonial times, Cusco has its fair share of sites. Sitting in a na...

Everyone knows of Machu Picchu, but what lots of people don't realize is that there are thousands of beautiful ruins in Peru. In The Sacred Valley, there are some of the most impressive ruins in all of South America. We started our day, though, playing with a bunch of Alpacas and llamas at a farm just outside the valley. It was way too much fun. Eventually, we started our Sacred Valley tour with a stop at the Pisac Ruins. Pisac is one of the mos...

Verse 1
Was geht mich fremdes Elend an.
