The Crimson King, known to some as Los' or Ram Abbalah, is a fictional character created by Stephen King. He is the antagonist of King's seven-volume Dark Tower series, as well as the novels Insomnia and Black House. Described as "Gan's crazy side", the Crimson King is the ultimate ruler of the Red (also called the Random and the Outer Dark), and the archetypal embodiment of evil in Stephen King's fictional multiverse. His goal is to topple the Dark Tower which serves as the linchpin of time and space, destroying the multitude of universes which revolve around it so that he can rule in the primordial chaos which follows.
According to the Dark Tower comics, the Crimson King was the bastard offspring of Arthur Eld, a legendary gunslinger, and the Crimson Queen, a demonic creature of the Prim – the chaotic primordial void from which the Dark Tower, and all universes, arose. With the aid of the wizard Maerlyn, the Crimson Queen took on human form and deceived Arthur Eld to achieve this union. The protagonist of the series, Roland Deschain, is himself a distant descendant of Eld; this makes the Crimson King a half-uncle of Roland, albeit through many generations. This is the key through which Roland can defeat the King, as stated in a prophecy laid out during the course of the series. In the one-shot comic The Dark Tower: The Sorcerer, Randall Flagg and the Pink Grapefruit (one of the thirteen Bends o' the Rainbow) refer to the Crimson King as their cousin.
Crimson King, also known as John Toucher's or the Bewley Down Pippin, is a traditional cider apple cultivar originating in Somerset.
The cultivar was raised in the late 19th century by John Toucher of Bewley Down, Chardstock. It was first widely planted in western Somerset, and subsequently in Devon and other West Country cider producing areas.
The fruit is generally medium to large, variable in shape, and red-skinned. In the standard classification of cider apples Crimson King is a (medium to full) "sharp", being high in acidity but low in tannin.
Crimson King is triploid and mid to late bearing. It makes a vigorous, spreading tree and was reputed to bear heavy crops without much tendency to biennial cropping, although it is fairly prone to apple scab.
In the Court of the Crimson King (subtitled An Observation by King Crimson) is the debut studio album from the English rock band King Crimson, released on 10 October 1969 on Island Records. The album is considered to be one of the first and most influential of the progressive rock genre, where the band largely departed from the blues influences that rock music founded upon and combined elements of jazz, classical, and symphonic music.
The album reached No. 5 on the UK Album Chart and No. 28 on the US Billboard 200, where it was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album was reissued several times in the 1980s and 1990s made with inferior copies of the master tapes. After the masters were located in 2003, a 40th Anniversary edition of the album was released in 2009 with new stereo and 5.1 surround sound mixes by Steven Wilson.
King Crimson made their live debut on 9 April 1969, and made a breakthrough by playing the Rolling Stones free concert at Hyde Park, London, in July 1969 before an estimated 250,000 to 500,000 people.
"The Court of the Crimson King" is the fifth and final track from the British progressive rock band King Crimson's debut album, In the Court of the Crimson King. Also released as a single, it reached #80 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Along with "Heartbeat", it is one of the band's only two charting singles in the United States.
The track is dominated by a distinct riff performed on the Mellotron in D major. The main part of the song is split up into 4 verses, divided by an instrumental section called "The Return of the Fire Witch". The song climaxes at seven minutes, but continues with a little reprise (called "The Dance of the Puppets"), before ending on an abrupt and free time scale.
Forgive my sins father I will always obey your wish is my command
whatever you say I will never betray you I will cooperate
in the end you must save me before it is too late
In the court of crimson king the key will let me in]
Seven years of wisdom and seven years of pain seven keys to kingdom
and seven gates to hell my soul is leaving for the astral sky
I'm going through some chances I am paralysed
Before the king of twilight in for the crimson court I am a part of the order
I am reborn what a pleasure to be here what a pleasure to die
